80s classic rock legends Styx recently put on an epic light show while playing with Don Felder of The Eagles at their concert in Greenwood Village, Colorado on June 9.
The band, which was formed in Chicago in 1972, stopped off in Greenwood Village on their 2025 North American Tour, where they played at the city's Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. The tour is called 'The Brotherhood of Rock Tour,' which includes the band, Felder, and guitarist Kevin Cronin, who was part of REO Speedwagon.
Recently, singer-guitarist Tommy Shawopened up about writing the band's 18th studio album, Circling From Above, which drops on July 18.
"You're writing about your experiences in your life and things that you love and enjoy, or things that were hard to go through and that sort of thing,' he explained in an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock published last month. 'So you're just really just writing a book in little sections like that.'
The musician, 71, also explained that their label was a little wary of the album, considering it focuses on an aviary concept. Yep, you read that right: it's about birds. "But he says, 'Oh, we're birders!'" Shaw told UCR of the Styx concept album in a previous interview. "It was kind of risky to say this thing's gonna be about a bird. But there was so much enthusiasm and it's like, you know, sometimes in life things just go your way—and this went our way."
The band's original lineup boasted Dennis DeYoung on vocals and keyboards, James 'JY' Young on guitar and vocals, John Curulewski on guitar and vocals, Chuck Panozzo on bass, and John Panozzo on drums.
The current lineup consists of Young, Shaw, and Panozzo on bass, as well as Lawrence Gowan on vocals and keyboards, Todd Sucherman on drums, and Ricky Phillips on bass and guitar.

Hundreds turn up for July 4th parades in Melbourne, Merritt Island

MELBOURNE — Hundreds of people turned out Friday for Fourth of July parades in Brevard County, with holiday revelers lining up on New Haven Avenue in Melbourne to cheer the patriotic procession. Elsewhere in the county, hundreds more congregated on Courtenay Parkway in Merritt Island waving flags and dressed in red, white and blue as Brevard County Sheriff's Office deputies honored Vietnam War veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Melvin Morris. Morris was shot three times in 1969 after rescuing a fallen comrade near Chi Lang in Vietnam. In the process, he single-handedly destroyed an enemy force that had pinned down his battalion, the U.S. Army said. More: Does Disney World do special fireworks for Fourth of July? See events at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT More: Will rain damper Fourth of July plans in Brevard? We'll let you know the forecast It wasn't until 2014, after he'd retired to Cocoa, that Morris received the Medal of Honor for his heroism overseas. He served as the grand marshal of Friday's Merritt Island parade. Merritt Island's parade was organized by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office while Melbourne's event was sponsored by the Space Coast Young Republicans. The daytime parades preceded multiple fireworks shows and other events scheduled for the evening around the county. Those such as the "Symphony Under the Stars" and fireworks show in Cocoa Village and the Drone Light Show Spectacular in Cocoa Beach were expected to draw large crowds. Jacqueline and Peter McCullough of Palm Bay brought their two children out to watch the Melbourne parade as it made its way down New Haven Avenue. They waved and cheered as a train of jeeps blasting patriotic tunes lumbered past. Even as the morning sun grew more powerful, the family was unfazed by the heat. 'We're just thankful it didn't rain,' Jacqueline said. 'It's nice to get the day off to celebrate. Growing up, I never missed the Fourth of July, so it's nice to share that with my family now.' For U.S. Army veteran Andrew Farthing, the day was as much about duty as about festivity. 'I will always celebrate America,' Farthing said. 'No matter what's going on in the world, this is our country, and we owe it to ourselves and our children to love her even when that's difficult, or we're not sure how to.' '70s Rock Legends Reflect on What They Hope Fans Never Forget Ahead of Final Concert

'70s Rock Legends Reflect on What They Hope Fans Never Forget Ahead of Final Concert originally appeared on Parade. Ahead of their final performance, this legendary rock group is reflecting on how they want fans to remember them. Black Sabbath, featuring original members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, will take the stage one last time on Saturday, July 5. For the first time in two decades, the group is coming together for a final farewell — and they're getting sentimental about the history they've made. 'You can never know how your life turns out,' guitarist Iommi told Classic Rock. 'It's just believing in what you do and following that path. That's always what I've had, and not given up on it.' When asked how he'd like the band to be remembered, he answered, 'For what we brought to the table. For bringing this music out and inspiring other bands to build on it.' Other members echoed the sentiment, with Ward saying he hoped the band would be remembered for their creativity. 'For showing that it's okay to push things, to be outlandish and extraordinary and rough around the edges. We were loud and aggressive, and that's what I love about us.' Butler added that their legacy lies in their roots, 'As four working-class blokes who defied all the odds, but had an unbreakable belief in ourselves and bonded with the greatest fans ever.' Although the band won't be touring again, the question of recording new music came up — and the answers were hopeful. 'I'd love to do another album. I'll be direct about that,' Ward said. Osbourne agreed, sharing his desire to keep making more music. 'As far as recording goes, I still enjoy doing my own work. I also enjoy singing on other people's work. For the foreseeable future, I will keep on recording — if the projects interest me.' This upcoming performance marks yet another chapter in a long history of farewells. Back in 1992, Osbourne announced his first retirement after being mistakenly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, saying he wanted more time with family. His second farewell came in 1999, when Black Sabbath headlined Ozzfest under the banner 'The Last Supper.' The branding led many to believe it was the end — until the band returned in 2001. In 2016, following a reunion after Osbourne's solo ventures and lommi and Butler's own collaboration, they launched another farewell tour titled The End. And in 2018, Osbourne wasn't quite ready to slow down yet. He announced a solo run, No More Tours II, in support of his album. Unfortunately, due to health issues, the tour was ultimately canceled. 'Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way,' he said at the time. Now, it seems he may finally get the send-off he's been working toward for the past 30 years.
