The beloved animated film series 'Toy Story' is making a comeback with its 5th instalment! The production studios shared the first look of the next movie alongside various other animated projects on its slate.
A first look revealed
Themakers unveiled the first look of Toy Story 5, along with various other projects that they will be releasing in the coming years. The announcement was made at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival as part of a large panel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Some of the other projects that were revealed during the session were 'Hoopers', 'Gatto', and 'Elio'. During the event, the studio's chief creative officer,
Pete Docter
, took over the panel to showcase the first look at 'Toy Story 5'.
He shared behind-the-scenes videos and photos of the making of the 5th instalment and even confirmed the return of some of the most beloved stars in the franchise. Old names like
Tom Hanks
,
Tim Allen
and Joan Cusack will be returning to the animated screen for the next film.
Not only that, but the film that has been directed by Andrew Stanton and McKenna Harris also got an official release date as well! As per the event announcements, the release of 'Toy Story 5' is scheduled for June 19, 2026.
About 'Toy Story 5'
The plot will pick up where it left off in the 4th movie, i.e., Bonnie Anderson becoming their new owner; however, with a tech-influenced plot twist.
The toys are seen battling technology in this new franchise, with the creative director labelling it as 'It's Toy meets Tech'. The gang will have to fight against growing technology and children who are more interested in screens and gadgets rather than toys.
One of the characters in 'Toy Story' called Combat Carl was voiced by Carl Weathers; however, after the actor's demise, the franchise will see Eric Hudson taking over the role and voicing the character.
