Saltburn star transforms into Frankenstein's monster

Telegraph28-07-2025
Jacob Elordi's performance as a dashing English aristocrat in 2023's Saltburn that cemented his place as a Hollywood heartthrob.
But now the Australian actor has shunned typecasting to transform himself into Frankenstein's monster for a new adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic horror novel.
The first picture of Elordi, 28, in director Guillermo del Toro 's Frankenstein shows him pale-faced and scarred beneath a mask and hood, while the monster's roar and gravelly voice featured in a trailer released last month.
Elordi, who also found prominence in the American drama series Euphoria, said he took inspiration from Boris Karloff's original portrayal of the monster in the 1930s.
He told Vanity Fair: 'I devoured all of his monsters. At first I thought, I'll stay away from this. I want to do my own thing. And then I asked Guillermo, 'Should I watch the other Frankensteins?' And he goes, 'What the f--- do you mean?' I was like, 'Well, I don't want it to be influenced.'
'He says, 'My friend, it's a movie, it can't f---ing hurt you.' I went home, and I just binged them.
'Something in his gaze, something in the way that he moves…. The biggest thing was just immersing myself in the world of these creatures.'
Shelley's 1818 novel Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus, tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist, who creates the monster in a scientific experiment that involves putting it together with different body parts.
Frankenstein's monster has since appeared in more than 300 feature films.
Notable portrayals have included Karloff's bolt-necked monster in Frankenstein (1931), Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and Son of Frankenstein (1939), and Robert De Niro's take on the character in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994).
In del Toro's adaptation, which is set for a November release, Victor is played by Oscar Isaac while Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Charles Dance feature in supporting roles.
Andrew Garfield, the Oscar-nominated English actor, was originally cast as the monster but was forced to drop out because of scheduling problems.
Elordi, whose 6ft 5in frame is closer to the 8ft monster described by Shelley than Garfield's 5ft 10in, was quickly recruited.
Del Toro said: 'Andrew Garfield stepping out and Jacob coming in. I mean, it was like Jacob is the most perfect actor for the creature, and we have a supernaturally good connection. It's like, very few words. Very few things I have to say, and he does it.'
Mike Hill, the film's make-up artist, added: 'What attracted me to him was his gangliness and his wrists. It was this looseness.
'Then he has these real sombre moments where he watches you really deftly, and his eyelids are low, with the long lashes like Karloff. I was like, 'I don't know who else you could get with a physicality like this'.
'His demeanour is innocent, but it's encompassed in a 6ft 5in frame. He could really do a lot of damage if this man really wanted to be a bad guy.'
Elordi earned a Bafta best supporting actor nomination after starring as Felix Catton in Emerald Fennell's Saltburn.
He also portrayed Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola's biographical drama Priscilla and played the lead role in a miniseries adaptation of the novel The Narrow Road to the Deep North.

Robbie Williams 'splashes out on £30MILLION waterfront mansion in Miami which boasts seven bedrooms, an 18-car garage, wine cellar and its own dock'

