Perfume fans praise £9 bottle that's 'just as good if not better than Sol de janeiro'

Edinburgh Live12-05-2025

With summer fast-approaching, fragrance fans are on the hunt for the perfect summer scent. And for those undecided on their signature spritz, affordable beauty retailer GiveMeCosmetics has released a body spray bundle containing four mists for £9 each.
Certain brands have earned a reputation for their 'summer in a bottle' sprays, achieving cult status among perfume buffs. Brands like Sol de Janeiro are revered by beauty lovers, but at £38 for 240ml, they're not the most affordable.
By comparison, shoppers can get four GiveMeCosmetics sprays for £36, containing four scents that share similarities to much more expensive options on the market. That means customers get 800ml of fragrance for £2 cheaper than one bottle of Sol de Janeiro.
By far the most popular mist, having racked up more than 700 reviews, is Caramel Vacay, which draws some similarities to Sol de Janeiro's cult classic Cheirosa 62. The bottle boasts subtle notes of pistachio, sweet almond, heliotrope and jasmine - alongside the expected vanilla and salted caramel. Superdrug also sells an £11.99 Mar E Sol Salted Caramel & Pistachio Body Mist, which features 250ml.
Likened to Cheirosa 59, Orchid Dreams stars warm violet and vanilla orchid notes. While Sunset Serenity blends together caramel and luscious fruits for something reminiscent of Cheirosa 87.

The final scent in the set, Botanical Breeze, doesn't seem to compare to any of Sol de Janeiro's scents. Instead it shares similar notes to Victoria's Secret Fresh Jade with apple, coconut, lemon and orange notes, however, the VS mist doesn't seem to be available to buy in the UK yet.
So far there are only three reviews for the spray bundle but they're all perfect five stars. One shopper said: "They products are great , smells lovely and fast delivery will definitely buy again."
A second penned: "Love them all they all smell so fresh." A third added: "Amazing smells and the spay lasts. I like all the fragrances to suit my moods. The sprays are so light they glide into the skin."
However it is worth noting that Caramel Vacay, which shares a number of notes with cult classic Sol De Janeiro's Cheirosa 62, has an average rating of 5 of out 714 reviews. One shopper said: "This is just as good if not better than Sol de janeiro and smells delicious and lasts longer."
A second penned: "Absolutely love this body spray! Smells gorgeous and doesn't leave any sort of sticky feeling like some others do! Cannot fault any products I have purchased from this website so far! Skincare, hair care is all amazing! Also the body cream is great too, it's smooth and like the spray has no stickiness feeling, also smells just as good as the body spray!"
The £36 body spray bundle, which contains 800ml of fragrance, is now available on GiveMeCosmetics. Sol de Janeiro are currently selling a £38 body mist set on LookFantastic but it contains only 120ml of perfume.

I'm the Queen of Clean & swear by 69p Superdrug buy to get rid of greasy suncream stains – it's probably in your handbag

