Huge Muscle Car Chop Shop Busted In California
Police in Fresno, California are celebrating after they busted a muscle car chop shop recently, recovering about $3 million in stolen vehicles. Of course, those rides were in pieces, as you can see from the pictures. And we're sure many more had already been chopped by the people running the operation.Still, Fresno Police Department has reason to celebrate, having arrested seven people who collectively are facing 110 felony charges. This wasn't some small scale operation but instead was responsible for at least processing quite a few stolen muscle cars, if not also stealing them.
You can see whole dash assemblies, including steering wheels, all lined up nicely in one of photos police took after making the bust. A number of those steering wheels say SRT and most of the rest have the Dodge logo.
It's the same with trunk lids also recovered, with a few bearing the telltale Hellcat logo. The sheer scope of the chop shop's operation is impressive, in a disgusting sort of way.
According to Fresno Police Department, these guys were concentrating mostly on Mopar performance models: Chargers, Challengers, Durangos, and Trackhawks. But they also went for some Camaros and Infinitis, we guess to pad that tidy profit line.
If your muscle car went missing in the Fresno area, these guys might have been kind enough to chop it up and sell the pieces to people who wanted to save a buck on replacement parts for their ride.
Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down two people they saw were associated with the chop shop: 20 year-old Julian Calderon and 22 year-old Jordan Rios. Calderon is facing several criminal charges, including stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit a crime, and possess, manufacture, or distribute an assault weapon. Rios is wanted for possessing, manufacturing, or distributing an assault weapon.
We hope to see many more busts like this in the future. Sadly, taking down one car theft ring usually just means others are created or existing ones expand their operations.

A Maine man was killed when a 'mini cannon' projectile from a fireworks display struck him during a gathering among neighbors last weekend, according to authorities. KOAT The medical examiner's office ruled that Hennessey, a South Paris resident, was killed by a projectile that came from a mini cannon during the fireworks, the station reported. The death is still under investigation by the Maine State Police. The incident is one of numerous fatalities involving fireworks during the summer months, including an 8-year-old girl who was struck during a Fourth of July celebration this year and South Carolina father who was killed when he put a lit fireworks on his head last year.

Brantford man charged with assault by Brantford police and OPP
A Brantford man has been charged with violent crimes by two police services. Provincial police arrested Alveen Ahmed, 28, last week, charging him with sexual assault, assault and forcible confinement. It was related to an ongoing investigation into a sexual assault that took place in Brant County in January, according to a news release on Thursday. Earlier in July, Brantford police charged Ahmed with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault, related to an incident on July 13. An officer had found someone with 'serious injuries' from a 'physical and sexual assault' near Golf Road and Highway 403, a Brantford police release said. Brantford police released Ahmed's photo and a picture of his pickup truck, a black 2022 Dodge Ram, because they think there could be more victims. Following both arrests, Ahmed is out on a $20,000 bail. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. He's not to leave his residence except if he or an immediate family member has a medical emergency, or if he is with his surety. He's not to have any weapons or drive without his surety present. He is also subject to GPS monitoring. In a Facebook post on Monday, Brantford—Brant South—Six Nations MP Larry Brock pointed to it as an example of Canada's 'broken' catch‑and‑release bail system. The deranged 15-year-old accused of slaughtering all but one of his family members in their ritzy lakeside Washington mansion was kept isolated from the world and raised under a 'rigid, militant survivalist ideology,' his lawyer claims. Mark and Sarah Humiston drove their future killer son to the heinous crime after hammering him and his siblings with years of religious extremism and government paranoia, according to court documents filed last week. Prosecutors say their oldest son — whose identity has been kept under wraps — shot his parents, brothers Benjamin, 13, Joshua, 9, and sister Katheryn, 7, in the middle of the night in October. His 11-year-old sister survived the bloodbath by playing dead. 3 Mark and Sarah Humiston and three of their children were killed by their oldest son last fall. Facebook 'A common theme that has been expressed amongst extended family, neighbors, and those who knew the Humistons is that the children were isolated from the outside world and did not engage socially with many peers – only a select few families that went to their church and were friends of their family,' the court documents, obtained by KOMO News, said. 'Furthermore, initial reports indicate the home was abusive, tightly controlled, and dominated by extreme religious beliefs.' The killer and his dead siblings were homeschooled and kept under a 'rigid, militant survivalist ideology,' the documents claim. The teen opened fire around 5 a.m., chillingly shooting them and then returning to check their pulses. Only his sister, an 11-year-old, survived by playing dead when he fired at her neck and hand. She slipped out of a window to a neighbor's house before he could finish the job, police said. At the same time, the gunman called 911 and told dispatchers that his 13-year-old brother had killed their family and 'taken himself out' because he had gotten in trouble looking at pornography the night before. He then staged the bloody scene before first responders arrived in an attempt to pin the killings on his dead brother, even putting a gun in his hand, according to the charging documents. The teen was immediately taken into custody and faces five counts of first-degree aggravated murder and one count of first-degree attempted murder.
