Fort Myers, Jacksonville make list of 10 best dinner theaters in United States

Yahoo28-04-2025
USA Today just announced its 10 best dinner theaters in the country — and two of them have Southwest Florida connections.
Fort Myers' popular Broadway Palm came it at No. 10. And another dinner theater owned by the same company — Fort Myers-based Prather Productions — made it all the way to No. 3: The Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Prather Productions CEO Will Prather, who also manages Broadway Palm, says he has 'no idea' how they got nominated, but he appreciates what he calls 'a very nice accolade.'
'Our family's been in this industry now for multiple decades…' he says. 'It's a testament to how resilient our family's been.'
The ranking was announced Wednesday by the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards, an ongoing series that highlights the best in travel, dining and lifestyle.
For the series, USA Today invites a panel of industry experts to nominate their favorites in a wide variety of categories. Then 10Best editors select the nominees to be presented to the voting public for four weeks.
Broadway Palm wasn't the only Florida place to land in USA Today's 10 best dinner theaters. Jacksonville's Alhambra Theatre & Dining took the top spot at No. 1.
Not bad, considering there are only three professional dinner theaters left in the state, according to Prather. Naples Dinner Theatre along Immokalee Road closed in 2007 after opening in 1975.
He says he appreciates the national attention for an industry that used to be much more widespread. There were 10 dinner theaters in Florida, he says, when he moved to Fort Myers in 1993.
'It was nice to see our industry acknowledged,' he says. 'These dinner theaters have survived all these ups and downs —- and the recessions, and COVID — and they've been able to keep their doors open and they're growing. They're maintaining their customer base.'
USA Today's announcement described dinner theaters as 'a brilliant fusion of culture, cuisine, comfort and community.'
'There's no pairing more iconic for an evening out than dinner and a show,' said the article announcing the winners. 'And dinner theaters provide both fine dining and top-shelf entertainment under one roof.'
Here's what the 10Best Readers' Choice Awards had to say about Broadway Palm, the Dutch Apple and the Alhambra:
The Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre has been putting on dinner theater shows for more than 30 years. Buffet meals are served before each show, and guests can order plated dinners on Friday and Saturday nights in the Main Theater. Menu offerings change with each show, and there's even a special kids' menu for productions in the Children's Theatre. The Main Theatre puts on concerts and Broadway shows like "Annie" and "Legally Blonde: The Musical."
Since 1987, the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre has entertained the people of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The theatre's dining room only seats 320 people at a time and presents shows that range from "A Chorus Line" to "Hairspray" and "The Full Monty." Buffet-style meals include a wide range of options, and there's a full-service bar on hand as well.
America's longest continuously-operating dinner theater, Jacksonville's Alhambra Theatre & Dining began putting on shows back in the 1960s. With a winning combination of concerts and Broadway favorites like "My Fair Lady" and "West Side Story," the theater's season runs year-round. They offer three-course gourmet meals, which are served as soon as the theater is open to seating. Many shows sell out quickly, so if you're going to Jacksonville on vacation, be sure to plan ahead for this much-beloved local experience.