CLEAN BREAK I'm the Queen of Clean & swear by 69p Superdrug buy to get rid of greasy suncream stains – it's probably in your handbag FROM barbeques to days at the beach, summertime can be a lot of fun but one essential may be damaging your favourite clothes. While essential for your health and well-being, suncream can be fatal to your wardrobe. Advertisement 3 Suncream is one of the many stains you can get on your summer wardrobe (stock image) Credit: Getty 3 Lynsey Crombie shared the DIY hack she uses to remove stubborn stains from her clothes all summer long Credit: Supplied The summer staple can be a real nuisance to remove from clothes if it comes into contact with them. And you'll want to act quick as the longer you leave it, the worse it'll become. So if you're out and about when the stain happens, a cleaning expert has shared a handy hack. You probably already have the holy grail item somewhere in your handbag. Advertisement To begin, This Morning's Lynsey Crombie recommended gently blotting the stain to absorb as much of the cream as possible. This will help to prevent the product from spreading further across the material. Hand sanitiser And the best way to stop this from happening is to cover the stain with hand sanitiser. With a high alcohol content, this product acts as an on-the-go solvent when you can't throw the stained item into the wash. Advertisement Hand sanitiser can help loosen and lift sunscreen stains, especially those containing oils and certain chemicals, as it breaks down these substances. The alcohol helps to emulsify the oils in the suncream, making them easier to wash away. Doctor shares why you must never wash clothes at 90 or 40 degrees & the right temperature for 'everything but gym gear' And you can pick up a bottle of hand sanitiser for just 69p from Superdrug. Other DIY hacks And if you find yourself trying to save your clothes from suncream stains while you're away at the beach, your saving grace is literally all around you. Advertisement "Cover the stain with sand to dry it out," the cleaning expert advised. "As soon as you can, rinse the stain from the reverse under a cold water tap, to help push it out of the fabric." And if a spillage mishap happens at a barbecue, begin by scraping any excess product with a blunt knife. Laundry tips Catherine Green, sustainable cleaning expert at smol shared her laundry tips. How often should you be remaking your bed? When it comes to your bed, maintaining a hygienic sleep setup can actually improve your sleep quality, helping you start every day better. Most people shed 500 million skin cells per day and a lot of that ends up in bed for dust mites to feed on. And those with asthma or allergies might see symptoms worsen by sleeping on dirty sheets! You want to be washing your sheets once a week - or every 10 days if you don't suffer from allergies and wear nightclothes. Bedding builds up with sweat, skin cells and oils quickly, even if it doesn't look dirty. Using an effective detergent like smol's will still give you a great clean on a 20°C cycle - that's better for the planet and your energy bills! What temperature do smol recommend then? For your regular weekly washes I recommend washing most loads at 20°C for 30 minutes. It's gentler on fabrics, slashes energy use, and still delivers excellent stain removal with the right detergent. A colder wash can actually be more effective if you opt for a bio detergent as its enzymes need cooler water; too hot and they lose their ability to digest stains. A wash at 60°c (unless you have silk sheets) every now and again can help kill off dust mites and other nasties. What's the difference between bio and non-bio detergent? Bio detergents contain enzymes, which are especially good at breaking down tough stains like food, grass, or sweat. It's best used in mid to low temperature washes (ideally between 20-40°C) as anything hotter can cause them not to work effectively. Non-bio skips the enzymes, which in turn makes it more suitable for those with sensitive skin or allergies. Although non-bio doesn't contain enzymes, it's still great at removing stains and keeping your clothes clean, you just may need to use a slightly higher temperature setting to aid with the cleaning process. This helps to prevent it from seeping further into the fabric. Advertisement "You should then flip the item inside out and rinse under cold running water to push the sauce out from the back, as this helps lift the stain rather than spread it," Lynsey said. "Cold water also prevents the stain from setting." Summer cleaning hacks Plus, hacks for removing stubborn sweat stains from your clothes this summer. A three-ingredient paste will leave any yellowed item looking whiter and brighter than ever. Advertisement But you may want to rethink drying your clothes on your line this summer. However, if you do hang out your clothes a simple hack can speed up the process.

Katie Price forced to delete Princess' Instagram post after awkward mistake

A red-faced Katie Price was forced to delete an Instagram tribute to daughter Princess Andre this week. 47-year-old glamour model and personality Katie shares influencer daughter Princess (full name Princess Tiaamii Crystal Esther Andre) with former husband Peter Andre. Earlier this week, she took to social media to wish her 17-year-old daughter a happy 18th birthday. Posting a picture of Princess to her Instagram Stories, Katie wrote: 'Happy 18th birthday to the most amazing daughter and my best friend @princess_andre I love you so much'. Realising the mistake she'd made, Katie then took the post down and replaced it with another. '2 days until Princess turns 18 can't believe it xx,' she wrote in the updated post. The TV personality is also mother of Harvey (23), Junior (20), Jett (11), and Bunny (10). Harvey's father is footballer Dwight Yorke, while Junior and Princess were both born from her four-year marriage to Peter Andre. She shares youngest children Jett and Bunny with ex Kieran Hayler, to whom she was married between 2013 to 2018. Princess has indicated her intention of following in her mother's footsteps, previously sharing her ambition of becoming a millionaire before she turns 20. She's already scored brand deals with the likes of Superdrug and PrettyLittleThing, and is also launching her own jewellery line. It was announced earlier that year that she would headline her own ITV show, which follows her journey into the public eye. While Katie is not expected to appear in the show, dad Peter and brother Junior will cameo, along with Peter's wife, Emily. In March, Princess sparked controversy by posting a picture of the £25,000 Audi A1 she purchased after passing her driving test. While many accused her of buying the car with her rich and famous parents' money, Princess hit back, claiming she had her own income. More Trending 'These comments are so funny. To everyone out there, yes I work and yes I earn my own money which I'm super proud of and so thankful that I am lucky enough to buy my own car xx,' she wrote. Mum Katie also commented, saying: 'So proud and so scared at the same time. My baby girl turns 18 next month too so lots of exciting things we will be doing together.' Of Princess passing her driving test, proud dad Peter wrote in his column: 'She kept telling me she failed four times. But you know what they say – or maybe don't say! – The fifth time's a charm. 'As I said to her, it's actually better that it's taken a while for her to pass because at least she knows now that she genuinely deserves to pass and she can feel confident on the roads.' Sol de Janeiro perfume set now less than £10 in clever money-saving deal stack

