Eli Roth Reveals Title for His ‘Most Terrifying & Insane' Horror Movie Yet
Speaking to Variety, Roth revealed that his next movie will be called Ice Cream Man. According to Roth, the movie is his 'most terrifying and insane' yet, and will follow the story of an 'idyllic summer town descending into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results.'
Despite sharing the name of another horror movie from 1995, this Ice Cream Man is based on an original idea Roth had over 20 years ago. The filmmaker will write the script and direct, which will be fully financed by The Horror Section, a brand-new independent studio from Roth.
According to him, The Horror Section's creation will hopefully allow him to return to making independent horror movies. He also mentioned that financing for Ice Cream Man was originally hard to come by, with studios feeling 'antsy' about it.
Most recently, Roth was the director for 2024's Borderlands adaptation. He is much more known in the world of horror, though, having directed 2002's Cabin Fever, 2005's Hostel, 2023's Thanksgiving, and more.

Hollywood Icon, 80, Appears in a New Movie With Son After Career Confession originally appeared on Parade. Michael Douglas said he wouldn't go back to acting unless a 'special' opportunity presented itself – and it looks like the perfect project fell in his lap. The TODAY show shared the first teaser for the upcoming film Looking Through Water, a movie in which Michael, 80, will star alongside his eldest son, Cameron Douglas. In the clip, the Hollywood legend was seen in character as he chatted with a seemingly troubled young boy, who displayed a massive black eye. While sitting in a fishing boat in a pond-like body of water, dramatic clips of the movie flashed on screen, introducing Cameron, 46, to viewers. Looking Through Water follows a family's troubled dynamic, bouncing from one storyline to another – all while intertwined. Michael's character, however, will attempt to repair an estranged relationship with his son while competing in a fishing competition together. Walker Scobell, David Morse, Michael Stahl-David, Ximena Romo and Tamara Tunie will also star in the film. Looking Through Water will premiere in theatres on September 12. Michael and Cameron's onscreen collaboration marks more than two decades since they first co-starred in the 2003 film It Runs in the Family. The Fatal Attraction star welcomed Cameron with ex-wife Diandra Luker on December 13, 1978. Michael later welcomed his youngest children, Dylan Douglas and Carys Douglas, during his marriage to his current wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones. The news of Michael's new movie may come as a shock to some fans, as the Wall Street actor recently shared that he is slowly closing the curtain on his acting career. "I have not worked since 2022 purposefully because I realized I had to stop,' Michael told Variety in July of his battle with stage 4 cancer following his 2010 diagnosis. 'I had been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set. I have no real intentions of going back. A new report from The Wall Street Journal reveals that audio of Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver screaming at each other in Noah Baumbach's 'Marriage Story' is being used by the United States Department of Agriculture to scare off wolves from killing cattle and scaring livestock on farms across the America. The fight scene is the most emotionally volatile moment in Baumbach's 2019 drama, which earned both Johansson and Driver Oscar nominations. Per the WSJ: 'Riding to the rescue are drone cowhands, whose quadcopters have thermal cameras that can reveal any wolf lurking in the darkness and bathe it in a spotlight. A loudspeaker broadcasts alarming sounds like fireworks, gunshots and people arguing. One recording is of the fight between Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver in the movie 'Marriage Story.'' 'It seems that there was a political element, at least in appearance. To a certain degree, the message is that if corporations are going to buckle to the whims of an autocrat, an authoritarian, then all of art and what we know as freedom of expression is compromised. The writing is on the wall for late-night in general because people don't watch TV like that. I felt like a mixture of both. I don't think it's a complete fabrication that it was a business decision, but the other part of it, in terms of trying to appease this monster president, that should not be done.' When asked about how new mediums and digital platforms will shape the future of TV, Maron admitted that he was unsure of what's next. 'Show business is shrinking,' he said. 'People are entrepreneurial and building their own show businesses that eventually get appropriated and used by what's left of mainstream show business and streamers. Hopefully, enough interest and focus will be put on original productions, film and television. You have to hope for the best, or everything just turns to garbage.' In 'The Bad Guys 2,' Maron reprised his role as expert safecracker Mr. Snake. After struggling to find jobs as ex-convicts and framed for a crime they didn't commit, the Bad Guys are forced to complete another heist with newcomers, the Bad Girls. In the Bad Girls trio is a wry raven named Doom (aka Susan), whom Mr. Snake falls smitten for, and is voiced by Natasha Lyonne. 'She has no problem being flirty, seductive and uniquely sexy,' Maron said about working with Lyonne. 'I opened up to it and became jello. That was good for Mr. Snake. It worked that we were able to spend so much time in the studio together.' Rounding out the cast are Sam Rockwell (Mr. Wolf), Craig Robinson (Mr. Shark), Anthony Ramos (Mr. Piranha), Awkwafina (Ms. Tarantula), Alex Borstein (The Police Commissioner), Danielle Brooks (Kitty Kat) and Maria Bakalova (Pigtail). According to Maron, Mr. Snake and Doom's romantic trope was almost buried underneath the other plots present in the film. 'Originally, the romance got lost in the chaos of the ending with everything else going on,' he explained. 'When I saw an early cut, I told them, 'You started this thing. You should land it.' They realized it was an oversight, and they closed the circle.' Maron said having an off-screen friendship with Lyonne created 'a safe space' for building the chemistry between their characters. 'We let it happen,' he said. 'We know each other well enough to let that happen in a safe space. We pushed it. It was interesting because she takes me for a ride, which I think would be seen as a betrayal by some, but Mr. Snake was impressed with it. I liked playing that a little bit.'
