'Harry Potter' stars banned from driving after being caught speeding
Watson, 35, who played Hermione Granger, the friend of boy wizard Potter in the hugely popular movie franchise, was banned for driving at 38 miles (61 km) an hour in a 30-mile zone in southeastern Banbury last July.
Zoe Wanamaker, 76, who played Quidditch teacher Madame Hooch in "Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone", was banned for six months for her offence.
She had been caught driving at 46 miles an hour in a 40-mile zone of the M4 motorway in southeastern Berkshire last August.
The cases were dealt with separately by a lower magistrates court in the town of High Wycombe.
Neither of the stars attended the hearings, at which they were each fined £1,044 ($1,400).
Watson, who was stopped while driving her blue Audi, has been studying at Oxford University. Her lawyer told the court that although she was a student "she is in a position to pay the fine".

They said Iranian intelligence services were increasingly collaborating with international criminal organisations to target journalists, dissidents, Jewish citizens, and current and former officials in Europe and North America. 'This is unacceptable,' the statement said. 'We consider these types of attacks, regardless of the target, as violations of our sovereignty.' The statement called on Iranian authorities 'to immediately put an end to such illegal activities in our respective territories'. In October, Reuters reported that Iran was behind a wave of attempted assassinations and abductions across Europe and the US. The UK says it has disrupted more than 20 Iran-linked plots to kidnap or kill people in the country since 2022, including British citizens and others Tehran views as threats. The British government announced in March that it would require the Iranian state to register all political influence activities, citing increasingly aggressive behaviour by Tehran's intelligence services. In May, Tehran summoned the British charge d'affaires following the arrest of Iranian citizens on spying charges, triggering a reciprocal gesture in London. British police arrested seven Iranian citizens in two separate operations. Three men were charged last week with engaging in conduct likely to assist a foreign intelligence service. British intelligence officials said this month that Iran is hosting the headquarters of al Qaeda, giving the terrorist leadership a lifeline after years of setbacks. 'The transactional arrangement between Iran and the senior leadership of al Qaeda is concerning,' Parliament's security and intelligence committee reported. 'Being based in Iran has allowed [al Qaeda] to retain some oversight of franchises internationally, creating a complex intelligence landscape, as Iran is a less accessible environment for the West than other parts of the Middle East – which, in turn, may have increased the [al Qaeda] threat.' Washington has accused Iran of attempting to orchestrate assassination attempts on US soil. Abu Dhabi is getting ready for a spellbinding experience as Harry Potter: The Exhibition comes to Manarat Al Saadiyat. But before the exhibition, the UAE was already captivated by the wizarding world created by J K Rowling as fans of the Boy Wizard turned out to Dubai's Mall of the Emirates for the book launch of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in July 2016. The book featured the script of the then-new two-part play of the same name, which had its official premiere in London's West End. Fans of the eagerly awaited novel turned out to the Virgin Megastore inside the mall at 2am to be among the first to get a copy. The book went on sale at 3am, to coincide with the midnight launch in the UK. To set the mood, the Harry Potter movie theme music played in the background as fans dressed up for the occasion. Some had lightning-shaped scars on their foreheads, created with make-up pencils, while others wore the wizard's signature round eyeglasses. A woman wore a lavender wig – probably in honour of Nymphadora Tonks, a witch who died while defending Hogwarts – while a Professor Snape look-alike was spotted, with the distinctive nose and severe black hairstyle, along with a touch of kohl around the eyes. Black picnic tables were set up at the entrance of the store to mimic the Hogwarts Great Hall, while gold and black balloons were on the floor. There was even one foil balloon in the shape of the Snitch – the winged ball used in the wizarding sport of Quidditch. Co-written by Rowling, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is set 19 years after the conclusion of the final novel in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It features a grown-up Harry, struggling to balance his life as a father of three and an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic.

New shows to stream Chief of War (Apple TV+) Jason Momoa fronts Apple's latest period epic, based on the true story of a Hawaiian warrior as he tries to unify the islands before western colonisation in the late 18th century. Washington Black (Disney+) Based on the 2018 bestseller of the same name by Canadian novelist Esi Edugyan, Washington Black follows a young slave, Wash, who is forced to flee a sugar plantation in Barbados, thrusting him into a globe-spanning adventure. As he navigates uncharted lands in search of freedom, Wash finds the courage to imagine a future beyond the confines of society. Ernest Kingsley Jr plays the titular character, while Iola Evans plays Tanna Goff, a biracial woman Wash's love interest. Acclaimed actor Sterling K Brown, who is one of the producers, also stars. One Night in Idaho: The College Murders (Prime Video) Last week, Bryan Kohberger was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of four University of Idaho students in 2022. Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were stabbed to death at an off-campus house in the still of the night. Their housemates, Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, were unharmed. The series centres on the families and friends of the victims, featuring exclusive interviews with Stacey and Jim Chapin (parents of Ethan Chapin) and Karen and Scott Laramie (parents of Madison Mogen). Leanne (Netflix) American comedian Leanne Morgan's stand-up special, I'm Every Woman, was a huge success for Netflix in 2023. Now at 58, she's turning that newfound fame into the premise of a sitcom. In Leanne, Morgan plays a grandmother who is forced to start over with the help of her unfiltered family when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Written by Morgan, the show explores how opening oneself up to new things later in life, from relationships to careers, is a feat of real courage. New music to stream Renee Rapp's Bite Me Two years after her debut album, Snow Angel, Mean Girls actress and singer Rapp is back with Bite Me, a 12-track offering that Rolling Stone has called 'one of the year's most exciting pop albums'. Rapp is known for her no-holds-barred personality, and Bite Me is meant to reflect this persona. With three singles already released – Leave Me Alone, Mad and Why Is She Still Here? – Rapp has described her sophomore project as 'deeply personal and emotionally messy'. 'It's a raw, unfiltered and vulnerable album about self-acceptance in its truest form,' reads a note on her website.
