Joao Pedro's transfer preference revealed as Chelsea & Newcastle battle for £60m-rated Brighton ace
Chelsea and Newcastle United are battling for the signature of Brighton & Hove Albion ace Joao Pedro.
The Blues recently have had a bid rejected for the 23-year-old, with Brighton holding out for a fee in excess of £60m.

But in a transfer boost for Chelsea, Pedro is leaning towards a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, per The Guardian.
Enzo Maresca's side see the Brazilian as a replacement for Christopher Nkunku, who is expected to leave the club this summer.
Pedro has been a key player for the Seagulls since joining the club from Watford in a then club-record £30 million deal.
He has made 70 appearances across all competitions, bagging 30 goals and 10 assists in the process.
The Brazil international has three years left on his contract at the Amex Stadium, but it seems Brighton are ready to cash in on the player this summer.

Chelsea saw their opening bid rejected but they could return with another offer.
Newcastle are also eyeing a move for Pedro amid uncertainty over Callum Wilson's future.
Wilson's contract will expire at the end of this month, and he is yet to agree a new deal with the Magpies.
Eddie Howe's side also have William Osula on their books, but he is currently seen as a support striker to Alexander Isak.

Liverpool are about to complete a VERY significant transfer
Liverpool's transfer business thus far has been significant and everyone should be taking note. One of the most talented right-backs in the world, the Premier League's best left-back last season and one of the brightest attacking young players in the world, have all been brought to Merseyside. Advertisement These are all serious moves that make huge changes to the team's starting XI, rather than bulking up the squad. Remember, this is adding resources to a club that are currently the reigning title holders. But there is reason to suggest that the Reds aren't stopping there and we could see further transfer developments before the window closes in just over two months time. There's a lot of time left. Liverpool have plenty more up their sleeves In an interview with M4 Sport, Dominik Szoboszlai's agent Matyas Esterhazy spoke about his client, how the next season might unfold and what he thinks to the Liverpool's summer transfer business. Advertisement He said: "I haven't thought about Dominik's career for quite some time. He has reached the point where he was a decisive member of the team that won the Premier League. The club is working on very significant developments, they want to be more and more successful..." As such, not only are there no concerns about his client, but he is incredibly positive about where he sees the club going, with his fellow countrymen, Armin Pesci and Milos Kerkez join Szoboszlai.

Star player says YES to Liverpool transfer
But probably the transfer that is of the highest importance is the centre-back position. With Jarell Quansah expected to imminently complete his move to Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool are left really short in that department. That's why it's important to bring in a replacement for Quansah and it looks like Hughes is already nearing a move for an England international. Advertisement Marc Guehi seems to be the club's first priority and now it seems like the Crystal Palace star has helped Liverpool's cause by saying yes to a potential move to Anfield. According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Guehi has 'given his availability' to join Liverpool and sign a contract until 2030. The report goes onto say that Liverpool are now working on reaching an agreement with Crystal Palace. What that agreement will look like remains to be seen. Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool are looking to agree a £40m deal, which would be an absolute bargain. Guehi has been the star of a really exciting Palace team for some time now. He's their club captain and he is also a regular at international level for England. Advertisement Bringing in a player with that kind of experience to replace Quansah's role in the squad is a huge upgrade. Not to mention, Guehi only turns 25-years-old next month - meaning he is extremely young. And on top of that there's the bonus that ex-Chelsea players always tend to do well at Anfield. From Daniel Sturridge to Mohamed Salah, Guehi might be the next one. He definitely seems keen on the move. Now it's just up to Liverpool to strike an agreement.

Tottenham Hotspur Are Eyeing A Move For This Championship Midfielder: Should Spurs Snap Him Up?
Tottenham Hotspur Are Eyeing A Move For This Championship Midfielder: Should Spurs Snap Him Up? In a recent interview with EFL Analysis, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney. Bailey said, 'So yes, I do expect Hackney will go. The likes of Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham, Man United, and West Ham have watched him. Advertisement 'You could even see Burnley coming in for him to replace Josh Brownhill. I wouldn't rule that out necessarily. I think there are a host of options for him that will present themselves over the coming weeks. 'Will he be there to start the season? Possibly. But by the end of the window, I think it'll be a different situation.' Hackney's Impressive Form In The Premier League Hackney enjoyed a good run of form at the English club as he produced a series of impressive performances for them in the middle of the park. The English sensation made 44 appearances for Middlesbrough last season, netting five goals and picking up three assists across various competitions. Advertisement The 23-year-old deserves some credit for 1.90 shots per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. He kept 30% of his shots on target. Hackney even distributed the ball accurately from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 83.7% in the English second tier (stats via SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND – FEBRUARY 12: Hayden Hackney of Middlesbrough reacts during the Sky Bet Championship match between Sheffield United FC and Middlesbrough FC at Bramall Lane on February 12, 2025 in Sheffield, England. (Photo by) Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Snap Hackney Up? Hackney is an energetic runner with the ball and can create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team in the final third. Advertisement The English sensation is primarily a holding midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if needed. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League. We can expect him to bring more quality to Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank's midfield. He has what it takes to compete for a regular starting place at the North London club next season. At 23, the future looks quite promising for Hackney. Therefore, Spurs would be wise to go all out to snap him up in this summer transfer window.
