National seminar begins at GGU charts roadmap
Rajamahendravaram: A two-day National Seminar on 'Leveraging Research and Innovation for Viksit Bharat@2047' began at the Godavari Global University (GGU), with participation from scientists, academicians, industry leaders, and students from across India. The event, held in collaboration with the Central and State governments, aims at aligning India's education and innovation ecosystem with the national vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Member of NITI Aayog Padma Bhushan Dr VK Saraswat inaugurated the seminar and delivered the keynote address. He called for collective efforts from educational institutions and entrepreneurs to advance the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.
Dr Saraswat explained major government initiatives such as PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Startup India, Atal Innovation Mission, and the National Innovation and Startup Policy, all geared toward empowering youth and promoting innovation. GGU Chancellor KVV Satyanarayana Raju expressed optimism about India's developmental trajectory, while Pro-Chancellor K Sasi Kiran Varma described Atmanirbhar Bharat as the mission and Viksit Bharat as the ultimate vision.
AICTE Vice-Chairman Dr Abhay Jere stressed the need for strong research ecosystems in higher education institutions. AMTZ CEO Dr Jitendra Kumar Sharma underscored the importance of observation and curiosity in driving innovation.
The seminar features sessions on emerging technologies, sustainability, and the commercialisation of research. It will conclude tomorrow with thematic discussions on achieving the Viksit Bharat vision.

Indian economy remains a key driver of global growth amidst global challenges: RBI report
New Delhi [India], June 30 (ANI): Despite an uncertain and challenging global economic backdrop, the Indian economy remains a key driver of global growth -- underpinned by sound macroeconomic fundamentals and prudent macroeconomic policies, RBI said in its latest Financial Stability Report. Elevated economic and trade policy uncertainties are testing the resilience of the global economy and the financial system. 'Financial markets remain volatile, especially core government bond markets, driven by shifting policy and geopolitical environment. Alongside, existing vulnerabilities such as soaring public debt levels and elevated asset valuations have the potential to amplify fresh shocks,' the highlights of the RBI report read. The domestic financial system, according to the RBI, is exhibiting resilience fortified by healthy balance sheets of banks and non-banks. Financial conditions have eased, supported by accommodative monetary policy and low volatility in financial markets. The strength of the corporate balance sheets also lends support to overall macroeconomic stability, the RBI noted. 'The soundness and resilience of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) are bolstered by robust capital buffers, multi-decadal low non-performing loans ratio and strong earnings,' RBI said in its report. In the banking sector, results of macro stress tests affirm that most SCBs have adequate capital buffers relative to the regulatory minimum even under adverse stress scenarios. 'Stress tests also validate the resilience of mutual funds and clearing corporations,' it supplemented. Non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) remain healthy with sizable capital buffers, robust earnings and improving asset quality. As was widely expected, the Indian economy grew by 6.5 per cent in real terms in the recently concluded financial year 2024-25, official data showed recently. The Reserve Bank of India had projected 6.5 per cent GDP growth for the fiscal year 2024-25. In 2023-24, India's GDP grew by an impressive 9.2 per cent, continuing to be the fastest-growing major economy. According to official data, the economy grew 8.7 per cent and 7.2 percent, respectively, in 2021-22 and 2022-23. To realise the vision of 'Viksit Bharat', a developed nation dream by 2047, India will need to achieve a growth rate of around 8 per cent at constant prices, on average, for about a decade or two, the Economic Survey document for 2024-25 tabled on January 31 asserted. HUL chairman urges India Inc to drive inclusive, eco-friendly growth
India Inc must play a responsible role for "inclusive and environmentally responsible" growth of the country, even as the government is taking steps for that, HUL Chairman Nitin Paranjpe has said. To become a developed nation, India should chart a path that prioritises economic growth alongside environmental sustainability and social progress, he said while addressing the shareholders in the 92nd AGM of the leading FMCG maker. "While the government is taking significant steps, 'India Inc.' must play a crucial role in ensuring this growth is inclusive and environmentally responsible," he said. In his speech titled Building a Winning Business in an Aspiring India', Paranjpe reflected on the evolving business landscape, noting that while India offers immense opportunities, it is equally important to address the challenges that accompany this growth. The world today is characterised by "uncertainty and chaos," however Indian economy is continuing its growth journey. "However, amidst this incomprehensibility, the Indian economy appears poised to continue its path to sustainable and inclusive growth," he said. Paranjpe called period from 2014 to 2024 as the "decade of India's economic resurgence" which aligns with the vision of a Viksit Bharat' (Develope India) by 2047. "Achieving zero poverty, quality education for all, affordable healthcare, meaningful skilled employment, and becoming the world's food basket are ambitious yet achievable milestones in India's journey to becoming