‘They will never be forgotten': Mo Salah pays tribute to Diogo Jota and brother Andre
New Delhi: Mohamed Salah took to social media on Friday to send his condolences after his Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva passed away in a car accident on Thursday. The accident took place around 12:30 am local time in the Spanish province of Zamora. According to the Spanish police, Jota's car veered off the road while trying to overtake another vehicle. A tyre blowout caused the car to lose control and catch fire. Sadly, both Jota and his brother died at the scene. "I am truly lost for words. Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me from going back to Liverpool after the break. Teammates come and go, but not like this. It's going to be extremely difficult to accept that Diogo won't be there when we go back. "My thoughts are with his wife, his children, and of course his parents, who suddenly lost their children. Those close to Diogo and his brother, Andre, need all the support they can get. They will never be forgotten," posted Salah on social media. As per a report by ESPN, the funeral will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. local time in the Portuguese town of Gondomar, after the bodies arrived in their hometown on Thursday. The funeral will be held at the Matriz de Gondomar church, located 33 kilometres from Porto. A wake will take place from 4 p.m. local time on Friday. Jota, 28, was a key figure for both Portugal and Liverpool. Since joining the Premier League club in 2020, he has helped them win major trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and two EFL Cups. In his time at Anfield, he scored 65 goals in 182 matches and was widely admired for his work ethic and ability to deliver in crucial moments. For Portugal, Jota earned 49 caps and netted 14 goals. He was part of the squad that lifted the UEFA Nations League title in 2019 and again in 2025, when Portugal defeated Spain in the final. The forward had celebrated that victory with his teammates just weeks ago. Teammate Endo Wataru also took to social media to reiterate the message relayed by the entire world - 'You will never walk alone' "Jots, I still can't believe it. I don't want to believe it. What a great player, what a great person you were. You will be remembered forever. My thoughts are with your wife, kids, and all family and friends. Love you, Jots. Rest in peace, Diogo and Andre. You will never walk alone," posted Endo on social media.

Bronny James breaks silence on Lebron's cryptic post amid transfer rumors
LeBron James may be considering leaving the Los Angeles Lakers at some point in the future and that's all anyone can talk about this NBA offseason. On Sunday, James finalized the final year of his Lakers contract by exercising a player option worth $52.6 million for next season. Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, center, sits on the bench with guard Bronny James(AP) However, it was a statement released by his agent, Rich Paul, that caught the attention of many towards suggesting a potential shift sometime in the near future. "LeBron wants to compete for a championship. He knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all,' the statement read. Son and teammate Bronny James breaks silence Lack of certainty about LeBron's future at the Lakers also led many to question where his son and teammate Bronny James would fall if the shift were to happen. When asked about the same by a bunch of reporters on Wednesday (July 2) following a Summer League practice, he replied, 'I don't really pay attention to that stuff. There's a lot of stuff going around that I don't really pay attention to.' "We don't really talk about that stuff too much," he further added. "When stuff like that does come up, he just tells me not to worry about it, and not even pay attention to it. Just lock into what you've got going on right now, and that's what's going to get me better and keep me focused." Bronny just finished his rookie season playing with the Lakers. Although the vague idea of LeBron considering alternate team options in the future, which could include names like the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, or San Antonio Spurs, there is no guarantee of whether such a change could take place. Any team pining to take up the legend would have to sacrifice a lot in exchange to be able to do so. There is no official clarity on where Bronny's future with the Lakers would stand were his father to leave the team at some point. By Stuti Gupta
