"T-Wrecks" is known for his knockout finishes – but not this time.
On the UFC 317 prelims, Terrance McKinney submitted Viacheslav Borshchev in 55 seconds at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
McKinney (17-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC) immediately resorted to his wresting roots and dragged the fight to the ground. Once there, McKinney immediately countered Borshchev's attempt to scramble upward with a guillotine choke – and quickly got the tap.
With the win, McKinney has won back-to-back fights with first-round finishes.
Borshchev (8-6-1 MMA, 3-5-1 UFC) has lost back-to-back fights and three of his most recent four.

UFC 317 results: Joshua Van out-dogs Brandon Royval in elite flyweight thriller

Joshua Van has arrived. If it wasn't already apparent that he's elite, Van (15-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC) proved that Saturday at UFC 317 when he defeated Brandon Royval (17-8 MMA, 7-4 UFC) by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27) in an elite flyweight featured fight at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Van's power and timing proved the difference. In Round 1, he out-timed Royval in the exchanges and appeared to land the more effective shots. Although Rovval came on strong in Round 3, Van dug deeped and out-dogged "Raw Dawg." In the final moments of the bout, Van may have stole the fight on the judges' scorecards as he badly stunned and dropped Royval. Though the buzzer saved Royval, he was still wobbly when he got up the shake hands with Van after the horn. The bout was one of the year's best by many accounts. Van and Royval showed off elite technical abilities, but also provided exciting levels of violence. Prior to the bout, Dana White said the winner of the bout would be next for the winner of Saturday's co-main event between flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja and challenger Alexandre Pantoja. Van, 23, made his amateur debut in December 2020 and his professional debut in October 2021. He's fought at incredible pacing with 17 fights as a professional in under four years. Since a knockout loss to Charles Johnson in July 2024, Van has won five-straight fights. Royval, 32, entered UFC 317 off back-to-back wins over Brandon Moreno and Tatsuro Taira. The victories followed a title challenge loss to Alexandre Pantoja in December 2023. Up-to-the-minute UFC 317 results:

Midnight Mania! ‘That's A Long Time To Be Dehydrated'

Welcome to Midnight Mania! Let's start things off by looking back at the three biggest stories from earlier today: UFC 317's prefight press conference went down Thursday night in 'Sin City.' This included a long-awaited staredown between headliners Ilia Topuria and Charles Oliveira. A fighter was electrocuted during his post-fight celebration and then decided to go for a swim. There's really nothing else more to say. This is a MUST WATCH. Newly minted UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall wants to fight twice in the second half of 2025. If Ciryl Gane is presumably his first title defense then who would Aspinall fight second? Insomnia Here's Charles Oliveira will another worrisome weight cut ahead of UFC 317. Keep in mind this footage was before Thursday's pre-fight press conference. Advertisement Even UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski reacted to Oliveira's early weight cut. 'You shouldn't be doing that [this early]... If he's cutting weight now and then he has to do a press conference later tonight... I mean, that's a long time to be sort of dehydrated. You should be rehydrating.' Joe Rogan going in on unqualified MMA judges. Who's getting your vote? Do you agree with Izzy on this one? This wasn't awkward at all. How pumped are you for Alex Pereira's return to the Octagon? How good is this nickname? Sean Strickland being Sean Strickland. This doesn't sound good. Tom Aspinall is just pure class. Max Holloway giving his official breakdown of UFC 317's main event. Here's Anthony Joshua getting some work in with a random stranger in Barcelona. Will Ryan Span get back in the UFC win column? Slips, rips, and KO clips Here's every single one of Oliveira's UFC finishes. Random Land This is wild. Advertisement Sleep well, Maniacs! More MMA madness will be on the way. More from

'They're Working on It' – Top Heavyweight Drops Hint on Tom Aspinall's Next Fight

'They're Working on It' – Top Heavyweight Drops Hint on Tom Aspinall's Next Fight originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The UFC heavyweight division is finally beginning to take shape after months of uncertainty. With Jon Jones officially stepping away and Tom Aspinall crowned as the new king, the promotion seems ready to build momentum around a new era. One heavyweight contender, however, may already have the inside scoop—and he's not exactly being shy about it. Getty Images Ciryl Gane, 35, the current No. 1 ranked UFC heavyweight, dropped a telling nugget during a recent appearance on UFC Unfiltered. The Frenchman didn't just speculate—he all but confirmed what fans have been hoping to hear. Advertisement 'I know my manager has spoken with the matchmakers, and I know they're working on it,' Gane said. 'We're really confident this fight is going to happen, because I'm the number 1 contender.' This isn't just bravado. Gane's resume backs it up. He captured the interim title by finishing Derrick Lewis at UFC 265 and has remained a consistent force at the top of the division. Sure, his title unification bout against Jon Jones at UFC 285 ended quickly via submission—but since then, he's quietly put together two straight wins, including a gritty split decision over Alexander Volkov at UFC 310. And here's where it gets interesting: Aspinall and Gane have both faced Volkov—but with very different results. Gane went the distance in a tense, back-and-forth affair that ended in a split decision, leaving plenty of debate on the scorecards. Aspinall, on the other hand, bulldozed Volkov with a slick first-round submission, leaving no doubt and showcasing the kind of explosive finishing ability that makes him such a dangerous champion. It's the kind of contrast that adds fuel to the potential matchup: technical polish versus speed and power. Advertisement With both men circling the top, the stars appear to be aligning. As Dana White and the UFC look to plant the flag on this new heavyweight chapter, Gane's not-so-subtle confidence feels less like speculation and more like a backstage handshake away from reality. If the UFC wants fireworks for Aspinall's first defense, this matchup checks every box. Now it's just a matter of when—and where.
