Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, virtual meetings have become part of everyday life, blurring the lines between personal and professional spaces. Attending video calls from bedrooms or multitasking during online meetings is no longer unusual. While audio-only participation may go unnoticed, visuals in video calls often raise questions of decorum — especially in formal settings, such as a courtroom.
In a recent incident that has sparked widespread outrage and disbelief, a man was seen attending virtual proceedings of the Gujarat High Court while seated on a toilet and apparently relieving himself. The moment was captured on camera and the video has since gone viral on social media.

The incident took place on June 20 before the Bench of Justice Nirzar S Desai.
In the viral video, the individual logged into the virtual court session under the name 'Samad Battery" and was seen wearing a Bluetooth earphone around his neck. As the hearing commenced, he initially placed his phone at a distance, which eventually revealed that he was sitting on a toilet. The footage goes on to show him wiping himself before exiting the bathroom. He briefly disappears from view before reappearing in another room.
According to Bar & Bench, the man had joined the proceedings as a respondent in a petition seeking the quashing of a first information report (FIR). Interestingly, he was also the original complainant in the criminal matter. After both parties informed the Court that the dispute had been amicably resolved, the FIR was subsequently quashed.
However, this isn't the first time inappropriate conduct has occurred during virtual court hearings. Back in April, the Gujarat High Court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on a litigant who was caught smoking a cigarette while attending the proceedings via video conferencing.
Such incidents during proceedings has led to calls for clearer guidelines and stricter etiquette around virtual court appearances.

ED alleges cash scam in management quota admissions at 3 Bengaluru colleges
The Enforcement Directorate on Saturday alleged that admission of students through the management quota in three Bengaluru-based private colleges was being done in an "opaque" manner using money, includiang funds in cash. The federal probe agency's statement comes after they conducted searches at 17 locations on June 25-26 in a "seat blocking scam" case. The raids were carried out at the premises of BMS College of Engineering, Akash Institute of Engineering and Technology, and New Horizon College of Engineering, along with those associated with these institutions, the agency said in a statement. A few entities engaged in educational consultancy services and some private agents were also raided. The ED case stems from a Karnataka Police FIR registered by the KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority) against these colleges. The complaint alleged that these colleges colluded with unknown individuals to acquire the login credentials of students registered with the KEA and subsequently blocked seats in their name for students who did not intend to enroll, the ED said. The searches revealed "evidence" of "widespread" seat blocking and the use of cash/money in the admission process for popular professional courses in the private institutes, it said. "There is an extensive network of agents, educational consultancy service entities, which is used to bring students for admission from across India to these institutes," the statement said. The agency further alleged that the admission for management quota seats was mostly done in an opaque manner based on extraneous considerations such as cash or money. During the searches, a total of Rs 1.37 crore in cash was allegedly seized. However, the ED did not specify the source of the recovered funds. The colleges or their promoters could not be contacted for a comment on the ED charges made against them.

The recent altercation began when Manik asked Nasim to settle his pending dues. The incident took place on Monday night at around 9 PM when Nasim visited the shop for urgent work but was asked to wait. After losing his temper, he attacked Manik and also damaged a monitor worth around 15,000 taka (approximately Rs 10,465). Manik was injured and taken to Ghior Upazila Health Complex for treatment. A written complaint has been received, and legal action will follow after the investigation, Ghior Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Kohinoor Mia told Probash Time. In a similar incident, a group of around eight to ten men chased and beat the restaurant employees in the Civil Lines area of Kanpur. Following a complaint from hotel staff, authorities filed a case against eight individuals in the matter. The owner, Nitin Gupta, stated that Aditya Tripathi from Azad Nagar and Piyush Jaiswal from Lal Bangla had arrived to party with eight to ten friends. When they started leaving the restaurant, the waiter asked them to pay the bill. At this point, the men began abusing him. Later, the intoxicated men beat the employees with rods, sticks, and belts.

Unable to repay loan, Gujarat electrician strangles wife, daughter, before killing self
A 32-year-old electrician, who was neck-deep in financial crisis, allegedly strangled his wife and daughter and died by suicide in Gujarat's Tapi district on Thursday night, the police said. Before the incident, the accused had posted a message on social media saying that if he survived, he would repay all those who had helped him. According to Tapi police, the deceased man, Jatin Patel, who belongs to a Scheduled Tribe community, was working under contract at the Valjakhan village office in Dolvan taluka. The other deceased are Sulochanaben, 24, and daughter, Mishwakumari, 7. The police said that Patel had allegedly taken loans from banks, friends, and private individuals. The bodies were first found by Patel's mother Neetaben, who lives in the neighbourhood, the next day, the police said. According to the police, every morning, Mishwakumari gets ready for school and goes to her grandmother, who would drop her off at school. 'On Friday morning, when Mishwakumari did not turn up, Neetaben reached Jatin's house and found Sulochana and Mishwakumari lying dead on the bed, and her son Jatin's body nearby,' said an officer. Neetaben immediately called up village sarpanch, Harish Gamit, who later alerted the Dolvan police. After primary investigations, Dolvan Police Inspector H G Rabari said, 'We have come to know that Jatin had taken loans from multiple banks, and was unable to repay the installments. The motive behind the crime is still not known. He was working as an electrician and had a monthly income of Rs 15,000.'
