49ers quietly move on from Brian Griese
Brian Griese is out after three years as the team's quarterbacks coach, working for coach Kyle Shanahan. Mick Lombardi will replace Griese as the primary tutor for quarterback Brock Purdy, who has spent his entire career with Griese as his position coach.
Griese joined the 49ers after a stint in the broadcast booth with Monday Night Football. Before that, Griese called college football games for ESPN.
It remains to be seen whether Griese, who spent 11 years in the NFL as a player, takes another coaching job, or whether he returns to broadcasting.

Jaxson Dart looks more at home in best Giants training camp day yet
Jaxson Dart looked the part. The rookie first-round quarterback had his best day on an NFL field so far Sunday as he was accurate and aggressive down the field — a noticeable change from holding the ball too long when he wasn't getting off short, quick passes. 'I can definitely feel a difference in the first day [last Wednesday] to even today,' Dart said. 'Just that the game's starting to slow down a little bit the more that I get comfortable with the plays and the system.' Dart is adjusting to running first-time plays and mixing in with different receivers — all of whom require different timing. 'I felt confident in the different installs that we had [Sunday], and I felt at the same time the coaches gave me a lot of freedom,' Dart said. 'So I was able to make some checks that I wanted to, and I feel like that just allowed me to play just faster and be able to make quicker decisions.' Dart led a 12-play move-the-field drive that included a third-down completion and a couple of designed quarterback runs. A quote that we go by in the quarterback room is, 'Being aggressive but not reckless.' So, when you have opportunities to put the dagger in, that's what you have to do. And, at the same time, you can't be reckless.' Dart's philosophy during training camp is to get the mistakes out on the practice field and don't make the same error twice. Even five years after his tragic death, Kobe Bryant continues to be arguably the most beloved superstar in Los Angeles Lakers history. He helped lead the franchise to five NBA championships during his 20-year career and ended up scoring more points than any other guard in league history. One reason why Lakers fans fell in love with Bryant is the fact that he played his entire career with the team. Supporters of the Purple and Gold got to see him grow up from an unfiltered teenager into a refined, grown man and an excellent leader. Even as an 18-year-old rookie, people believed in his potential, even though he didn't play a lot that year. The sneakers he wore during the first game he was in L.A.'s starting lineup that season have reportedly been sold for just under a quarter million dollars. Via ESPN: "An autographed pair of Adidas EQT Top 10 shoes that Kobe Bryant wore in his first Los Angeles Lakers start have sold for $240,000 (including buyer's premium) with SCP Auctions, the second-largest sum ever paid for a pair of his sneakers," wrote Dan Hajducky. "Photo-matching company Sports Investors Authentication matched the shoes to 'being worn by Kobe Bryant on January 28, 1997 -- Bryant's first career NBA game as a starter.' Both shoes are signed, and both autographs include letters of authentication from Professional Sports Authenticator's authentication arm, PSA/DNA." That first start for Bryant came during a road game against the Dallas Mavericks, and on that day, he made five of his 11 field-goal attempts and scored 12 points in 32 minutes. Back in February, the sneakers Bryant wore in 2013 when he tore his Achilles went for $660,000 at an auction. In April, a jersey that was photo-matched to the one he wore during his first regular-season game was sold for $7 million.
