Twisted Metal – Season 2 Episode 1 'PRSRPNT' Recap & Review

The Review Geek3 days ago
PRSRPNT
Episode 1 of Twisted Metal season 2 kicks off in San Jose, California. We're back in 1998 where we see a young Raven rock up at a graduation party with her friend (see: lover) Kelly. They're teased by the other kids as Raven goes through her tarot cards, which quickly changes the mood of the party entirely.
However, the prank the pair have concocted takes a turn for the worst when Kelly hits her head and falls in the pool. When Raven finds out, she races outside but it's too late – her friend is found face-down in the pool.
Back in the present, in New San Francisco, John Doe is kept under lock and key. John is forced to practice his driving skills (using an arcade machine playing Twisted Metal!) while continuing to eke out a living as a delivery driver. He amusingly uses the alias of John Dough but John is kept under tight wraps.
John is eventually reprimanded by Raven though, as she reminds him that he needs to get his act together. The only way out of this is to drive to survive (no pun intended) and help save Kelly.
Meanwhile, Dollface, Quiet, and the other Dolls continue to hit supply lines, desperate to take down the City. They're determined to upset the status quo and set out to destroy the Wall of the City to redistribute wealth to those outside. They way they intend to do this, as Quiet suggests toward the end of the episode, is to compete in a winner-takes-all tournament.
The idea of death and survival segues us nicely into Sweet Tooth and Stu, who we catch up with out maiming and killing. Stu is still a student in the academy of Sweet Tooth killing, and hasn't got his degree just yet, but the pair are determined to kill the more fearsome killers and claim that accolade for themselves.
On the hunt, the pair learn about the legend of Big Baby, a man who apparently wiped out an entire town in one day and is the most infamous killer in these parts. Sweet Tooth and Stu eventually catch up with this guy, who certainly lives up to his name. He has an umbilical cord with a mace attached on the end, which he use as a weapon.
While he fights with Sweet Tooth, Stu and the mum fight together. The pair easily thwart the killers… only to find out there's an even bigger killer out there called the Trash Man. He's the biggest killer this side of the Mississippi. Instead of playing whac-A-Mole and taking these killers out one at a time, Sweet Tooth leaves Stu with a plan to bring all the killers to them.
Grounded, John Doe has no choice but to sit down with some quality reading material. That, of course, stems from The Babysitters Club series. When John fails to find Volume 89, he hunts upstairs and finds the volume… carved out and stashing weed inside.
John also finds a diary with a secret map that could be his way out of this. One of the guards (who isn't the sharpest tool in the shed) helps John escape too. They switch clothes in order to do so, and John Doe manages to slip out undetected. In the parking lot, he finds an ambulance sporting Kelly inside, who's still alive but comatose and on life support.
All of these loose threads are connected together by a special broadcast set out by Calypso. He's hosting a tournament and wants everybody to attend. In a week's time it'll begin with a battle of survival. Whoever wins will get one wish granted, no matter what it may be.
As the episode closes out, John is stopped on his way out the city driving the ambulance by the dolls. On the road, they flip the ambulance and Quiet winds up shooting him in the shoulder. John is not happy when he finds out Quiet is the one who's hit the kill shot. However, in a nice little twist, it appears that Dollface may actually be John's sister.
Before leaving, he's sure to drop off Kelly and her life-support machine in the parking lot, much to the relief of Raven. Well, until she notices a ripped page from the diary in her hand.
The Episode Review
So Twisted Metal is back and this crazy comedic drama wastes no time picking up right where the action left off. The familiar comedic beats, mixed in with the gory drama, works just as effectively here as it did the first time around, with everything gearing up for this big tournament.
Understanding more about Raven's history is definitely a nice touch, while the show does well to keep things interesting – at the moment anyway – as it's unclear who's going to come out of this in one piece.
Twisted Metal has all the ingredients to be just as insane as season 1, so we'll have to wait and see where this one goes next.

Star of hit 70s TV show looks very different as she makes rare appearance – can you tell who it is?

A SEVENTIES TV star looked completely unrecognizable as she stepped out to run errands in Los Angeles. The iconic small screen actress dressed down in red shorts, a black logo top and sandals as she enjoyed a day in the sunshine. 6 6 Leaving her hair in loose waves, she pulled on a pair of sunglasses and slung a bag over her shoulder. Susan Olsen, famed for her role in The Brady Bunch, was seen clutching her car keys as she exited her white SUV. The 63-year-old juggled a bunch of papers under her left arm as she made her way around town. Her very different look to her Brady Bunch role - which saw her playing youngest Brady child Cindy - came after her former co-star Maureen McCormick also left fans doing a double take with her look. Susan and Maureen, as well as Mike Lookinland, Eve Plumb, Christopher Knight and Barry Williams starred as the siblings in the US sitcom from 1969 to 1974 and then reunited for the reboot. Santa Monica born Susan - who was aged seven when she was cast in her plum TV role - was often seen on-screen with her blonde locks tied into to pig tails for her five years on the series. SUSAN'S TAKE Susan has previously spoken out about her tendency to play "dull" roles in her career. She previously said: "That's just how my career was and it was something I had to accept." The Brady Bunch was a massive hit for five years from 1969 She also opened up to the Real Brady Bros podcast about a scary incident on set. It saw the child star hit with a piece of equipment while she was having her make-up done prior to the show's pilot episode. She said of the aftermath: "My eyes were black. "I mean, I had two black eyes. My nose was swollen. My face was swollen." She added: "The saddest news is that we didn't sue Paramount, because I would have made more off of that than the show.' Meanwhile, her former Brady Bunch co-star Maureen has opened up on the prospect of a series reboot. Maureen recently told People: "It's so hard to do a reboot or a remake of something. "So I feel very protective of it in a way. It has such great memories for so many people, but it would just have to absolutely knock my socks off for me to want to do anything with it. I would know in my heart. "But it was such an incredible show to be a part of, and my best memories of the show are the people, the crew, and their families." OTHER PROJECTS Susan also appeared on Space Ghost Coast To Coast, Blending Christmas, The Young And The Restless and Gimmie My Reality Show to name a few. Film-wise, she featured in 2009 flick Zombo and in 2015, in Mamam Claus, Deck The Halls With Guts. Away from TV, she has been the spokesperson for the Sindy doll and also for migraine sufferers. 6 6 6

