Tshituka to debut for Springboks against Italy
Tshituka, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, impressed in the 54-7 victory over the Barbarians in Cape Town last Saturday, but that was a non-cap game and so will officially debut against the Italians in Pretoria.
Damian Willemse returns at fullback and Handre Pollard takes over from Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu in an otherwise unchanged backline. Morne van den Berg keeps his place at scrumhalf.
Regular captain Siya Kolisi remains sidelined with injury so the back row of the scrum will feature Tshituka, Marco van Staden and number eight Jasper Wiese, who returns from a long injury absence.
Eben Etzebeth is back to partner Lood de Jager in the second row, while Malcolm Marx starts at hooker with props Ox Nche and Wilco Louw either side of him.
"We have a big squad, and we would like to balance the game time within the group, while at the same time maintaining continuity in selection, and we believe this is the team that will be best suited for what we want to achieve against Italy," coach Rassie Erasmus said.
"If one goes through this team, there are so many leaders, and we were impressed with how Jesse (Kriel) accepted the responsibility of wearing the captain's armband last week."
Lock RG Snyman, scrumhalf Faf de Klerk and fullback Willie le Roux are all two-time World Cup winners who will be on the bench this week. If the latter enters the field he will earn a 99th test cap.
The fixture is the first of two tests against Italy this month. The Springboks will also host Georgia on July 19.

Farrell impressed in patches as Lions steamroller Reds
British & Irish Lions coach Andy Farrell was happy with how his team settled to their task after conceding two early scores as they ran in eight tries to beat the Queensland Reds 52-12 in Brisbane on Wednesday. As against the Western Force in Perth on Saturday, the tourists had their line breached in the first quarter before dominating the contest and running up the score. "Impressive in patches again," Farrell said. "We played some nice rugby after we settled down. I think the first 10 minutes, the Reds started pretty well and we'd a few errors on top of one another. "But I thought we was nice and composed, even though it was a bit stop start for us as far as continuity is concerned. But we ended up playing some nice rugby in the end." Difficulties can be expected when you are bringing players from four nations together over a short period and issues at the restart, handling errors as well as a couple of scrum penalties will not have pleased Farrell. Scrumhalf Jamison Gibson-Park returned from a glute injury that ruled him out of the loss to Argentina and the win over Western Force, however, working well with Finn Russell in what is expected to be the test halves combination. Once they settled, the Lions looked impressive in attack and defence, holding their opposition scoreless after halftime for the second match in a row. "We weren't happy with the start of our game," said Farrell. "I think we started a little bit better in the second half. And I think the quality of the bench and the example that the benches have set in the other two games has been top draw. "Competition for places, that's what we're after, isn't it? And everyone's got to play right through to the final whistle." The Lions lost scrumhalf Tomos Williams for the remainder of the tour with a hamstring injury and now have concerns over fullback Elliot Daly, who was replaced with what looked like a wrist injury against the Reds. The experienced England outside back has been among the better performers in the first three matches of his fourth Lions tour and scored two tries against the Force.

Jaiswal leads India to 98-2 in second test v England
BIRMINGHAM, England :India were 98-2 at lunch on the opening day of the second test against England at Edgbaston on Wednesday as Yashasvi Jaiswal anchored the innings with an unbeaten 62 off 69 balls. After being put into bat, India lost opener KL Rahul cheaply and Karun Nair, who was promoted up the order, fell for 31 just before lunch, with skipper Shubman Gill joining Jaiswal at the crease. While England went with an unchanged lineup, India made three changes, resting pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as they manage his back issues through the series. Sai Sudharsan and Shardul Thakur were dropped, with Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep coming into the playing 11 as Gill looked to ensure India could bat deep after the tail collapsed twice in the first test loss at Headingley. India's openers survived a couple of close lbw appeals early in the innings as the ball moved around in cloudy conditions, with the home side reviewing two decisions and the umpire's call saving India on both occasions. Chris Woakes struck in his opening spell when Rahul looked to defend a rising delivery, only to deflect the ball onto the base of his off stump and depart for two. Nair was promoted to number three and he immediately attacked England's fast bowlers as he stitched together an 80-run partnership with Jaiswal. With the ground suddenly bathed in sunshine, Nair dug in and treated the crowd to a few exquisite drives as he scored at nearly a run a ball early in his knock. Jaiswal also found his groove and struck three boundaries off Josh Tongue while Ben Stokes conceded 13 runs in his first two overs. The Indian opener did not let up and he quickly brought up his half-century with a hook to deep backward square before leaping off his feet to cut another Tongue delivery over point. Stokes brought Brydon Carse back into the attack and the change worked immediately when Nair was surprised by a short ball, nicking it straight to second slip where Harry Brook took a simple catch.

Itoje returns with a try as Lions overwhelm Reds in Brisbane
Skipper Maro Itoje celebrated his return with a try as the British & Irish Lions pulled away in the second half to beat the Queensland Reds 52-12 in their second tour match in Australia on Wednesday. Tommy Freeman grabbed two tries and Andrew Porter, Duhan van der Merwe, Jac Morgan, Huw Jones and Gary Ringrose all also crossed as the Lions disappointed those in the 46,435 crowd at Brisbane's Lang Park who were hoping for an upset. Itoje was rested for the match against the Western Force last weekend, leading to some conjecture that his test place was under threat, but he made a mockery of the idea with a statement performance in the second row. "I guess as a team, we just wanted to be better today, we wanted to take a step forward," Itoje said. "And as always, it was rugby. It wasn't perfect but I think, generally speaking, it was a step in the right direction." Jeffery Toomaga-Allen and Josh Flook had given the local fans hope of an upset with tries in the first 26 minutes before the tourists, who made nine handling errors in the first half, hit their formidable stride. Like the Force in Perth, the Reds started strongly and a multi-phase move triggered by a Hunter Paisami line break in midfield led to former All Blacks prop Toomaga-Allen going over under the posts. Bundee Aki was adjudged held up from a rolling maul in the 12th minute but the Lions made no mistake from their next attacking lineout, moving the ball quickly along the backline for winger Freeman to cross. The Lions took a more direct route to regain the lead, the forwards battering down the front door from a quickly taken tap penalty with prop Andrew Porter getting the ball down. AKI BENDS THE LINE The final try of the opening half was equally simple with Finn Russell shifting the ball left through quick hands and Van der Merwe using his size to go over in the corner and give the tourists a 21-12 lead at the break. Aki bent the line in familiar fashion soon after the restart and Itoje went over under the posts after a flurry of offloads, flyhalf Russell adding his fourth conversion to extend the lead to 28-12 before making way for Fin Smith. The Reds were still going through phases in attack but finding it difficult to make any headway through the Lions defence, a problem not shared by their opponents. Flanker Morgan ran a neat line to cross in the 59th minute, Freeman scored his second try on the hour mark and centre Huw Jones plucked a Tim Ryan chip out of the air and raced away to score the team's seventh. Centre Gary Ringrose, who had come on for the injured Elliot Daly, rounded out the scoring after the hooter with a try in the corner on the overlap. "Sometimes you just come up against a better side and that was it tonight," said Reds skipper Jock Campbell. Daly, who looked to have injured his wrist, was in the team only after the original fullback Hugo Keenan withdrew just before kickoff because of illness. The Lions play the New South Wales Waratahs, ACT Brumbies and an invitational Australia-New Zealand XV over the next three weeks before the first test against the Wallabies in Brisbane on July 19.
