11 years old from Bryanston Primary School, Thabelo Negovha stole the spotlight with her impressive performance at the school's recent talent show.
Thabelo, a passionate musician, has been playing the electric guitar since she was just 6 years old, demonstrating a remarkable dedication for her age.
Her journey into music began early, inspired by a toy guitar she cherished at age three. When she was six, her parents enrolled her in guitar classes at Swallows15, a music school she now considers her second home.

'Swallows15 came to my school and presented the classes they offer,' Thabelo said. 'I picked to learn guitar first, with the intention of learning piano & singing after that.
'My favourite song is Valentine by Leigh Fay, and my favourite genre, which I enjoy playing, is pop music, inspired by my favourite guitarist Ed Sheeran.'
Thabelo plays a vibrant, red Fender electric guitar. 'I practice every day. My motivation is, I know one day I can help my parents with money if I make a living out of the guitar. If I try hard enough, I can repay them for all they've done for me.'

She aspires to become a singer-songwriter, creating her own music someday, while currently performing covers at her music school and competitions. 'My favourite part of playing guitar is that I make so many people happy when I perform. I've seen so many people just overjoyed when they listen to me play, and that truly warms my heart.'
Beyond her musical talent, Thabelo dreams of gaining fame on platforms like TikTok, travelling the world with her guitar, and continuing to make people happy through her music.
Her dedication and passion have already made her a role model among her peers, proving that age is no barrier to achieving greatness.

Lasizwe cuts ties with MultiChoice amid podcast payment dispute

Lasizwe's podcast, Awkward Dates, was among eight original shows announced by MultiChoice in March this year to air on its DStv platforms. Media personality and YouTuber Thulasizwe 'Lasizwe' Dambuza has reportedly parted ways with MultiChoice. This follows a dispute involving unpaid fees and an alleged breach of agreement with social media influencer Dominic Zaca. Lasizwe's podcast, Awkward Dates, was among eight original shows announced by MultiChoice in March this year to air on its DStv platforms. However, according to City Press the collaboration has allegedly collapsed due to controversy over guest compensation. Zaca took to TikTok, accusing Lasizwe and his team of airing her episode on television without her consent. Zaca claimed their agreement restricted distribution to social media platforms only. 'Lasizwe Dambuza, would you and your team like to pay me for breaching the contract we had? 'You guys breached a verbal contract, you breached a written contract, and I don't know what contract you gave to MultiChoice. I would think that MultiChoice would not air my episode, knowing full well that I did not sign that contract in full agreement.' Zaca alleged that the production team and Lasizwe had ignored attempts to resolve the matter privately. 'I've been trying to settle this privately with emails and phone calls, but you're just ignoring me. Unfortunately, my job is my face, my voice, and my body — that's how I support my family, so you are basically using me.' When guest Cyan Boujee asked Lasizwe how much he owed Zaca, he responded dismissively: 'Who's that?' He then asked Cyan how much she believed he owed Zaca, since she had also featured on Awkward Dates. Cyan replied that he owed her nothing, to which Lasizwe said, 'Thank you,' before moving on from the topic. NOW READ: Boitshepo Lamola to fly SA flag at Miss Grand International 2025 in Bangkok

Five minutes with Khanyisa Jam Jam on how cancel culture affects comedians

Fresh from being crowned the 2025 Comics Awards breakthrough act of the year, comedian Khanyisa Jam Jam features in Showmax's upcoming Laugh Africa Comedy Club Series. Khanyisa features first in a line-up which includes Vafa Naraghi, Kagiso 'KG' Mokgadi, Rory Petzer, Hannes Brümmer, Kate Pinchuck, Lindy Johnson, Melt Sieberhagen, Thabiso Mhlongo and American comedian Griff. The Laugh Africa Comedy Club Series is four episodes jam-packed with raw laughs, real moments and performances. Ahead of its premier on June 13, Khanyisa spoke about the journey of his career and more: When did you realise you were funny and could turn it into a career? Probably in 2023 when I was nominated for the Comics Choice newcomer award. That's when I thought, 'I think I can be a professional stand-up comedian'. It felt like a real moment of validation. What was your worst bomb on stage and how did you recover? My worst bomb was opening for my mentor, Kagiso 'KG' Mokgadi, at the National Arts Festival. I bombed so badly the first night, I genuinely thought my career was over. I was devastated. But KG said, 'Hey bra, let's go get some KFC.' That small moment helped me realise bombing happens to everyone, and I had to get over it. With everyone creating content and TikTok full of 'funny people', how do you keep your comedy fresh while staying true to your voice? I stick to topics I'm comfortable with, what feels natural to me. If I find it funny, I post it. If it goes viral, cool. If it doesn't, it's not a train smash. I won't lose sleep over it. Do you think cancel culture has censored comedians? I think it depends. I can separate the artist from the art but people have the right to cancel whoever they want. At a wedding, when an R Kelly song plays, people will dance. It's complicated. Cancel culture can be selective, and that's something we all have to navigate. How do you handle criticism, specially in a public and personal art form? When it comes to my stand-up, I'm very protective. If someone in the audience gives constructive feedback, I listen. But if someone criticises a video online? Scroll past it. If it's not for you, that's OK. If your life was a sitcom, what would it be called and who would play you? I'd want Cedric the Entertainer to play me. I don't know what the name would be, but it'd definitely be about how I used to lie to my day job to do gigs. Trying to balance comedy and a 9 to 5 was a comedy show on its own. In your family, who's the funniest?

Lasizwe Dambuza throws shade and claps back at Dominic Zaca over financial drama

South African YouTuber, Lasizwe Dambuza, recently denied Dominic Zaca's financial allegations, stating he owes no one any money. Image: Instagram South African YouTuber and media personality Thulasizwe Dambuza, affectionately known to many as Lasizwe, has seemingly thrown shade at fellow content creator Dominic Zaca, not once but twice, following a financial dispute between them. During the latest episode of his Youtube show 'Drink or Tell The Truth' a celebrity game show that puts both the host and the guest in the hot seat as they answer questions that fans are curious about, Lasizwe subtly threw shade at Zaca, and indirectly said he does not owe anyone money including Zaca. Cyan Boujee, who was the guest for this episode, asked Lasizwe how much money he owes Zaca, who has come out about the financial drama. He replied as he threw shade: 'Who's that?' Lasizwe addressed the financial issues publicly for a second time in a recent interview. During this brief TikTok video, he was asked about his deepest and darkest secret. He replied as he threw shade: 'My deepest, darkest secret is I don't owe anyone.' Where did the drama start? In March, DStv announced that eight South African podcasts and content creators would be airing on its channels, and Lasizwe's 'Awkward Dates' made the cut and was a part of the eight. After learning about the announcement, Zaca took to social media in May, claiming that Lasizwe owed them money prior to shooting an episode for 'Awkward Dates' and also accused Lasizwe of breaching the verbal and written contract. He said: 'Lasizwe Dambuza, would you and your team like to pay me for breaching a contract that we had or are you guys gonna keep ignoring me or lying at every turn and say that you are gonna give me a response?' Zaca further shared that he did not sign an agreement that stated that their episode will air on DSTV since they only gave Lasizwe and his team permission to air the episode on social media. The human rights activist also demanded to know who is refusing to pay the funds. Zaca asked: 'So between the production company, wena Lasizwe and Multichoice, who is keeping my money and not giving me my money? Who is withholding the apology that I rightfully deserve?"
