Mohammed bin Rashid meets top-performing graduates of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences
DUBAI (ALETIHAD)His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday met with the top-performing graduates of the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) at the Union House in Dubai.His Highness congratulated the graduates on their academic achievements, praising the dedication and scientific distinction they demonstrated—values that reflect the founding principles of the University and the UAE's ongoing pursuit of excellence in education and healthcare.During the meeting, His Highness highlighted the importance of nurturing talent capable of shaping the future of medicine and scientific research in the region. His Highness said the graduates represent key pillars in the UAE's ambition to build a world-class academic and healthcare ecosystem that attracts leading minds from around the globe.His Highness said, 'We take pride in these achievements, which form part of the broader success story the nation is building. This academic excellence stands as a testament to the UAE's ability to shape the future by nurturing exceptional minds across vital sectors.'
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid added, 'The Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences has become a beacon of modern knowledge and an incubator for innovation in the healthcare sector. It plays a vital role in preparing future leaders in medicine and scientific research—fully aligned with our vision to position the UAE as a global centre for knowledge and advanced healthcare.'
The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Member of the Dubai Health Board of Directors and Chairperson of MBRU Council; His Excellency Dr. Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority; His Excellency Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of MBRU; Dr. Hanan Al Suwaidi, Acting Chief Academic Officer of Dubai Health and Provost of MBRU; and members of the MBRU Council.
The 2025 graduating class comprises 164 students from 30 nationalities, across 30 academic programmes. Among them are 129 female graduates, including 52 Emiratis.

Abu Dhabi recorded 15,628 Emirati births in 2024
The number of births in Abu Dhabi reached 39,333 in 2024. According to the Department of Health and the Statistics Centre, 15,628 were Emiratis, of which 8,298 were males and 7,330 females. Meanwhile, non-Emirati births reached 23,492, comprising 12,174 males and 11,318 females. Abu Dhabi city had the most births with 27,353, followed by Al Ain with 10,874 and Al Dhafra with 996. In Al Dhafra region, there were 318 Emirati births, including 181 males and 137 females, and 675 non-Emirati births, including 374 males and 301 females. The month with the highest number of births was October 2024, with 3,623 babies born in Abu Dhabi. February saw the fewest births, at 3,004. Separately, the number of deaths in Abu Dhabi reached 4,499, according to statistics published by the Department of Health and the Statistics Centre. 1,332 were citizens, including 797 males and 535 females. Meanwhile, the number of deaths among non-citizens was 3,150, comprising 2,211 males and 937 females. Of these, 275 were children under the age of five, 218 were infants (under one year old) and 132 were newborns (under one month old). The under-five mortality rate was 6.99 per 1,000 live births. The infant mortality rate was 5.54 per 1,000 live births. The neonatal mortality rate was 3.36 per 1,000 live births. UAE and Jordan lead 59th aid airdrop into Gaza
The UAE and Jordan carried out the 59th airdrop operation of humanitarian aid into Gaza on Friday, alongside seven aircraft from France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The efforts were part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, which aims to deliver food and relief supplies to the most affected areas in the strip. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, spoke by phone with Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The two sides discussed the latest developments of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and ways to enhance joint co-ordination in relief efforts. UAE aid to Gaza The UAE has provided more than $1.5 billion in humanitarian support to Gaza since the start of the war with Israel, authorities revealed on Friday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs set out the scale of the country's commitment to the enclave and pledged to continue to deliver support amid 'continuing catastrophic conditions'. According to the UN's financial tracking Service, the Emirates has delivered more aid to Gaza than any other country. The assistance includes providing medical support to 72,280 patients at hospitals in the UAE and the floating hospital in Al Arish, Egypt. In addition, over 78,000 tonnes od food, medicine, and emergency supplies have been distributed in co-ordination with international humanitarian organisations. At least 60,249 Palestinians have been killed and 147,089 wounded since the war with Israel began in October 2023, according to the Hamas-run Gazan health ministry.

ADFD attends opening of Jordan Digital Health Centre
In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Al Hussein Bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), represented by Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General, participated in the official inauguration of the Jordan Digital Health Centre, a pioneering virtual hospital initiative. This initiative is part of the UAE's broader grant, managed by ADFD, to enhance development projects aligned with Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision 2023-2025, with a total funding of Dhs1.5 billion. These projects further contribute to Jordan's National Council for Future Technology agenda and reinforce the UAE's ongoing commitment to driving strategic development partnerships in the region. The Jordan Digital Health Centre aims to connect healthcare centres and create an integrated electronic medical records management system through a unified digital platform, to enhance Jordan's healthcare sector in delivering remote care services aligned with international standards. Executed through the support of UAE-based company 'Presight,' a leader in advanced technology and AI-driven digital solutions, in collaboration with Jordan's Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, this centre marks a strategic milestone in enhancing Jordan's digital health infrastructure. During the ceremony, Prince Al Hussein extended his appreciation to the UAE's leadership, President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. He emphasised that this initiative underscores the enduring strategic ties between the two nations and their commitment to advancing sustainable development and economic integration across key sectors.
