The humble MacBook Air has come a long way since Steve Jobs pulled the first model out of a yellow envelope. The most recent model features Apple's highly efficient M3 chip, which gives it a stunningly long battery life, while still offering excellent performance—and many consider it to be the best laptop for most users. (To be fully transparent, we name the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 as the top pick in our best laptop guide, but the MacBook Air M3 is our best overall MacBook pick.)
At first glance, the MacBook Air M3 appears identical to the M2 model, but in reality, the two laptops are similar. They offer similar features, battery life, display quality, and more. But with an improved chip under the hood, the M3 is a better laptop, and we experienced this in our M3 model review. However, despite the M3 being better, for some it may still be worth saving the cash for a refurbished or used M2 model—and if you have a MacBook Air M2 already, it's probably not worth upgrading.
Here's a deeper look at the two laptops and what the major differences are.

Design
Credit: Reviewed / Timothy Renzi
On the left side of all M2 and M3 MacBook Air models, you'll find a MagSafe connector along with two USB-C 4 ports.
When considering Apple's Macbook Air M1 vs M2, Apple redesigned the MacBook Air for the M2 generation, giving it a more modern profile with flat edges that syncs with other current Apple products. That new design has stuck around; ultimately, the design is more or less the same between the M2 and the M3 MacBook Air.
The MacBook Air M2 not only represented a design refresh, it was also the introduction, or reintroduction, of a new display size. For the M2 series, Apple added a 15-inch MacBook Air model, and since then, you've been able to get a MacBook Air in either 13-inch or 15-inch sizes. That's good news for those who want a thin build and additional screen real estate.
The M2 and the M3 MacBook Air measure 0.44 inches, which is extremely thin. The 15-inch MacBook Air isn't much thicker, measuring 0.45 inches thick.
On the left side of all M2 and M3 MacBook Air models, you'll find a MagSafe connector along with two USB-C 4 ports. On the right side, the headphone jack can be found. That's it for ports though, and if you want more, you'll have to consider using a hub or buying a MacBook Pro instead.
Given that the design is identical between these two laptops, there's no winner in the design category.

Display
The design of these laptops is the same, as is the display tech. Both 13-inch MacBook Air models feature a 13.6-inch display with a 2560 x 1664 resolution, while the 15-inch models have a 15.3-inch screen with a 2880 x 1864 resolution. All models have a 500-nit brightness and a pixel density of 224 pixels per inch.
There's no big difference between the built-in displays on the M2 and M3 MacBook Air models. When it comes to display, it's more important to think about whether you want a 13-inch model vs a 15-inch model than whether you want an M2 or an M3.

Configurations and price
The M2 and M3 models have slightly different configuration options. The base M2 MacBook Air comes with an M2 chip and 8GB of RAM, which can be upgraded to 16GB or 24 GB. It also has 256GB of storage, which can be upgraded to up to 2TB.
The M3 model offers more than just a faster chip. The base M3 MacBook Air configuration has 16GB of RAM instead of 8 GB. The storage options are the same, starting at 256GB and ranging up to 2TB.
Both 13-inch models come with an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU, and they can both be upgraded to a 10-core GPU. The 15-inch M3 model has a 10-core GPU in its base configuration. Keep in mind that performance is much more than just the number of cores, and don't expect the 8-core CPU on the M2 to be as fast as the 8-core CPU on the M3.
At the time of this writing, Apple was still selling the 13-inch version of the M2 MacBook Air for $999—however, you can no longer buy [the 15-inch M2 model new. The M3 MacBook Air starts at $1,099 for the 13-inch model and $1,299 for the 15-inch model.
The M3 MacBook Air may be more expensive than the M2 model still available, but it has more configurations and you can still buy a new 15-inch M3 model.

