Ye Compares Forthcoming ‘Bully' Album To ‘The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill'

Yahoo07-02-2025
Ye's forthcoming Bully album is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, and the rapper just raised the stakes by comparing it to one of the greatest musical projects of all-time.
The rapper recently appeared on Justin Laboy's The Download podcast and divulged information regarding his eleventh solo studio album, which he feels is akin to Lauryn Hill's seminal solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
'Yeah, because you lean on a bar that brings somebody down — that was always rap,' Yeezy told Laboy at one point during the conversation.
'This is more the way I remember Lauryn Hill['s] album, the way I remember Miseducation. I feel it is my Miseducation. It is my Gnarls Barkley album. Because Bully has a title and connotation that a lot of people are anti-bully. But I'm just hyper-next-level frequency right now.'
Ye has been a longtime fan of Hill, famously sampling the songstress' MTV Unplugged No. 2.0 cut 'Mystery of Iniquity' on his GRAMMY-nominated 2004 single, 'All Falls Down.' However, he couldn't use the original sample on the official release of the track, as Syleena Johnson appears on The College Dropout album version.
Announced in 2024, Bully is scheduled for release on June 15, which coincides with the rapper's eldest daughter, North's, 12th birthday. The 47-year-old recently opened up about his daughter inspiring him to focus on making music again, due to her own love for the craft.
'This little girl made me love music again,' he wrote in the caption of an Instagram post in January. 'She asked me to make beats for her. I got back on the ASR Chopped up beats for album and chopped every beat with my bare hand for BULLY.'
Ye has teased various songs from the album in recent months, including 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Preacher Man,' as well as new music that surfaced following his headline-grabbing GRAMMY appearance with wife, Bianca Censori.

Tyler, The Creator 'Stop Playing With Me' Video Features Cameos From LeBron James And Clipse

Tyler, The Creator hit the ground running with his new album Don't Tap The Glass. The 34-year-old rapper shared a music video for the track 'Stop Playing With Me' with cameo appearances from LeBron James, Maverick Carter, and Clipse. The visual opens with the Hawthorne, Calif. rapper sporting an all-red outfit and flanked by two speakers while dancing in a room with papers scattered all over the floor. 'When I get to snappin' like doo-wop/ Really got the juice like 2Pac/ Shawty got a strong jaw, might chew rock/ Got me comin' out the blue like new cop,' he raps. Later, he raps about catching a plane with Carter and James as the two appear beside him. After a quick transition, they vanish, and in comes Pusha T and Malice while Tyler raps, 'Thank the gods I'm nothing like you.' The Virginia duo stood calmly, almost as if they were uninterested in the former Odd Future member dancing crazily, each time they were seen in the video. Bron and Mav, however, got some light dance moves off and did their unique handshake in their subsequent appearances. Watch the full video above. 'Stop Playing With Me' is the midway point of Tyler's newest album, Don't Tap The Glass. The 10-track LP has no listed features, though 'Big Poe' features vocals from Pharrell and a sample of Busta Rhymes' chorus on 'Pass The Courvoisier.' Daisy World also appears on 'Don't You Worry Baby.' Glass marks the Grammy winner's ninth studio album, and second in under a year following Chromakopia from October 2024. It is also his second consecutive album to come out on a Monday morning. In promoting the LP, Tyler tweeted 'yall better get them expectations and hopes down this aint no concept nothing' on Sunday (July 20). He also wrote that it was 'made for body movement.' Drake And Sexyy Red Throw Back Shots At 9 A.M. During 'Wealth And Hellness' Retreat

Sexyy Red and Drake have bonded heavily over the last few years, so much so that she can get him to make crazy decisions — like throwing back shots of alcohol at 9 a.m. Clips surfaced online of the duo attending Drizzy's Wealth and Hellness retreat. He shared photos and videos on Instagram showing the St. Louis star and her friends dancing by a bar, internet comedian BenDaDonn, former NFL player Johnny Manziel, and others having a large group dinner under a tent, Chubbs having a drink on a boat, and Zack Bia DJing a function. Red and Drizzy's early morning turn up confirmed his lyrics from 'Signs' in 2017, where he sang, 'You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.' The group showed off their shot glasses and called for a cheers in the first clip, but the 6 God wasn't holding one. In the second clip, he finally retrieved one and said 'I'm about to be f**ked up, man, it's like 9 o'clock.' Nonetheless, he obliged and their festivities continued. Watch below. It takes a special friend to get somebody to start their day with shots, and the Toronto superstar emphasized how close he is to the 'Get It Sexyy' artist this weekend at Wireless Festival in London. She was a surprise guest during his headlining set on day two (Saturday, July 12) and performed 'Get It Sexyy,' 'SkeeYee,' 'Pound Town,' and their collaboration 'Rich Baby Daddy.' At one point, the 'What Did I Miss?' artist called Red one of his best friends and thanked her for constantly checking on him. Despite everyone who seemingly betrayed him last year, Red has consistently and proudly maintained her loyalty. She received the first Drake feature following his beef with Kendrick Lamar, their viral love song 'U My Everything,' in May 2024. He also joined her in the 'Get It Sexyy' music video a few months prior. Watch below. JAY-Z Shuts Down Paternity Claims, Calls Rymir Satterthwaite's Allegations 'Fabricated'

In newly filed court documents obtained by Us Weekly, JAY-Z is asking a federal judge to step in and shut down a lawsuit filed by 31-year-old Rymir Satterthwaite, who continues to allege that the Hip-Hop mogul is his biological father. Satterthwaite, who filed the latest complaint in May, accuses Jay of knowingly avoiding a paternity test and using his celebrity status to silence him. The lawsuit also alleges fraud, manipulation of the legal system, and a pattern of intimidation — claims JAY-Z's legal team flatly denies. In response, the Roc Nation founder — born Shawn Carter — called the lawsuit the latest chapter in what he describes as a 'decades-long harassment campaign' carried out by Satterthwaite. His lawyers noted that similar allegations have already been 'addressed and rejected' by multiple courts and that continued efforts to push the narrative have resulted in contempt orders. JAY-Z also told the court he only learned of the latest filing on June 3 and requested additional time to formally respond. His legal team claims an attempt to contact Satterthwaite's guardian to coordinate was met with hostility, stating that the phone call ended with her hanging up. Satterthwaite's lawsuit outlines claims that his late mother, Wanda Satterthwaite, had a relationship with JAY-Z in the 1990s. He says the rapper has gone to great lengths to avoid acknowledging his alleged paternity, including allegedly refusing DNA testing and pressuring the courts. Satterthwaite claims the years-long legal battle has caused him emotional distress, public embarrassment, and even health complications. The Philly native also alleges a violent threat against him in the form of a car shooting — an incident he believes was a message intended to silence him. Despite the serious nature of his allegations, he says he's not seeking back child support but rather damages for the toll the situation has taken on his life. The 55-year-old icon has remained largely silent on the matter over the years, though his legal team maintains there is no truth to Satterthwaite's claims. The judge has not yet ruled on the latest filing. More from Who Is Rymir Satterthwaite?
