AN AIRPORT employee at a holiday hotspot was arrested for stealing a luxury watch and diamond bracelet worth £18,000 from a tourist's bag.
Spanish police at Palma airport arrested the staff member after he attempted to rob the unsuspecting tourist who was just about to travel back home.

The high-end watch and bracelet were taken after the visitor left his bag unattended at the airport.
The shocking ordeal unfolded in the capital of the Spanish holiday hotspot island Majorca, Spain.
He mistakenly left his bag alone when returning a rental vehicle at one of the booths inside the airport.
The backpack contained the luxury jewellery worth tens of thousands of pounds as well as other personal possessions.
After realising he had left his bag behind, the backpacker immediately rushed back to pick up his belongings.
To his horror, he realised his expensive possessions were missing after checking inside the bag.
He rushed to police and filed a report quickly.
Son Sant Joan officers launched a probe into the alleged theft.
And they discovered that one of the employees of the rental car cleaning company was the alleged thief.
They then arrested him and later managed to return the stolen goods to their rightful owner.

National Police took the opportunity to remind tourists that they should always be " attentive to the belongings we carry, especially in areas with large crowds or when accessing public transport or picking up or returning a vehicle in the parking lot".
They also issued a stark warning to staff members at the airport in Palma, Spain.
Cops said staff should always "hand over any belongings we find to the municipal services".
If employees failed to do this they would face "criminal and disciplinary liability".
They also said staff should always "issue a document justifying said delivery" of each lost and found item.
This "makes it easier for the affected person to locate their belongings".
In October of last year, a tourist who left his £50,000 Mercedes with airport meet and greet parking said his car disappeared when he came back from holiday.
The holidaymaker was duped into giving an international crime gang the keys to his silver C220 AMG Mercedes at Manchester Airport.

Ali then quickly reversed his SUV off the road, clipping the door of the Mercedes and damaging it so it would not close. After the botched assassination attempt, Betro allegedly returned to the property in a taxi and fired three times at the house, smashing several windows. Mr Walkling added: "On the seventh of September 2019 in a suburban cul de sac in South Yardley a would-be assassin tried to shoot a man called Sikander Ali at close range outside his house. She later dumped the Mercedes and police found a black glove with Betro's DNA inside, the court heard. "Further proof if any was needed ... that she was the gunwoman in the burka," Mr Walkling claimed. Six minutes later she was again caught on CCTV shown to the jury from close to where the car was dumped wearing a summer dress, hoodie and flip flops and carrying two bags. Mr Walkling added that 'revenge was the motive' after Nazir and Aslam were injured during a disorder at Aslat's clothing boutique in Birmingham in July 2018, which led them to conspire to have someone kill him or a member of his family. Betro was extradited from Armenia and arrested at Gatwick Airport earlier this year by National Crime Agency officers, the jury was told. Betro's two co-conspirators, Mohammed Nazir and his father, Mohammed Aslam both from Derby, were convicted and jailed last year. Both were convicted of conspiracy to murder while Nazir was also convicted of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Mr Walkling said: 'This case is about three incidents. An attempted shooting of a man outside his home, the shooting of bullets through the windows of that home, and the posting of illegal bullets from the USA to the UK." Mr Walkling said Betro was in contact with Nazir before she flew to Manchester Airport in August 2019. He said Betro had two phones - a normal "day to day" phone which she used regularly - and a "dirty phone" - bought before the shooting. Jurors were told that on August Betro also went to Birmingham and hired a Mercedes C Class car from Enterprise at Birmingham Airport. The car was later involved in a three car collision in Derby with Mohammed Nazir and another woman. Both later received insurance payouts, the court heard. She then stayed at a hotel in Derby for two nights before travelling to London and Brighton before returning to Birmingham and then back to Derby. The court was played a video clip - from Nazir's phone - showing a gun being fired into the ground three days before the attempted shooting in Birmingham which prosecutors said was a bid to "test" the weapon. The cold-hearted driver from Chesterfield then sped off without stopping and was so intoxicated he didn't even realise he had fatally hit a pedestrian. Byrne left members of the public to help Slinn but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Footage shown in court showed Byrne inhaling nitrous oxide gas from a yellow balloon several times while driving, before and after the collision. Slinn was a retired builder who was a keen singer in a local church and a valued member of the community. He was weeks away from celebrating his Diamond Wedding anniversary with his wife when he was killed. During Byrne's hearing, the courtroom heard he was a disqualified driver, driving without a license and insurance and using a false cloned number plate on the car. South Yorkshire Police were able to identify Byrne as having connections to the car with a false registration plate and he was arrested before being released on bail. Senior Officer in the case Chief Inspector Tom Woodward said: "We spent hours trawling footage to piece together the car's movements, while others were working hard to find the car, which was later found burned out in the Derbyshire area." Shock moment driver ploughs into cyclist on quiet country road before speeding off claiming 'I thought it was a sheep!' A breakthrough came when officers tracked the car from the collision to an an address several miles away. CI Woodward added: "Our aim was to ensure he could never harm anyone in our communities again.' Byrne was re-arrested on April 12 in Derbyshire and brought back to South Yorkshire custody where he was questioned by detectives. Byrne answered "no comment" throughout even when Slinn's family tribute was read aloud to him. However, he knew the evidence was stacked against him and pleaded guilty at a hearing in May. The court also heard how Byrne had convictions for 27 previous offences, including dangerous driving, despite having no driving license. Byrne was sentenced to 16 and a half years in prison after admitting causing death by dangerous driving and other offences. CI Woodward said: 'Our thoughts remain with Graham's family and friends, and I hope today's sentencing brings them some further closure knowing Byrne will now face a lengthy time in prison. 'We know those involved in criminality are likely to take greater risks and Byrne's behaviour is a true reflection of this and why the work of our roads policing officers is greatly important." Sentencing Byrne, Judge Richardson KC said inhaling nitrous oxide was an "exceptionally dangerous act while driving", and told Byrne that Slinn had "died of grievous injuries inflicted by your truly appalling driving". Richardson told Byrne: "You are a dangerous offender. "The public must be protected from your deviant, dangerous, and ingrained criminal behaviour."