an advanced economy," he said. Elaborating India growth journey Paranjpe said several tailwinds will help achieve this, including a strong digital infrastructure, a conducive policy environment, and a burgeoning young population. He called out India's Digital Public Infrastructure as one of its greatest future advantages, and hailed the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) for levelling the playing field for kirana walas and retailers across the nation. At the same time, he mentioned that getting sellers and resellers to leverage e-commerce and improve India's e-retail penetration is a tall order. Hinting towards growing premiuimisation, Paranjpe said the Indian consumer is evolving, seeking newer products, better experiences, and aspiring for more. "As a business serving the needs of an ever-aspiring consumer and partner to a nation focused on its growth, we bear significant responsibility. The new India presents several opportunities that we can leverage to leapfrog into the future," he said. Pranjape also added, HUL like other makers is witnessing 'unprecedented' technological advancements, where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is taking over everything from searches to product design to farming, bio-mimetic inspired design, driverless vehicles and Mars missions to science utilising bugs for cleaning homes. "Technology is, and will continue to be, a primary driver shaping our future," he said, adding HUL is "building capabilities to cater to the needs of an evolving and aspiring India". Uttarakhand CM Dhami participates in Space Conference 2025 focused on role of Himalayan states
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 30 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday participated in the Space Technology and Applications Conference 2025. The event focused on the role of Himalayan states in building a Developed India by 2047. ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan was present as the Chief Guest. Welcoming scientists and participants from across the country, the Chief Minister said that this conference will be a milestone in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047. The Chief Minister emphasised that space technology is no longer limited to research alone but plays a significant role in communication, agriculture, weather forecasting, disaster management, education, health, and infrastructure development. He congratulated ISRO and all scientists on the proud moment of Indian scientist Shubhashu Shukla hoisting the national flag at the International Space Station, calling it a matter of immense national pride. He added that Shukla's contribution will lay a solid foundation for future space missions, including Gaganyaan. On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated a dashboard developed by ISRO and UCOST to make Champawat a model district, and also unveiled a publication by ISRO. He reiterated the state government's strong commitment to promoting science and technological innovation, mentioning that significant progress is being made in establishing Science City, Innovation Centres, and cutting-edge laboratories in areas such as AI, robotics, and drones. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this conference would play a key role in making Uttarakhand a 'space-technology friendly state', contributing to its sustainable development. ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan highlighted that India launched its first rocket in 1963. Since then, India has launched over 100 rockets. Until 1975, India had no satellites of its own; however, it now possesses 131 satellites. Satellites play a vital role in sectors such as television broadcasting and communication. He said ISRO is currently working on a human space program and a rocket capable of launching payloads of up to 75,000 kg into low Earth orbit, which is expected to be completed in around 27 days. He recounted how Indian rockets were once transported on bicycles, but today India holds multiple world records. India was the first country to detect the presence of water molecules on the Moon, the first to land on the Moon's South Pole, and the fourth to study the Sun with Aditya-L1. India also succeeded in its first attempt at reaching Mars' orbit, becoming the fourth country to do so. The country aims to establish its own space station by 2030 and send astronauts to the Moon by 2040. He affirmed that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India is achieving new milestones and will certainly become a developed India by 2047. Dr. Prakash Chauhan, Director of the National Remote Sensing Centre, stated that satellite data is now an integral part of our daily lives. In Uttarakhand, livestock data has been digitised. During the Rishiganga-Chamoli disaster, satellite-based mapping and data were utilised in national-level policymaking and the Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA). He emphasised how Earth Observation, satellite communication, and navigation have transformed lives. In Uttarakhand, satellite data is being utilised for disaster response, forest conservation, mapping forest fires, monitoring glacier lakes, and predicting cloudbursts and floods. Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan stated that Uttarakhand is focused on adopting space technology and creating permanent scientific infrastructure. He requested that ISRO adopt specific science centres in the state and provide high-resolution satellite imagery, such as Cartosat (50 cm resolution), on a real-time and non-commercial basis. On this occasion, Principal Secretaries R.K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretaries Shailesh Bagauli, Nitesh Jha, UCOST Director General Prof. Durgesh Pant, and several scientists were present. (ANI)
