An Assortment of 7 ‘Valentine' Songs
Every once in a while, I like to compile a playlist composed entirely of songs with identical titles. You may recall that, last October, I sent out a newsletter about six different tracks vying to be the greatest 'The Greatest.' Today, in honor of a certain loved-and-occasionally-loathed holiday, I made a playlist of seven songs with the same timely, evocative name: 'Valentine.'
While most of these tracks are about romance, they vary widely in tone. Some — like the witty ditty from the precocious musician Laufey or a sloshed-but-smitten album cut from the Replacements — are rather heartfelt declarations of love. But, as Valentine's Day can stir up some sharp pangs for the heartbroken among us, a few of these songs — like wrenching tracks from Snail Mail and Fiona Apple — are also full of longing and loneliness.
This is certainly not a complete list of every song ever titled 'Valentine,' but it is a sampling of seven of my favorites. Whether you're buying roses for yourself or someone else this year, I hope you find at least one track that reflects your mood.

'Honeymoon dump,' Lovato wrote in the caption. 'Wifey,' Jutes commented on the post, along with: 'I love u so much.' The honeymoon update comes a few weeks after the pop star and Jutes tied the knot in California in late May. Lovato has shared a number of photos from the ceremony, including many of the gorgeous Vivienne Westwood gown they walked down the aisle in. Lovato and Jutes first made their relationship Instagram official in 2022 before getting engaged in 2023. 'My love, I'm beyond excited to marry you … every day I've spent with you has been a dream come true and I can't wait to love and cherish you forever,' the former Disney Channel star wrote at the time. Lovato echoed those thoughts in February this year while sharing snaps from an Old Hollywood-themed Valentine's Day photoshoot the couple did. 'Jordan, I cannot WAIT to marry you!!' she wrote at the time. 'The past 3 years have been the best 3 years of my life and I have you to thank for that. I'm obsessed with your heart, your love and your light. I can't wait to grow old with you and start a family together. Happy Valentine's Day to the love of my life. I love you honey!!!' In addition to being life partners, Lovato and Jutes are also collaborators. The latter helped to write multiple songs on his now-wife's 2022 album Holy Fvck, which reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200. Lovato is now working on their next album, telling Jimmy Fallon last September that the next project will likely reflect the lovey-dovey phase of life the singer is in now. 'I've been writing nothing but love songs and sexy songs, because I'm in this really good place,' she said at the time. 'It feels good to be able to write coming from that place.' 'I don't know when it'll come out,' Lovato added. 'But it'll come out when I'm ready.' Former first lady Michelle Obama has addressed Barack Obama split rumors in a new interview. Newsweek reached out to former President Barack Obama's representative outside regular working hours on Monday. The Obamas wed on October 3, 1992, and share two children together: daughtersMalia Obama, 26, and Sasha Obama, 24. Michelle Obama did not attend former President Jimmy Carter's state funeral in January. She later announced that she would also not be attending President Donald Trump's second presidential inauguration alongside her husband.