Dangbei Introduces the 'N2 mini' Portable Projector

Dangbeihas been making waves in theprojectorspace for a while now, having launched the world's first officially Netflix-licensed 4K laser projectorlast year. More recently, the brand introduced theDangbei N2 mini– a portable projector that sits on the opposite end of the spectrum from its flagshipMars Pro 2, both in terms of size and price – adding an accessibly priced yet feature-rich option to its growing lineup. TheDangbei N2 miniis one of the brand's smallest projectors, weighing just under 3.8 pounds and standing about 9.5-inches tall. Yet despite its compact size, it packs a surprising amount of features and functionality, including Dangbei's proprietary, AI-poweredInstanProtechnology – the same that's found in its larger and more expensive models. Unlike Dangbei's other models, though, the N2 Mini runs on a Linux-based smart operating system rather than Google's Android TV. One likely reason for this is to avoid Google's costly licensing fees – a decision presumably to help keep the projector's price accessible. It's worth noting, however, that this doesn't come at the expense of features or functionality. Despite its simple interface, the Linux-based operating system (OS) is both easy to use and visually appealing, and it comes preloaded with officially licensed apps including Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube. These apps can also be launched with a single click, thanks to dedicated buttons on the projector's remote, and Dangbei says there are over 300 additional apps available to download onto the device – though, naturally, these don't have their own dedicated buttons on the remote. The main body of theN2 mini– the actual projector – sits on a stand that doubles up as a gimbal and offer users 190° of built-in tilt options – including ceiling projection. Simplicity is a recurring theme with the N2 and the gimbal is operated by gently pushing in the preferred direction; there's no locking mechanism, it it simply holds itself in place. TheDangbei N2 miniprojects native 1080p visuals in sizes between 40 and 120-inches, and features 200 lumens of maximum brightness. While this doesn't sound very bright on paper, it performs surprisingly well in daylight and excels in smaller rooms with lower light – think evenings and spaces with drawn curtains. Additionally, the included InstanPro technology means theminiwill automatically resize and straighten the image to give you the best view possible, while offering automatic focusing and keystone correction. Connectivity options include both Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6, with input ports consisting of one HDMI and one USB-A 2.0. There's also a 3.5mm audio output, allowing users to connect headphones or wired speakers if the built-in six-watt speakers don't cut it. Perhaps surprisingly, given its modest audio hardware, the N2 supports Dolby Audio, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus. TheDangbei N2 miniis available now via the brand'swebsiteand select retailers priced at £199 GBP / $229 USD / €279 EUR.

What's going on with JaNa and Kenny from 'Love Island?' Fans parse following lists for clues

The "Love Island USA" fandom is in a desperate search for answers about one of their favorite couples. Social media users are speculating about a possible rift in the beloved Season 6 cast after JaNa Craig appeared to remove almost all of her content with boyfriend Kenny Rodriguez from her Instagram grid on July 27. Not only that, but Instagram accounts for her fellow PPG (the self-appointed Power Puff Gang) members Leah Kateb and Serena Page, and their respective partners, Miguel Harichi and Kordell Beckham, have all appeared to unfollow Rodriguez. Most of the cast of their Peacock spinoff show "Love Island: Beyond the Villa," currently in its first season, are also not following Rodriguez. None of the cast members have publicly commented on the apparent rift. The comments sections for Craig's past posts have also been limited. USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Craig and Rodriguez for comment. Peacock did not respond to a request for comment. Finalists from "Love Island USA's" breakout season last year, Craig, 28, and Rodriguez, 25, have been in a relationship since leaving the villa in July 2024. They confirmed their relationship status in the Season 6 reunion, which dropped the following month. 'They're very toxic': Why Kaylor Martin won't watch 'Beyond the Villa' On Peacock's "Love Island" spinoff, Rodriguez and Craig are navigating their relationship while living in close quarters for the first time in Los Angeles. Fan accounts and close watchers of reality TV-related drama rang the alarm on a possible uncoupling on July 27, which prompted a close watch of other "Beyond the Villa" cast members' social media accounts. "Red alert ring the alarm," journalist Christina Cocca wrote alongside a post with screenshots of Craig's Instagram. Kenny and JaNa previously said communication was their strength While speaking with USA TODAY in separate interviews on July 8, Rodriguez and Craig opened up about navigating a relationship that is also intertwined with their careers as influencers. "We're very communicative when it comes to those things: what we feel comfortable putting out there (and) what we don't. And I think that's just the sign of a healthy relationship," Rodriguez said. Craig, seated with Page on one side and Kateb on the other, admitted that it has worked best to keep some things for themselves when fans demand more couples' content. "I feel like your relationship is very private. You know, just you and your partner communicating 24/7," Craig said. "Whereas publicly it's like putting yourself out there, understanding what your viewers and your supporters want and navigating through that and whatever you're comfortable with."
