Jim Cramer Says Stay Away from Twilio Inc (TWLO) – ‘Hype is Too Great'

Yahoo02-04-2025
We recently published a list of . In this article, we are going to take a look at where Twilio Inc (NYSE:TWLO) stands against other stocks that Jim Cramer is discussing ahead of Q1 earnings season.
Jim Cramer in a latest program on CNBC talked about the winning sectors so far this year and said the trends show a 'strange' pattern. Cramer specifically mentioned the oil and gas sector which he believed would underperform given President Donald Trump's plan to keep energy prices lower.
'I thought this group would be down given that the president wants to expand drill and we have a slower economy, but the stocks aren't expensive and demand for natural gas very strong,' Cramer said.
Cramer also talked about healthcare and other key sectors that performed well. He believes these patterns show that investors are turning to sectors that perform well during recessions. However, Cramer thinks the state of the economy is better than feared.
'The seven stocks that make up the S&P are too big to dismiss. You need at least some of them to put together a really positive tape. But the bottom line, it's terrific to see such a broad mixture of stocks winning here, from ones that can run in a recession to ones that can rally hard in a robust economy. What it tells me is that the market may be far healthier than we think, and this backdrop simply isn't as bad as many would have you believe.'

Jim Cramer was asked about cloud communications and technology company Twilio Inc (NYSE:TWLO). Here is what he said:
'Yeah, they did miss the quarter, and I think that I think the hype is too great on Twilio. I know everyone got all excited about it, but that's a very crowded field. I'm going to have to say no, I don't want to buy Twilio here.'

1 Dividend Giant Paying Over 7%, With Big Things Coming

Energy Transfer offers one of the highest dividend yields among Fortune 500 companies. Energy Transfer operates in the midstream segment of the energy industry, transporting and storing oil and gas. Customers typically sign long-term contracts with Energy Transfer, providing stable income. 10 stocks we like better than Energy Transfer › It's always nice to see the prices of your stock appreciate, but that's not the only way to make a good amount of money in the stock market. There are also dividends, which are more predictable and can significantly contribute to your total returns. As of June 30, the S&P 500's dividend yield is just under 1.3%, but there's an ultra-high-yield dividend stock that offers a yield over 5.5 times that amount: Energy Transfer (NYSE: ET). It hasn't been the best year for Energy Transfer, down over 7% through June 30, but the company has plans in the works that make it a dividend stock worth considering. The energy industry is divided into three segments: upstream, midstream, and downstream. Upstream companies find and produce oil and gas; midstream companies transport and store oil and gas; and downstream companies turn the oil and gas into end-products like gasoline, diesel, and other fuels. Energy Transfer primarily operates in the midstream sector, with over 130,000 miles of pipeline in 38 states, making it one of the largest midstream companies in the U.S. It makes money by charging fees based on volume, and these contracts are often locked into longer-term agreements (20+ years). This helps it maintain relatively stable revenue. Unlike a typical company structured as a corporation, Energy Transfer is a limited partnership (LP). In an LP, profits and losses are passed on to partners (investors), allowing the LP to avoid taxes and distribute more money to its investors. This is why Energy Transfer is able to maintain its high dividend payout. Its current dividend yield is slightly below its three-year average, but it remains one of the highest among Fortune 500 companies. Energy Transfer's dividend payout fluctuates because it depends on its distributable cash flow (DCF), but it aims to increase it by 3% to 5% each year. In the first quarter (Q1), Energy Transfer's revenue decreased 2.8% year over year (YOY), and its DCF fell by 4.1% YOY to $2.31 billion. This isn't ideal, but it's not a cause for concern with the energy sector known for being cyclical. Even with the revenue slowdown, Energy Transfer managed to increase its revenue by 7% year over year to $1.32 billion. The company says it currently has its "strongest financial position in partnership history," and this is expected to continue with the projects it has in the works. Some notable recent accomplishments and projects in the work include: Signed a 20-year contract with Chevron to provide additional natural gas through its pipeline. Expanded its Permian Basin capacity to accommodate growing natural gas demand. Signed an agreement with CloudBurst to provide natural gas to its AI-focused data center. Signed an agreement to supply Kyushu Electric Power. Energy Transfer is continuously expanding its footprint by investing in growth projects and making acquisitions (although some have complained about how much they're spending on them), setting itself up for sustained growth and consistent cash flow. A high dividend yield is great, but that alone doesn't make a stock a good investment. In Energy Transfer's case, however, it has a solid business to back its dividend. It has a solid customer base, growth opportunities, and good financial health. If you can deal with the additional tax step needed when dealing with LPs and their distributions (like filing a Schedule K-1 form), then there's plenty to gain from owning Energy Transfer's stock. AI voice startup ElevenLabs pushes global expansion as it gears up for an IPO

LONDON — ElevenLabs, a London-based startup that specializes in generating synthetic voices through artificial intelligence, has revealed plans to be IPO-ready within five years. The company told CNBC it is targeting major global expansion as it prepares for an initial public offering. "We expect to build more hubs in Europe, Asia and South America, and just keep scaling," Mati Staniszewski, ElevenLabs' CEO and co-founder, told CNBC in an interview at the firm's London office. He identified Paris, Singapore, Brazil and Mexico as potential new locations. London is currently ElevenLabs' biggest office, followed by New York, Warsaw, San Francisco, Japan, India and Bangalore. Staniszewski said the eventual aim is to get the company ready for an IPO in the next five years. "From a commercial standpoint, we would like to be ready for an IPO in that time," he said. "If the market is right, we would like to create a public company … that's going to be here for the next generation." Founded in 2022 by Staniszewski and Piotr Dąbkowski, ElevenLabs is an AI voice generation startup that competes with the likes of Speechmatics and Hume AI. The company divides its business into three main camps: consumer-facing voice assistants, integrations with corporates such as Cisco, and tailor-made applications for specific industries like health care. Staniszewski said the firm hasn't yet decided where it could list, but that this decision will largely rest on where most of its users are located at the time. "If the U.K. is able to start accelerating," ElevenLabs will consider London as a listing destination, Staniszewski said. The city has faced criticisms from entrepreneurs and venture capitalists that its stock market is unfavorable toward high-growth tech firms. For example, Deliveroo, whose shares tanked nearly 30% when the company went public, was recently acquired by U.S. food delivery rival DoorDash for close to $4 billion. Meanwhile, British money transfer firm Wise last month said it plans to move its primary listing location to the U.S., ElevenLabs was valued at $3.3 billion following a recent $180 million funding round. The company is backed by the likes of Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital and ICONIQ Growth, as well as corporate names like Salesforce and Deutsche Telekom. Staniszewski said his startup was open to raising more money from VCs, but it would depend on whether it sees a valid business need, like scaling further in other markets. "The way we try to raise is very much like, if there's a bet we want to take, to accelerate that bet [we will] take the money," he said.
