UP to become a model state for carbon credit business: CM Yogi

Ayodhya, July 10 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to begin implementing a comprehensive plan aimed at promoting carbon absorption and institutionalising the carbon credit trade in the state. Marking the occasion of Van Mahotsav here yesterday , the Chief Minister has emphasized the importance of integrating Uttar Pradesh's green initiatives with the global carbon market. This, he said, would directly benefit gram panchayats, the forest department, and farmers. He said the state will now gain both global recognition and economic returns for its environmental efforts and UP is poised to become a model in the carbon credit trade. The CM highlighted that Amrit Sarovars, rejuvenated rivers, reservoirs, and forests across the state have the potential to absorb millions of tonnes of carbon dioxide. A scientifically structured approach will be adopted to quantify and certify these efforts, paving the way for generating revenue through carbon credits. He said, "Every panchayat will be registered for carbon credits based on activities such as tree plantation, water conservation, and organic farming. The government, in collaboration with expert institutions, will ensure a simplified and transparent certification process. A significant portion of the revenue from carbon credit trading will go directly to local communities." By linking carbon absorption and credit trading to grassroots efforts, a new model of environmental prosperity is being introduced in the state, he said while distributing award certificates to Anita Yadav and Sheela Devi for their contributions to the development of the Vedic Van, and to Shailaja Pandey, Shanti Devi, and Rakesh Kumar for their efforts in reviving the Tilodki Ganga River, in Ayodhya. Dummy cheques under the Carbon Credit Financing Scheme were presented to Mamta Pal, Shivkumar, and Ratan Singh. Additionally, fruit-bearing saplings were distributed to Aradhya Verma, Paranika, and Tejasvi Verma, promoting sustainable plantation practices. UNI MBD PRS

CM Chandrababu Naidu dons teacher's hat as 1.5 crore Andhra parents join mega PTM

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu Thursday took a 45-minute social science class for SSC students at the Zilla Parishad High School in Kothacheruvu while attending a parent-teacher meeting at the school. The state government had organised a mega PTM for lakhs of parents whose children are in schools across the state. The CM, who inaugurated the PTM at the Kothacheruvu ZP School, interacted with Class 10 students, reviewed their progress cards, and offered motivational counselling, encouraging them to aim for academic excellence. His 45-minute lecture covered topics such as conventional and non-conventional resources, fuel, power generation, patents, water resources, and the role of technology. Naidu's son and HRD and IT Minister N Lokesh Naidu also sat in the class. This was the second such PTM held to encourage more parents to keep their kids in schools and prevent dropouts. 'The more children you send to school, the more they will benefit in the future. Under the government's flagship scheme, Thalliki Vandanam, every mother who sends her children to school will receive Rs 15,000 per child per year. Keep sending your children to school daily and make sure they don't bunk,' Naidu said. The event saw participation from students, teachers, parents, school management committees, government officials, donors, and alumni. About 61,000 educational institutions and two crore people participated in the event, officials said. The first such mega PTM was held on December 7. A total of 74,96,228 students, 3,32,770 teachers and 1,49,92,456 parents took part in the event. The government plans to hold such interactions every year. This event gives parents an opportunity to understand how well their children are doing. The government will also provide comprehensive progress cards to parents regarding their children's performance. To make the PTM engaging, organisers also set up family photo booths, positive parenting sessions, and a special activity called Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, wherein students were encouraged to plant a sapling in their mother's name.
