Palo Alto Networks unveils Prisma SASE browser for AI security
According to Palo Alto Networks, approximately 85 percent of work currently takes place within browsers, elevating risks related to data exposure and endpoint monitoring. The company's 2025 Unit 42 Incident Report highlights that 44 percent of reported security incidents are connected to activities conducted through employee browsers, including phishing, URL redirect abuse, and malware downloads.
John Grady, Principal Analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, now part of Omdia, commented on the announcement: "A secure browser extends SASE protection to where knowledge workers spend most of their time, securing third-party access, supporting BYOD, and reducing an organisation's reliance on legacy infrastructure like VDI. Palo Alto Networks unique approach of integrating its Prisma Access Browser with Prisma SASE helps organisations extend the same protection from advanced threats, user experience monitoring, and GenAI app protection from the network into the browser, ensuring users are protected, efficient, and productive."
The Prisma Access Browser 2.0, positioned as the only SASE-native secure browser, is developed to support secure access for a distributed and cloud-focused workforce. It introduces several features aimed at safeguarding the use of generative AI applications, real-time data loss prevention, and advanced threat protection directly within the browser.
The new browser incorporates capabilities such as real-time visibility and access control for generative AI use. By implementing large language model-powered context-based data classification, the system is designed to detect and prevent the unintentional leakage of sensitive data through clipboard functions, printing, screenshots, or typing.
In addition, the browser is equipped with threat detection mechanisms powered by Precision AI, intended to identify sophisticated web-based attacks. These defences address threats such as AI-generated cloaking, SaaS-hosted phishing, evasive code, and malicious injections targeting compromised websites, which often go undetected outside the browser environment.
The platform also aims to provide an improved user experience. Users can reportedly access both modern web and SaaS applications, as well as legacy infrastructure—including virtual desktop infrastructure applications—from a unified, browser-based interface.

Expanding on the strategic importance, Anand Oswal, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Network Security at Palo Alto Networks, stated: "Secure browsers are absolutely essential for the modern workforce because today's work is increasingly remote, cloud-based, and data-intensive. This shift demands a unified, modern approach to security — a SASE natively integrated secure browser — that uniquely safeguards productivity, helps ensure resilience, and does so with a seamless user experience, making it the optimal choice for securing today's dynamic work environments."
In addition to Prisma Access Browser 2.0, Palo Alto Networks has introduced other new features to its SASE portfolio. These include Endpoint Data Loss Prevention (DLP) to enhance shadow data discovery and insider risk mitigation, App Acceleration for improved productivity app performance branching through Prisma SD-WAN, and the Next-Generation Unified SASE Agent for streamlining IT operations.
The company has also extended its partnership with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, aiming to enhance global cloud reach and resilience for Prisma SASE customers.

According to the company, the newly announced SASE features are intended to be available in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2025.

The update addresses ongoing challenges faced by enterprises as they balance traditional hardware with cloud-managed systems, especially with the increasing adoption of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) environments. The complexity of these hybrid networks, coupled with the use of multiple management tools, often hinders comprehensive visibility and coordination of security processes across organisations. BackBox 8.0 is positioned as a response to these trends, providing a single dashboard that allows organisations to oversee and control security measures, compliance requirements, and device lifecycle management for both on-premise and cloud-managed network assets. Unified network overview The update delivers a new platform home page that offers a complete overview of an organisation's cyber resilience across three principal areas: Automated Lifecycle Management, Configuration Compliance and Policy Management, and Network Infrastructure Integrity. This interface grants immediate insights into whether a network aligns with established best practices and security policies, which is intended to support more proactive risk management strategies. "Network cyber resilience is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It is a complex issue, and each organization begins from a different starting point, with its unique vendors, tools, and progress made," said Rekha Shenoy, CEO of BackBox. "BackBox 8.0 is designed to accommodate this reality by providing a unified view of your modern network infrastructure, seamlessly integrating on-prem and cloud-managed elements. This enables enhanced network security, compliance, and lifecycle management automation, bolstering your organization's overall cyber resilience." Automation and compliance BackBox 8.0 introduces several features that automate manual processes in network management. Device Lifecycle Governance enables teams to define stages such as Staging, Active, Maintenance, Ignored, and Orphaned for any device, supporting compliance verifications and licence management throughout its lifespan. The update also enhances support for Meraki device management, addressing the shift within enterprises toward cloud-managed networks. According to BackBox, 33% of enterprises are deploying or will deploy SASE technology within the next 24 months, despite previous investments in hardware that typically have a lifespan of four to seven years. The new Meraki capabilities allow for scheduled imports into a staging environment for compliance checks, identification of orphaned devices, and ongoing validation against both industry and custom security policies. The platform additionally checks for configuration vulnerabilities and provides guidance on potential workarounds. Another area of expansion is Network Infrastructure Integrity. The new platform includes CVE Workaround Insights, informing administrators of available configuration adjustments that can mitigate risks without immediate patching or upgrades. BackBox cited data indicating 40,009 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs) were recorded in 2024 - a 38% increase from the previous year - alongside a 34% increase in attacker exploitation of vulnerabilities for initial access. Regulatory support and reporting With regulatory demands such as DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) influencing network management, BackBox 8.0 enables users to create device inventory and configuration comparison reports across different dates, simplifying audit and compliance processes. Organisations can also assess compliance status for every device, with instant indications if a device passes, fails, or remains unchecked. The company stated that 67% of enterprise networking activities are currently done manually, a figure associated with lower incident response and change management performance. By automating these processes, the platform aims to reduce manual intervention and bolster adherence to organisational and regulatory standards. BackBox delivers greater visibility into on-prem and cloud-managed/SASE devices, which in turn delivers confidence that all devices are up-to-date and secure. Datadobi unveils StorageMAP 7.3 with enhanced automation tools
Datadobi has announced the release of StorageMAP 7.3, introducing new features aimed at improving automation, governance, and compliance for organisations managing unstructured data across diverse storage systems. Policy-driven workflows The updated version of StorageMAP now includes policy-driven workflows, allowing administrators to set up automated tasks that are initiated by specific triggers, such as scheduled times. These workflows can be previewed with a "dry run" capability to ensure accuracy prior to execution. According to Datadobi, this enhancement supports use cases such as the automated archiving of data, establishing pipelines for feeding GenAI applications, and isolating non-business-related data into designated quarantine areas. After policies are configured and activated, StorageMAP executes the workflows automatically as scheduled, reducing the need for ongoing manual oversight. Precision deletion StorageMAP 7.3 has expanded its data management toolkit with the introduction of granular file-level delete functionality. This feature enables administrators to pinpoint files based on specific criteria and use them as input for targeted deletion tasks. Following execution, each deletion is detailed in a report documenting the scope and outcome of the job. The company states that this development is particularly relevant for scenarios where bulk deletions are impractical due to mixed content within directories. By providing a finer level of control, administrators can develop and deploy more precise deletion strategies. Compliance-focused object mobility Object migration capabilities have also been enhanced in StorageMAP 7.3, with support added for moving locked objects between S3-compatible platforms. This change allows organisations to transfer compliant data stored in Write Once Read Many (WORM) formats to alternative storage vendors without losing retention dates or legal holds. During migration or replication tasks, administrators now have the option to designate the storage class for S3 objects, enabling data to be allocated to the appropriate tier immediately and avoiding the need for subsequent lifecycle management policies. "StorageMAP 7.3 marks a major step forward in enabling true automation for unstructured data management. Organizations can now define and execute policy-based actions at scale, removing the bottlenecks inherent to existing manual processes, making their file and object storage environments far more responsive to operational needs," said Carl D'Halluin, CTO, Datadobi.
