
Post-mortem underway for family of six found in sunken car
Kubang Pasu police chief Superintendent Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahim said all six victims — a married couple and their four children — were found inside a Proton Iswara submerged along the Sungai Kubang Sepat–Simpang Tiga Kemboja trunk road around 9am today.
The deceased were identified as Mohamad Azim Izat Ishak, 32; his wife, Nurul Hidayah Khadijah Razman Efendi, 31; and their children, Putra Rayyan Nur, 9; Hawa Adriana Nur, 8; Annayla Humaira Nur, 7; and six-month-old Tuah Haydar.
"The family was reported missing on Saturday by relatives after they failed to return home to Jerlun. They were last seen leaving a relative's house in Taman Aman, Jitra," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Earlier, the New Straits Times reported that all six were found drowned and huddled together in the back of the vehicle.

Sungai Korok has claimed 10 lives since 2012
KOTA BARU: The Fire and Rescue Department has recorded 13 incidents of vehicles plunging into Sungai Korok, Jitra in Kedah since 2012. Its director-general Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad said the 13 incidents resulting in 10 deaths, including five children. He said the most recent case which occurred on July 7, involving the couple and their four children who tragically lost their lives was the 10th fatality since 2012. "The July 7 incident brought the total number of fatalities to 10, while 16 other victims survived in previous cases," he said. He said the 13 recorded cases involved various types of vehicles, including Proton Saga, Perodua Myvi and Perodua Viva models. Nor Hisham said the department viewed such incidents seriously and urged motorists to exercise extra caution, especially when driving near riverbanks or in flood-prone areas. He then advised that all vehicles be equipped with emergency tools such as a spring-loaded glass breaker and a seatbelt cutter. "These tools should be mounted within easy reach, such as on the driver's door or sun visor. "If stored in the glove box or boot, they may be unreachable in an emergency," he added. Woman killed after being hit by Hilux in Keningau
