Prince Faisal leads Saudi delegation attending BRICS Summit in Brazil
RIO DE JENEIRO — On behalf of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan is leading Saudi Arabia's delegation in the 17th BRICS Summit 2025, which began in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday. Saudi Arabia is participating in the summit as an invited country to join the BRICS group.
Prince Faisal is attending the second day of the summit on Monday. The summit is being attended by partner countries and guest countries invited by the presidency, as well as international organizations. The discussions focus on global development efforts, including climate issues and the fight against pandemics and diseases.
As the Chair of BRICS, Brazil is focusing on the theme, 'Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance'. Initially comprised of Brazil, the Russian Federation, India, China, and South Africa, the recently expanded alliance now also includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The BRICS countries convene for a BRICS Leaders' Summit annually. Discussions also focus on spheres of political and socioeconomic coordination, in which member countries have identified business opportunities, economic complementarities, and areas of cooperation.

Commercial registrations for holiday homes and chalets jump 42% in 2Q 2025
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Ministry of Commerce recorded a significant increase in the number of commercial registrations related to the hospitality sector during the second quarter of 2025. According to the ministry's report, the number of commercial registrations for holiday homes and chalets jumped by 42 percent, reaching 8,617 by the end of the second quarter of this year, compared to 6,063 during the same period last year. This reflects the rising demand for tourism accommodation services and the expansion of investment in this vital sector. The Riyadh region topped with 3,216 in the list of regions with the most registrations, followed by Makkah with 3,047, the Eastern Province with 721, Madinah with 515, and it was followed by Asir. Hospitality unit reservation activity also recorded a 32 percent increase in the number of commercial registrations, with 5,099 registrations recorded during the second quarter of 2025, compared to 3,850 during the same period in 2024. The Makkah region topped with 2,027 registrations, followed by Riyadh with 1,939, Madinah with 410, the Eastern Province with 374, and Al-Qassim Region with 81. This rapid growth in hospitality and tourism-related activities reflects the growing demand for domestic tourism, along with efforts to enhance the investment environment and facilitate regulatory procedures, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to develop the tourism sector and increase its contribution to the GDP. The Ministry of Commerce announced the issuance of more than 80,000 commercial registrations in the second quarter of this year, bringing the total number to more than 1.7 million commercial records in all regions of the Kingdom.

Alkhorayef emphasizes Saudi keenness on leveraging Russia's industrial expertise
Saudi Gazette report MOSCOW — Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef met with Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov in Moscow. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities to advance cooperation in industrial development, manufacturing localization, and mining-sector partnerships. Alkhorayef emphasized the Kingdom's interest in leveraging Russia's industrial expertise, particularly in heavy equipment, agricultural machinery, chemicals, automotive, manufacturing, and advanced materials — sectors that complement Saudi Arabia's National Industrial Strategy. They also explored building effective investment partnerships to take advantage of available opportunities in knowledge and technology transfer, innovation, and industrial research. They reviewed the most prominent quality investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia's promising industrial sectors and the enablers provided to facilitate investors' journeys. During the meeting, Alkhorayef was accompanied by Saudi Ambassador to the Russian Federation Abdulrahman Al-Ahmad, National Industrial Development Center (NIDC) Chief Executive Saleh Al-Solami, Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) Chief Executive Majed Al-Argoubi, and Saudi Export Development Authority Chief Executive Eng. Both sides emphasized their commitment to developing non-oil exports and facilitating their access between the two countries, aiming to contribute to the growth of trade and achieve economic diversification in both Saudi Arabia and Russia. INNOPROMi s an international industrial exhibition that brings together manufacturers and buyers from around the world. The Saudi pavilion offers a comprehensive program of activities highlighting the Kingdom's industrial capabilities, special economic zones, and investment ecosystem. Key presentations will cover advanced infrastructure, financial enablers provided by the Saudi Industrial Development Fund and Saudi EXIM Bank, and initiatives driven by the National Industrial Strategy. Saudi Arabia continues its international leadership in cybersecurity, maintaining the first position in global ranking released by the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook's cybersecurity indicator for 2025. It aims to enhance the Kingdom's cybersecurity posture to safeguard its vital interests, national security, critical infrastructure, priority sectors, and government services and activities.