Robbie Williams has reportedly splashed out on a new £30 million waterfront mansion in Miami. The singer, 51, and his wife Ayda Field will soon be moving into the sprawling US property, according to The New York Post. The lavish home boasts seven bedrooms, an 18-car garage, wine cellar and its own dock directly onto the water. In addition to the £30 million price tag he reportedly spent another £4 million on furniture, adjustments and building renovations to make it the perfect family home. It comes after last May he sold his LA mansion for £51.6 million ($65M) - making a handsome £12.3million in just over two years. He hired Miami property developer Manny Angelo Varas to extend and perfect the home. He told the publication: 'We're doing a ground-up build. He'll be relocating immediately to the existing home, and we're going to be doing new construction, adding between 2,500 and 3,500 square feet. 'We're creating functional spaces that could be used as a recording studio and multiple different functions. 'So he's able to work from home when he's not on tour.' There are also reportedly plans for a floating padel court, which would be the first of its kind for a US home. Robbie bought his new home from Real Housewives of Miami star Dr Nicole Martin and husband Anthony Lopez. Robbie sold his LA home last year. The sale meant the British singer looked to be cutting ties with Hollywood for good after owning a place there for 18 years. He purchased the huge property, which sits on 1.95 acres, in uber-rich Holmby Hills for £39.3million in March 2022. The three-house estate featured eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, pool and tennis court, plus an impressive garage that holds 15 luxury cars, all spanning over 18,900 sq ft. Dubbed the 'Funny Girl' Estate, the property was originally constructed in 1938 for the renowned comedian Fanny Brice. She was famously played by Barbara Streisand in a Broadway musical based on her life The starlet, whose life is the subject of semi-biographical musical Funny Girl, lived at the Faring Estate until she died in 1951. Robbie has now sold four properties in the last two years, with his only other remaining asset being his £17.5million Kensington, London home. According to documents, the new owner is Lapro Property Trust, which is a Sydney-based entity associated with Aussie billionaire Nick Molnar, who co-founded Afterpay. Molnar previously purchased Matthew Perry's Century City penthouse for £16.6M in 2021 - and sold it to Rihanna two years later. Robbie seems in a big hurry to get rid of his properties. In 2022 he even revealed he had nowhere to live after selling his home in Wiltshire and his previous Los Angeles property. He sold a ten bedroom, twenty-two bathroom LA mansion to Drake in a private $35-$50 million deal for the ten bedroom, twenty-two bathroom mansion. The 2022 sale came two months after Robbie found a buyer for his Wiltshire home in a deal worth £6.75million. Speaking to Australian radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson, Robbie said at the time: 'We're actually nowhere.' 'We haven't got an abode right now, we've pretty much sold everywhere, we don't live anywhere and we're trying to figure it out.' Robbie and his wife Ayda, 46, share four children, Teddy, 11, son Charlie, nine, daughter Coco, five and three-year-old son Beau. Robbie previously said that his kids are a massive factor in deciding where to live because they need to be placed in suitable schools. He explained: 'The four kids are constantly a Rubix Cube puzzle that we're trying to sort out because if they are schooled then they don't see me because I'm all over the place and if they are home-schooled then they have another set of things that are a problem.' Speaking in 2014, Robbie - then a father of two - admitted he was keen to make the United Kingdom his permanent base after spending an extended period of time in the United States. He told The Sun: 'I love LA. The people and the weather are great but it's not England. It can't offer the same. Things change when you're a dad - there are people to look after who are more important than yourself. 'I want [daughter] Teddy and the new baby, whatever it may be, to be educated in England. Teddy is already surrounded by English people so she's bound to have an accent anyway. 'But that's not the point - we want to educate her in London. We've just bought a ruddy big house so we had better be coming back!'

Home and Away star ties the knot with professional netballer in star-studded ceremony: 'You can hear the love in the room'

Home and Away star Lukas Radovich, 30, has wed his long-time boyfriend, professional netballer Liam Forcadilla. The happy couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Sydney on Friday, in front of a guest list that included Summer Bay favourites Emily Weir and Shane Withington. Also in attendance at the swanky do at The Grounds of Alexandria were former Home and Away stars Courtney Miller and Sophie Dillman. And on Tuesday, the pair shared a romantic video featuring their first dance as a wedded couple. The pair can be seen showered with silver confetti while holding each other close and kissing as they slow dance to Taylor Swift 's hit tune Lover. 'You can hear the love in the room,' the couple captioned the joint share on Instagram. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Liam Forcadilla (@liamforcadilla) The pair, who hard-launched their relationship in 2023 after dating for three years, sported elegant suits for their nuptials. Lukas opted for a smart double-breasted jacket and a cream tuxedo shirt, which he topped off with a white carnation and classic black bow tie. Liam, meanwhile, selected a white jacket, which he paired with a matching studded shirt and a black bow tie. Both gents completed their outfits with black trousers and matching dress shoes. Also in attendance was Australian actress Ebony Nave. 'Lukas and Liam got married and everyone cried!' she shared on her Instagram. Lukas first discussed his sexuality back in 2023. The actor, who is openly gay, played the character of Ryder on Home and Away from 2017 to 2022, confessed in an interview that he had never discussed his private life while appearing in the Channel Seven soap. The actor told The Daily Telegraph he never tried to hide his sexuality from the public, but was simply 'coming to terms' with it. 'I definitely think when I was in my young twenties, I was still discovering myself and that now I feel comfortable enough to be able to talk about it,' he said. 'The last five years have been quite a big journey for me; one, because of the show, but also too coming into my own sense of self, just being comfortable I guess.' Lukas came out to his friends and family before he began his role. 'I am quite a shy person by nature, quite introverted, so it takes a while for me to warm up to talking about things. And then after that it just wasn't an issue,' he added.

