On Monday (July 7), the couple tied the knot under the Special Marriage Act in the presence of Higher Education Minister R. Bindu, City Mayor M.K. Varghese and other officials in a moving ceremony.
The Social Justice department organised the event, recognising the couple's heartfelt request to spend the rest of their lives together, official sources said.
'I was honoured to be a witness to this beautiful moment,' said Ms. Bindu, who also holds the Social Justice portfolio in the State government.
Along with Ms. Bindu and Mr. Varghese, the care home's superintendent, local councillors, and other residents celebrated the union like a family would.
'May their days ahead be filled with love and joy,' the Minister said in a Facebook post, offering her heartfelt wishes.

'There have been attempts to create rifts within communities and faiths in the state as well as across the country. It is becoming increasingly difficult for individuals seeking partners beyond the boundaries of caste or religion. This initiative aims to offer support and hope to such individuals,' he said. Shankar Kanse, the state coordinator of the matchmaking centre, and another coordinator Dr Dnyandev Sarvade appealed to prospective brides, grooms and their parents to register at the facility. 'Once registered, suitable matches will be suggested based on mutual preferences, and a verification process will ensure decisions are made with informed consent. Couples are also encouraged to marry under the Special Marriage Act or through Satyashodhak rituals,' said Kanse. The matchmaking centre not only supports inter-caste and interfaith unions, but also welcomes applications from widows and widowers looking to remarry, he added. MANS launches intercaste, interfaith matchmaking service

The unique, free matchmaking service is an expansion of an existing initiative of MANS of running a safe house for intercaste and interfaith marriage couples at Satara. 'The idea of launching an intercaste and interfaith matchmaking service started taking shape around six months ago. Since it is a service of a sensitive nature, we took time to do the groundwork and we are finally launching it today,' said Dr Hamid speaking to The Indian Express. 'As Dr Narendra Dabholkar believed that caste was a major form of superstition, MANS has actively worked on this issue. Our fight and efforts for a legislative framework against caste panchayats, facilitating intercaste and interfaith wedding ceremonies and the initiative of a safe house for interfaith and intercaste marriage couples, are in keeping with his vision,' said Dr Hamid. A press statement from MANS issued in this regard on Tuesday read, 'On the back of the atmosphere of rifts in castes and religions, finding a life partner beyond these boundaries has become extremely difficult for those who genuinely wish to do so. HYDERABAD: Passengers travelling on the Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20704) from Yeshwantpur to Kacheguda on Friday evening reported water leakage from the air-conditioning units. Complaints were raised with the concerned staff, but no action was taken until now. According to a service provider on board, the leakage occurs when the temperature is set too low, with the problem reportedly affecting even the pilot's cabin. Speaking to TNIE, Vijayaraghavan, a retired government employee travelling from Anantapur to Kacheguda in the C13 AC Chair Car, said, 'It is pathetic to see Vande Bharat facing such issues. We have paid more than `1,000 for this journey. The service providers keep moving from one side to the other, but no one is addressing the issue.' When another drop of water fell on his head, he added, 'It is abhishekam'. When TNIE visited the nearby coaches C12, C11, C10, and C9, it observed tissue papers placed at certain leakage points to control dripping water. However, this measure proved ineffective, leaving passengers to travel in discomfort. 'The leakage from AC units happens when the temperature is set too low. This issue has been persisting for a very long time, but no measures have been taken so far, despite repeated complaints to our higher officials. They just fix tissues, not the issue,' said a service provider on board. He explained that the same condition exists in the pilot's cabin, while executive chair car coaches remain unaffected, with zero issues, on Friday evening. Another passenger, speaking to this newspaper, complained about the water dripping issue using the 'At Your Service' complaint number. The officials who answered the call said that an onboard service provider would check the problem, but it was not resolved. 'The train was already delayed by more than an hour, and now water is dripping from above. At first, it happened once every 15 minutes, but as time passed, it began dripping very frequently. Is this what we are paying for?' asked the passenger. When SCR officials were contacted regarding the issue, they responded that it is because of excessive cooling of the condenser, which also depends on the outside temperature. They stated that the issue has been brought to notice, the concerned officials have been sensitised in this regard, and the coach is under observation.