Performance
The M2 and M3 models may offer similar core counts, but there's a lot more to performance. During our testing, the M3 MacBook Air showed around a 20% performance boost in benchmark tests.
What does that mean? Well, it won't unlock all new worlds of possibilities, but it will give you more headroom if you need a laptop to perform more demanding tasks. Not only that, but that extra headroom could come in handy towards the end of the laptop's lifespan, though that remains to be seen.
Unfortunately, Apple has yet to bring the Apple M4 chip to the MacBook Air—and it's entirely possible that it could skip the M4 and go straight to the M5.
There are some ways in which better performance makes for real-world improvements right off the bat. For example, the M3 MacBook Air can drive two external monitors, compared to only one for the M2 MacBook Air. Perhaps it's a niche use case, but if you do want to use multiple external monitors, it's something to keep in mind.
Our pick: M3 MacBook Air

Battery life
Credit: Reviewed / Adrien Ramirez
The battery life of the M3 MacBook Air is likely to be more than enough for most, the M2 model still has a longer battery life.
Apple rates all M2 and M3 MacBook Air models as offering the same battery life—up to 18 hours of video playback. That's pretty stellar, and most users should easily get a full workday of usage. If you don't use your laptop for a full day, you'll have no problem getting at least a few days of moderate usage before needing to charge.
Despite Apple rating the battery life as the same on these laptops, our tests of the 13-inch models revealed some differences. The MacBook Air M3 reached 10 hours and 24 minutes in our battery test while the M2 model lasted 17 hours. We suspect the M2 model wouldn't perform as well if it were running the latest version of macOS, and its improved battery is likely at least partially due to a less powerful chip.
Regardless, while the battery life of the M3 MacBook Air is likely to be more than enough for most, the M2 model still has a longer battery life.
Our pick: MacBook Air M2

And the winner is … M3 MacBook Air
No surprises here—Apple's newer laptop model is better. But only a bit better.
In other words, there's no reason to upgrade to the M3 model if you already have an M2 model. But, if you have an M2 model and you're reaching its performance limits regularly, consider upgrading to a MacBook Pro instead.
If you only use a laptop for basic tasks like web browsing, emails, and watching Netflix, save some cash by opting for an M2 model. A refurbished one will net you even greater savings. All said, if you prefer to buy the manufacturer's latest model, the M3 MacBook Air is an excellent machine.

If Bezos' Wealth Was Evenly Distributed Across the U.S., How Much Would We Get?

It's no secret that Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, is one of the richest people in the world. According to Forbes Real Time Billionaires List, Bezos tends to hover in the top five wealthiest humans on the planet, after Elon Musk and in the company of Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page and Warren Buffett. Read More: Find Out: But what if one day, Bezos decided to dismantle his empire and liquidate his assets in order to give everyone in the United States an equal share? GOBankingRates is checking the math to see how much money every American would have if every citizen got a piece of Bezos' wealth. Based on the U.S. Census Bureau's tracking and data, the total American population is at 341,891,315 as of June 2025. The numbers show that about one American is born every 9 seconds while another one dies about every eleven seconds, so the rate of growth and loss are fairly in step with one another. Theoretically, each of these people would receive an equal share of Bezos' fortune in a perfect world under ideal circumstances. In the real world, that could prove to be a Herculean task; however, for the sake of experimentation, everyone accounted for in the population will receive the same amount of Bezos' wealth at the same time on the same day. Discover Next: Forbes lists Jeff Bezos' net worth at $237 billion as of this writing, and he is considered to be one of the few people to be included in the $100 Billion Club. Using that figure and dividing it by the population of America, each person in the country would receive a sum in the range of $693.20. While that might not be a lot of money to some in the current economy, it would act similarly to a stimulus check or perhaps a holiday bonus. Bezos started from fairly humble beginnings and is now one of the richest people in the world. It might sound impossible to ever reach a salary that could cultivate wealth like Bezos', but it is not entirely out of the realm of possibility if you build for the future, not just for today. 'Bezos doesn't make decisions based on what looks good this quarter; he's thinking in five, 10, sometimes even 20-year timelines,' said Jamie Wall, a personal finance strategist at Gamblizard. 'Amazon didn't turn a profit until 2003, nearly a decade after it launched and seven years after going public.' 'For regular people, this means not basing every financial or career decision on short-term wins,' Wall concluded. 'Gaining wealth isn't a sprint, it's a marathon.' Will Taiwan Semiconductor Be a $2 Trillion Stock by 2030?