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz renew wedding vows after three years of marriage amid family feud

BROOKLYN Beckham and Nicola Peltz have renewed their wedding vows after three years of marriage. Nicola, 30, and Brooklyn, 26, have reportedly said "I do" again after seemingly keeping their distance from his famous family. 4 4 4 Rumours of a family feud have been rife after the loved up couple failed to attend dad David's 50th birthday party. But the couple seem unfazed and have now renewed their wedding vows. The couple, who first got married in April 2022 after dating for three years, reportedly said "I do" again on Saturday. A source told People magazine: "The event is about honouring the love and commitment they've built together over the years, and creating a memory that will stay with them forever." In April, the couple celebrated their third wedding anniversary when they shared gushing tributes to one another online. Brooklyn confessed that he falls "more in love" with his wife with each day that passes. A note from Brooklyn to Nicola was shared at the time, which read: "Dear Nicola, Happy anniversary baby. "I love you so much and I continue to fall more in love with you every second. "You make me a better man and I couldn't ask for a better partner. "You are my soul and my rock. David and Victoria Beckham's agony as family feud explodes into WW3 and pals say 'Brooklyn has totally cut them off' "I love you so much Nicola xx "Love Brooklyn xxxxxxx." Brooklyn's famous parents, David and Victoria Beckham, did not publicly wish the couple a happy anniversary at the time. The couple did not like their post about the milestone either. The Beckham Family Feud April 2022: Brooklyn marries Nicola Peltz. Wedding Dress Controversy: Rumours begin circulating that there's tension between Nicola and Victoria Beckham after Nicola chooses not to wear a Victoria Beckham -designed wedding gown. Nicola later clarifies in August 2022 (and again in March 2023) that Victoria's atelier couldn't make the dress in time, but reports in May 2025 suggest Victoria actually changed her mind about making the dress. Post-Wedding (2022 onwards): Minimal interaction between Nicola and Victoria on social media, and noticeable absence of Nicola at key Beckham family events. Alleged Wedding "Hijack": In May 2025, a source claimed Victoria "ruined" part of the wedding by allegedly hijacking a dance with Marc Anthony, which was meant for Brooklyn and Nicola. Nicola reportedly ran from the room crying. March 2025: A resurfaced TikTok of Romeo and Cruz mimicking a "baby voice" (which fans associate with Nicola) sparks speculation of sibling shade. April 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola are reportedly absent from Victoria Beckham's 51st birthday celebrations in Miami and her Paris Fashion Week show. May 2025: David Beckham's 50th Birthday Snub: Brooklyn and Nicola are notably absent from David Beckham's 50th birthday celebrations in London, despite being invited. Reports suggest their absence was due to Brooklyn not wanting to be in the same room as Kim Turnbull, the girlfriend of Romeo who had previously been reported to have been dating Brooklyn, who David allegedly opted to have at the party over Nicola. Rumours emerge of a falling out between Brooklyn and his younger brother Romeo, reportedly due to Romeo's new girlfriend, DJ Kim Turnbull, who allegedly had a past connection with Brooklyn. Reports surface that the Beckham parents are "hurt and disappointed" that Brooklyn is "playing no part in family life." Sources claim that tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and his parents are "definitely not beyond repair." June 2025: Brooklyn and Nicola reportedly enlist a "crisis team" similar to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for "reputation management" due to the growing media scrutiny. Cruz Beckham posts cryptic lyrics on Instagram that some interpret as a swipe at Brooklyn. July 2025: Reports indicate David and Victoria are "desperate" to reconcile with Brooklyn. Brooklyn publicly wishes his sister Harper a happy 14th birthday on Instagram, tagging Nicola, which is seen as a potential "olive branch" and a rare public message to his family amid the rumored rift. Brooklyn UNFOLLOWS his brothers Romeo and Cruz just 24 hours after his birthday message to Harper. Nicola quickly follows suit and also ditches the Beckham bros from her Instagram following. Romeo and Cruz are now also no longer following Brooklyn. Brooklyn's siblings Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, who are active on social media, also seemingly snubbed the milestone. Then, in July, Brooklyn unfollowed his brothers Cruz and Romeo on social media. He appeared to make the shock move today just hours after reaching out to sister Harper to mark her 14th birthday. Wife Nicola swiftly followed suit and unfollowed Romeo and Cruz. The brothers also unfollowed Brooklyn and Nicola in return - but were both still following each other at the time. 4
