Kippen schoolgirls raise thousands for charity in fundraising efforts

Daily Record23-05-2025
The Kippen Primary pals have already held a successful tea party - and now one of them is taking on a special abseil challenge from one of Scotland's most well-known attractions.
A pair of Kippen schoolgirls have helped raise more than £2,000 for a pair of charitable causes close to their hearts.
Orlagh McGookin-Davies and Lucy Wilson, who are Primary Seven pupils from Kippen Primary, held a tea party and an accompanying raffle last Sunday (May 17).

The pair and their families were quick to thank everyone for their 'incredible generosity' on the day after it raised a total of £1,396 on the day, with further donations coming in later.

But that isn't the end of their efforts, with Orlagh taking part in the Kelpie Challenge on July 13 to raise much needed funds to help support Strathcarron Hospice, in memory of her aunt Bibby who spent her final weeks there.
Orlagh has already exceeded her initial target of £500 for the challenge, but her JustGiving page will remain open until it all takes place in July.
The Kelpie Challenge sees participants climbing through a maze of ladders and suspended platforms inside the famous landmark near Falkirk, before either having the choice of a free hang abseil or a descent via the quick flight rope back to the ground.
Meanwhile Lucy is raising funds for MacMillan Cancer Support to help them offer vital support to families whose lives have been affected by cancer.
Lucy hopes that her fundraising efforts will help make a difference to someone when they need it most and her page will also remain open.

The Daughter of Time review — a hopeless whodunnit

I love theatre. I love whodunnits. But can the stage thriller still cut it in 2025, when it's as whiskery an enterprise as Viennese waltzes, buttermints or reasoned political debate? Certainly it appears to be having a moment. PD James's Death at Pemberley has just started a tour. Coming within the next few weeks are tours for the TV detectives Inspector Morse (House of Ghosts), DI Barnaby (Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger's Drift) and DSI Grace (Picture You Dead). These join the London mainstays The Mousetrap (est 1952) and Witness for the Prosecution (2017). The latter's director, Lucy Bailey, is also behind a tour of Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile, while her previous Poirot, Murder on the Orient Express , tours China this autumn.

But in a TikTok shared on Tuesday evening, Tommy and Lucy looked cosier than ever as they glammed up for an evening out. Then, in a cryptic move, Emily sang along to the lyrics 'Daddy's Home' by Usher, as Tommy appeared in shot. Lucy posted a TikTok of her own yesterday too, which saw her strutting her stuff in a pink top and shades to the lyrics 'don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me.' Fans have flooded the comments of both posts, questioning what has happened between Lucy and Tommy. One person wrote: 'Are they together or is he with Lucy?!' while a second questioned: 'have you and Tommy split xx.' The Sun contacted Tommy's rep for comment, and Lucy's representative chose not to comment Love Island fans slam dumped villa boy as they spot moment his 'mask slipped' in 'nasty' rant Earlier this month, the pair joined Maya Jama on Love Island Aftersun to address the infamous voicenote that has gone viral on social media. Lucy explained: "So obviously, like, we've probably all done it... sent voicenotes to friends and obviously I really did trust that friend and with the Tommy situation, I was obviously saying he's a very nice boy and that's why I wanted to get to know him. "I did say till the end, but it weren't the final, I meant the end... I would like to be with him in the future. "Someone with really good morals and also before going on the show, my dad did say to me he's the kind of boy he'd like me to bring home because he's very respectful." The Liverpudlian then apologised for her "rude" comments about Megan after she branded her a "f**king little slapper". Lucy continued: "Obviously to talk about Megan as well, I should never have commented on someone I'd never met before, so I do really apologise about that because I'm not that type of girl and it was very rude of me to do that as well." Tommy then tried to defend Lucy following the backlash she's since received. He told Maya: "You said as well, at the time, we're all just characters on the screen to her. "I know you were very excited to be going on one of the biggest reality show's in the country... emotions were high and you were speaking to one of your close friends. "I think it's been blown out of proportion a little bit because I've said things to my friends in group chats, which if got leaked, it might have made me look like a bad person, but it's just to your mate, you never expect everyone to listen to it." Maya insisted: "That's definitely not a good friend, I hope you blocked her after that." Lucy admitted she's no longer pals with the person who leaked it. 5 Tommy and Emily Moran enjoyed a brief fling while in the villa, before he dumped her for Lucy Credit: TikTok

In tonight's episode, The Sun can reveal that Megan shares the update with Conor to defend her name. The saga begins when Dejon tells the lads he thinks Megan is acting differently since her return. Blu, who returned alongside Megan last week, then says he'd heard she had caught up with Tommy on the outside. Our source said: 'Conor then pulls Megan for a chat about it, because he's worried about where this leaves him. 'So she lays her cards on the table and explains why - and how - she and Tommy spoke. 'She tells him she saw Tommy and Lucy out at Tape nightclub and that Lucy wanted to speak to her because of a leaked voicenote - in which Lucy called her a sl****r. 'It'll all play out in tonight's episode.' REAL DEAL It came shortly after Lucy revealed the truth behind the mystery voicenote. The Sun firstly revealed a 37-second recording, where she plotted to couple with popular Tommy Bradley. Love Island fans praise Megan as she calls out Harry for his actions in brutal speech It then went viral on social media. On Love Island spin-off Aftersun, Lucy said: "So obviously, like, we've probably all done it... sent voicenotes to friends and obviously I really did trust that friend and with the Tommy situation, I was obviously saying he's a very nice boy and that's why I wanted to get to know him. LOVE ISLAND 2025 - ALL the dumped stars so far LOVE Island 2025 is in its penultimate week. Here are all the dumped Islanders so far ... HUGE COMEBACK Meanwhile, there could be more potential drama for the pair after The Sun was first to report how the "entire" cast of the 2025 season will return ahead of the final. We told how this year's Love Island cohort will make a second entrance into the Mallorca villa. A source told us the scenes will air on ITV2 soon and said: "The entire cast will be returning to the villa this week - just like the 'jury' in All Stars earlier this year. "They'll come face to face with the stars who dumped them, and in some cases, have slagged them off live on TV!" Our source added of the current show twist: "It'll be explosive and must watch TV - during All Stars Liv Hawkins spilled a secret that changed the outcome of the entire show so the cast will be VERY nervous when they realise what is about to happen!" 7 Megan clashed with Lucy when she had been evicted earlier in the series Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 7 Megan is back in the villa and reignited her connection with Conor Phillips Credit: Shutterstock Editorial