Summer has finally arrived, and for those on the hunt for the perfect seasonal fragrance, LookFantastic may have just the deal. Sol de Janeiro's highly popular scents have taken social media by storm, and now there's a clever way to get a limited set featuring some of the brand's top-selling body mists for less. The highly sought after Sol de Janeiro Limited Edition Perfume Mist Discovery Set includes four 30ml bottles of the brand's top selling fragrances and usually retails at £38. However, on Lookfantastic it's currently on sale and reduced to £26.60, with a total saving of £11.40. While that's already a significant discount, we've got a sneaky little way for shoppers to save even more money - and that's via deal's website TopCashback. How it works is, newcomers to TopCashback can claim a complimentary £15 signup bonus by creating a free account, here, and then searching for the brand Lookfantastic on the site. Follow the link through to the website and checkout. For those also new to the beauty retailer's site, the Sol de Janeiro set will cost just £8.28 after cashback. Existing LookFantastic customers can also benefit from a modest cashback amount, bringing the set down to £10.49 after this smart trick. Containing four 30ml bottles of Sol de Janeiro's most sought-after fragrances, Cheirosa 62, Cheirosa 68, Cheirosa 59, and Cheirosa 40, it's a sweet set that is perfect for any upcoming summer holidays. Being a relatively easy travel size, they're also ideal for the gym bag, or for those eager to sample the brand's viral scents before investing in a full-size bottle, reports the Mirror. For those who don't quite fancy Sol De Janeiro but are after a new scent for summer - at a fraction of the cost - Tom Ford's Signature Mini Discovery Set at Boots is £30, while The Perfume Shop is also offering a selection of Versace Women's perfumes for £14.99. Sol de Janeiro's fragrances, particularly the celebrated Cheirosa 62 scent often hailed as "summer in a bottle" for its delicious mix of pistachio, salted caramel, and vanilla notes, have garnered a dedicated fan base, with reviews consistently glowing and raving about the smell. Feedback from online shoppers regarding this set in particular has been overwhelmingly positive, with more than 50 glowing reviews. One customer commented: "Great way to try out the different scents. My daughter absolutely loves them all! Scent 62 is still my fave." Another person remarked: "I'd smelt these on a few friends, so decided to get this set as a way to try a few scents out. I discovered that the two pink bottles are my favourite, and the original yellow is pleasant enough to wear when I just need a quick spritz." They added: "Perfect for daily wear or beachy days. These will definitely be coming in my suitcase on holiday." Someone else remarked: "I purchased this as a gift for someone who wanted to try out the scents but wasn't sure where to start. She absolutely loved it! The bottles are small, but this makes them perfect for bringing out and about." It's a good gift for those who enjoy the Sol De Janeiro scents too as one shopper wrote: "I frequently buy number 62 as I love it and didn't think it could be beat! Received this for my birthday and they all smell amazing, think 68 may be my new favourite." While it's great for those who want to stock up for holidays, for newbies to the brand, it could go one of two ways as one shopper found. "This was great," they said, "but I didn't like all the scents."
