David Posnack Jewish Community Center Presents 'Uncomfortable Conversations' at Barry University: A Thought-Provoking Discussion on Confronting Division and Stereotypes
MIAMI, FL / ACCESS Newswire / January 27, 2025 / The David Posnack Jewish Community Center in Davie is hosting 'Uncomfortable Conversations' with Noa Tishby and Emmanuel Acho on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 7:30 PM at the Shepard & Ruth K. Broad Performing Arts Center on the campus of Barry University.
This powerful event features Emmanuel Acho, New York Times Bestselling Author, Emmy Award Winner, Host of Uncomfortable Conversations with Emmanuel Acho and FOX Sports Analyst, and Noa Tishby, 2x New York Times Bestselling Author and Israel's former Special Envoy for Combatting Antisemitism and Delegitimization.
Together, they will engage in a meaningful dialogue about fostering understanding, challenging stereotypes, and promoting courage in the face of division. Their conversation will also explore the complexities of Jewish identity and the importance of mutual allyship between minority communities, as discussed in their co-authored book, Uncomfortable Conversations with a Jew, which recently won the Education and Jewish Identity Award at the Jewish Book Council's 74th National Jewish Book Award Ceremony.

Nixing visas is a wise US response to Bob Vylan's naked Jew-hate
Kudos to the State Department for revoking the visas for British punk-rappers Bob Vylan: Our country doesn't need to let naked antisemites in for a tour. The pair led the Glastonbury Musical Festival crowd in chants of raw hate, including 'From the river to the sea, Palestine must be, will be, inshallah, it will be free,' and 'Death, death to the IDF.' The first is a demand to expel or kill all the Jews of Israel; the latter, transparently, is an outright call for the slaughter of the Jewish state's defenders. With tens of thousands joining in from the audience, it was a truly Hitler-worthy spectacle. But also ample reason for the feds to nix the duo's visas for a coming tour: No foreigner has a right to visit this nation and make big money for promoting hate and terrorism. Bob Vylan also faces backlash back home: Prime Minster Keir Starmer and a host of other pols have denounced them; the BBC is squirming over having broadcast the performance and the United Talent Agency says it will stop repping the band. They also face a police investigation, but the UK's efforts to police speech are a mess full of double- and triple-standards. To be clear: US citizens have the right to blare hate speech as vile as Bob Vylan's, but the First Amendment doesn't mean we need to let Nazis come visit. Some words like SLIDE and TRAIN and even FUNHOUSE were pretty easy to find. I had more trouble with CAROUSEL. I kept seeing ORACLE and couldn't shake it for the longest time. I also found PARK and new it had to be something like THEMEPARK but didn't find AMUSEMENTPARK until I'd gotten most of the words. SCRAMBLER was last. I'm not a huge roller-coaster guy, I must admit.
