Lorde sneaks into Sydney club to party with fans ahead of upcoming album release

Express Tribune26-05-2025
Lorde made an unexpected appearance at a Lorde-themed club night in Sydney on Sunday, delighting fans at Mary's Underground.
The event was a celebration of the New Zealand artist's discography, but few expected the singer herself to show up. According to attendees, she entered incognito before revealing herself on the dancefloor.
EMI Australia confirmed the visit was Lorde's 'impromptu decision,' with no label coordination. Fan Andrew Fraser said she mingled with attendees, dancing, greeting fans, and listening to stories about how her music impacted them.
'She almost refused to leave when her management were trying to usher her out,' the venue added.

During the night, Lorde joined the DJ booth and lip-synced to her remix of Girl, so confusing. She also sang along to her current single What Was That, which debuted last month at another surprise fan event in New York's Washington Square Park.
That gathering had to be shut down by police due to crowd size, and footage from it later featured in the single's official video.
Lorde's Sydney appearance comes just a month before the release of her highly anticipated new album Virgin, set for June 27. It will be her first studio album in four years.

LaMelo Ball's tattoo artist breaks silence after ‘Hot Chee Toes' tattoo goes viral

LaMelo Ball became the centre of online chatter after images surfaced suggesting the Charlotte Hornets star had tattooed 'Hot Chee Toes' across his foot. The fiery, Cheetos-themed design sparked both humour and disbelief, with fans flooding social media with reactions. However, Ball's tattoo artist Elvis Ramos has now confirmed that the tattoo was not real. Speaking in an Instagram video, Ramos explained the origin of the viral image and clarified that the foot in question did not belong to Ball. 'We tattooed LaMelo Ball. But those 'Hot Chee Toes'—those were not on Melo. We were just trolling,' Ramos said. 'The original artist is actually from California as well, but no, we didn't do that on Melo.' The prank had fooled thousands online, with some fans criticising Ball's supposed decision and others applauding the bold move. Reactions ranged from 'This can't be real' to 'Bro didn't break ankles, he toasted them.' Ramos added, 'We did do a leg sleeve on Melo, and we'll be posting that soon. But yeah, we were just trolling, man. The internet is crazy, bro.' Despite the joke, Ball remains known for his distinctive tattoo choices. His previous back piece took 18 hours and six artists to complete and reads 'Rare One,' reflecting his confident persona on and off the court. The Hornets, who struggled last season without Ball following a season-ending injury, are hopeful for a turnaround. Ball averaged 25.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.4 assists before his absence.

Elon Musk teases AI-powered Vine reviving buzz about defunct short-form video platform

Elon Musk says he's bringing back Vine, his time, 'in AI form.' The brief eight-word post on X set off waves of speculation about what that could mean for the long-defunct six-second video app. Originally launched in 2013 and shut down in 2017, Vine was once a viral hit before losing ground to competitors like Instagram and Snapchat. Musk's statement came without further detail, leaving followers to guess whether an AI-enhanced Vine could mean algorithmically generated content, automated editing tools, or synthetic creators. What's clear is that interest in the platform hasn't faded. His post quickly generated thousands of interactions and even affected the price of Vine-themed memecoins. This isn't the first time Musk has raised hopes for a Vine revival. In 2022, shortly after acquiring Twitter (now X), he ran a poll asking users if they wanted the app back, most responded with a resounding yes. Axios later reported that his team was actively exploring a reboot. The original Vine was acquired by Twitter in 2012 before being shut down in early 2017 during a platform restructure. Vine's co-founder Rus Yusupov reflected in 2022, 'We didn't build the right features in time' and 'didn't help creators monetise.' Still, no official timeline or product details have been confirmed by X. Whether this is a full relaunch or another idea from Musk that may or may not materialise remains to be seen.