Taiwan Semiconductor is already a $1.1 trillion company. Management projects strong growth over the next five years. 10 stocks we like better than Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing › Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (NYSE: TSM) is currently a $1.14 trillion stock. So, for it to reach $2 trillion by 2030, it would need to rise by 75% over the next five years, delivering an 11% compound annual growth rate (CAGR). If you throw in Taiwan Semiconductor's 1% dividend yield, that means the stock would deliver about 12% returns over the next five years should TSMC (for short) rise to become a $2 trillion company. That's market-beating growth, which is exactly what many investors seek. So, is this a realistic time frame? I think it is, but there are also signs that this would be a relatively slow growth rate compared to what management is projecting. TSMC is the world's top contract chip manufacturer. That means it doesn't sell its chips on the open market; instead, it provides its chip production services to those that cannot make chips themselves -- which is nearly every big tech company. TSMC is the key supplier for Apple and Nvidia, along with countless other recognizable names. It has become the top partner due to its best-in-class technologies and excellent chip yields, which keep prices low compared to its competitors. As a result of all this, management has an excellent vision into the future since chip orders are often placed years in advance. This is especially true in the U.S., where its Arizona factory already sold out its capacity through 2027. Management believes that over the next five years, AI-related revenue will have a 45% CAGR. That's incredible growth when sustained for a relatively long time, and it results in an overall CAGR of nearly 20% for the next five years. As mentioned, TSMC only needs to grow its stock price by 11% each year to become a $2 trillion company. So if its revenue growth can directly translate to stock price appreciation, then it's well on its way to a $2 trillion market cap, crushing the market along the way. But that will happen only if the stock is reasonably valued. Some stocks have years of growth already priced into them, so even if TSMC is expected to have a nearly a 20% CAGR over the next five years, that may already be baked into the stock price. Fortunately for investors, the stock trades at a reasonable level. At 23.3 times forward earnings, TSMC's stock isn't as cheap as it was just a few months ago, but it's still reasonably priced from a market perspective. The S&P 500 trades for 22.8 times forward earnings, so the two are valued at about the same level. This is still a historically expensive valuation for the broader market, so investors need to understand that the valuation of those two could go down as the years progress, which will eat into some of the stock performance that a 20% CAGR over five years would deliver. However, there is still plenty of growth to propel TSMC to become a $2 trillion stock and deliver market-beating growth along the way. It's one of my top picks in the market right now, since I believe it will be a winner regardless of which AI company has the best technology. All of these AI hyperscalers have to run their workloads through something, and there's a high probability that it's through Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing chips. My Wife and I Are Never Splitting AirPods Again Thanks to This iPhone Trick

When my wife and I travel, we usually download some shows to watch on our flight. But when we watch those shows, we always have to split a set of AirPods so we each have one earbud. That means one of our ears is enjoying the show while the other is forced to endure whatever is happening around the plane, which can be a little distracting. But thanks to Apple's Audio Sharing feature, we can each enjoy a show together while using our own sets of AirPods. Audio Sharing was introduced with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in 2024. It allows two pairs of compatible AirPods or Beats headphones to pair with a single iPhone or iPad. So you and one other person can immerse yourselves into music, movies or a TED Talk without disturbing those around you. Read more: Everything Apple Announced at WWDC 2025 Here's how to share audio with another set of AirPods or Beats headphones. How to enjoy music and podcasts together You can share your audio with another pair of headphones by tapping your own headphone control. Apple/Screenshot by CNET 1. Open Music, Podcasts, Spotify or any similar app with your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone or iPad. 2. Start playing music or a Podcast. 3. Open your Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner of your screen. 4. Go to your audio controls page -- it's your second Control Center page by default. 5. Tap the AirPods logo near the bottom of your screen. 6. Tap Share Audio. 7. Bring the other pair of AirPods in their case or Beats headphones near your device. You might need to press the button on the back of your AirPods case to go into Pairing Mode. 8. Tap Share Audio when your device detects the other AirPods or Beats headphones. You can control the volume of both headphones from the connected device. Apple Each pair of headphones can change their own volume via headphone controls, or you can change the volume for each pair via the connected device. But you'll be able to enjoy a podcast or other music together without splitting a pair of AirPods or disturbing people around you. How to watch a movie or show with separate headphones Pairing another set of headphones to your device to watch a film or TV series is similar. Here's how. 1. Open Apple TV, Netflix, YouTube or another streaming app with your headphones in. 2. Start playing a film or show. 3. Swipe down from the top right corner of your screen to open your Control Center. 4. Go to your audio controls page -- it's your second Control Center page by default. 5.