Mother-of-four Bec Judd makes a shocking confession about her twin boys

Bec Judd has made a shocking confession about her twin boys. The AFL WAG shares four children – Oscar, 13, Billie, 10, and twins Darcy and Tom, eight – with her husband Chris Judd. Speaking to her Vain-ish podcast co-host Jessie Roberts, Bec's admission came as she recalled the moment she discovered she was expecting twins eight years ago. 'I don't know about you, but if the husband comes or the partner comes to the first scan, then you see the heartbeat. And then after that I always just go to the scans by myself,' Bec said. 'So I'm in there with Chris, and he [the doctor] scans me and he has a good old look around and he goes, "nah, it's only one baby." I'm like: "phew, because this one feels different."' Bec added she received quite a shock when she went in for a subsequent scan without Chris by her side. 'I went back for a routine scan without my husband four weeks later and I'm looking at the screen as he's doing the scan and there's this, like, blob up in the corner,' she explained. 'I said, "what's that blob up there, Len" and as he zoomed in the blob miraculously turned into a baby and it moved and it waved like: "Hi b***h."' 'I'm going to make your life a living hell,' Jessie said and Bec agreed. 'And it's been a living hell ever since,' she added, quickly qualifying her shock statement with, 'No, just kidding. I'm kidding.' It comes after Bec made another eyebrow-raising motherhood confession last month. Speaking again on her Vain-ish podcast, Bec's revelation is likely to leave her youngest, Darcy and Tom, scratching their heads. 'I just think four kids is a lot. Anything over two, I think, is too many,' she said. Jess, who has three children, agreed, adding: 'You know what? It's a lot of chaos. And just to spread yourself between the four of them. I don't know how you do it. I struggle with three.' Speaking to her Vain-ish podcast co-host Jessie Roberts, Bec's admission came as she recalled the moment she discovered she was expecting twins eight years ago Bec then gave an insight into her hectic lifestyle, admitting that it is a big challenge wrangling four children. 'It's like, we will be in the car and I'll be screaming at one of them, I'm threatening one to walk home. 'One's always injured or has some medical issue, or the school's calling about something,' she said. 'There's always something popping off.' It seems that the in-car yelling has rubbed off on her kids, with Bec admitting her children agree with her assessment. 'The kids in the car, when I'm screaming at them, just say: "Mum, when we grow up, we don't think we're going to have four kids – it's too many,"' she laughed. 'I would not trade any of my kids in, but man, I would not recommend four!' Bec has never been one to shy away from sharing the minutiae of motherhood with her 725,000 Instagram followers - both good and bad. Back in January, Bec took to her Instagram Stories to call out her two youngest children for causing havoc in the family's $7.3 million mansion in the Melbourne seaside suburb of Brighton. 'The last day of this bulls***,' Bec captioned a photo of Tom and Darcy's shared bedroom in a state of squalor. It came just a week after Bec said she was 'sick' of her twins still behaving like toddlers. 'I popped my head in to see what we're dealing with today,' Bec said in the video, which showed dirty and clean clothes, books, and toys strewn all over the twins' bedroom. All of the drawers in a large clothing chest had been pulled out, with clothes half pulled out of them and also thrown across the floor. 'How did we create these humans?' she asked her husband in the video's caption, tagging him. 'I'm packing up some s*** and found this,' Bec explained, as she zoomed in on a pile of glittery goop, which contained her sewing scissors and a stapler. 'What the f***, boys,' she vented about the slime. 'I say to them every day, "You are eight and a half, you are not toddlers anymore."'
