TYRONE'S POWER (8) finished an honourable third in his first trial to Chicama and Beadman then won his next one 18-days later, easily handling The Little Master. Point being, there are some pretty strong Heats and it is clear from what he has done that he is ready for his debut. Great draw (2). The issue/negative is that there are some 2YOs here with very, very good form/race experience. Take BESKAR (1), for example – he walked in on debut then was a half-length third to North England and King of Pop in the Kindergarten.
BET: TYRONE'S POWER (8) each-way.

PHOTOGRAPHICS (3) has a tidy set of numbers; not least that two of her three career wins have been here at home, both with Molly Bourke in the saddle for her boss, Sarge. The daughter of Per Incanto has had a month between runs but kept ticking over (like a Rolex I might add) winning a 1050m trial here on April 14.
BET: PHOTOGRAPHICS (3) to win.
â– â– â– â– â–
ZAMPANO (11) won the prestigious Romantic Dream at home at Tamworth on debut then went to Gunnedah and won again a month later. Spelled, failed first-up and was spelled, but resumed this time (on March 28) with a massive 'from the back' third. Now there's another dimension to the horse. SPEEDY HENRY (15) is unbeaten in two starts; not sure about the opposition but he's running time and is from a noted 'Highway stable'. MASSIRA (1) has bankable Highway form.
BET: ZAMPANO (11) to won, exacta 11 to beat 15.
â– â– â– â– â–
ZEALOUSLY (1) went from Maiden winning to Benchmark 72 winner in three starts in the summer of 2024 which led him to the Sunshine Coast on Jan 4, 2025, for the $3 million Sunlight when and where he clocked in an admirable fourth to Private Harry no less. His 'best' is better than the rest's 'bests' IMHO. JW Kelly owned and bred EXTRAVAGENT LAD (3) has won six times with 11 placings in 25 starts. If you think that's impressive, he has posted four wins and five placings from 11 runs over the 1000m. IRON HAT (9) is pitched in here!
BET: ZEALOUSLY (1) to win.
â– â– â– â– â–
STATE OF AMERICA (4) has finished with a medal 18 times in 33 starts; with seven wins. That's pretty impressive stuff. So too is the fact that he has a 50 per cent strike-rate at the track and trip. To cap it all off, he is a last start winner who has a proven ability to hold his form. Lightly-raced French Group horse, SAGANTI (3), has presumed natural improvement in store off that very narrow loss to State Of America when he made his Down Under debut over 1600m. This trip is better again for him.
BET: STATE OF AMERICA (4) to win, quinella 3,4.
â– â– â– â– â–
STEP ASIDE (6) 's first-up record is two wins and a second from five fresh runs. Of course we have to scrub one of those given he lost the rider (Tommy Berry) first-up last preparation. He hasn't been away from racing for all that long so one trial probably suffices … well, if Waller thinks so, then so do I. Stablemate INVADER ZIM (10) is good here at Randwick and good early in his preparations too. The bottom line with both of them is what price they are about 10 minutes before they jump.
BET: STEP ASIDE (6) to win (best bet).
â– â– â– â– â–
TRAFALGAR SQUARE (13) has only managed one win in 15 starts but she has contested a Golden Gift, Kindergarten Stakes, Clarendon Stakes, Silver Shadow and Furious Stakes – and has run rather well in some of them. There was so much to like about her first-up run behind Candlewick in that WF 1200m on April 16. Reckon she is the 'weight horse' of the day with 52kgs. MARTINI MUMMA (9) is first-up out of the Kosciuszko. She was fourth in the Denise's Joy around this time last year. PAJANTI (7) could be in for a really good prep.
BET: TRAFALGAR SQUARE (13) each-way, PAJANTI (7) to place.
â– â– â– â– â–
PUNCH LANE (4) won the Glasshouse in 2024 and was runner-up in the Shannon Stakes that same spring. He was solid, at least, in the Star Kingdom first-up. He was the run of the race, IMHO, in that Benchmark 100 last Saturday at HQ. Regarding the seven day back-up, he raced eight-days prior to winning the Glasshouse. GREBENI (5) was rather unlucky behind LAVISH EMPIRE (17) (runs here too) in the Muswellbrook. Both are major players as is Ducasse. Big, big watch on WOOTTON VERNI (10)!
BET: PUNCH LANE (4) to win, box trifecta 3,4,5,10, DD 1st Leg 4, 2nd Leg 12.
â– â– â– â– â–
AUTOMNE TREE (19) is one of those Waller horses that will/might head to Queensland this winter. I think he could win a good race or two at anything from a mile up to the Derby. He's bred to stay being by The Autumn Sun and from the same family as Gold Trip. Going to need luck to make the cut, that's all. LINKS (11) has accepted for Kensington today. Runs well wherever she goes. LADY BOSS (12) has a wide draw but is talented and consistent. Ditto for DUVANA (14).
BET: AUTOMNE TREE (19) to win (best each-way).

James McDonald's last three rides on the card tomorrow have drawn barriers 12, 17 and 19 (minus scratchings, etc). Now even though 19 is the biggest number, it probably matters least on the day given this is the Doncaster start. Long story short, he'll be on KIND WORDS (12) in the last for Kris Lees. She was a handy 3YO (she ran 4th in the Queensland Oaks) and has been very good in her two starts back over 1400m, including a three-lengths 6th of 15 in the Provincial Championship Final. Peaks now. POPPIN' CHAMPAGNE (9) was good enough to place fourth in Lekvarte's G2 ATC Angst at her only run at the t/d.

Mitch Cohen's Blackbook: Five to follow from Royal Randwick

Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Daily Telegraph racing writer Mitch Cohen has analysed the Royal Randwick meeting on Saturday and found a few worth following. PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! FIVE TO FOLLOW KOIBITO (race 1, 4th) The winner Nashville Jack is a horse you will see in better races but this filly did a terrific job on debut, doing her best work late. She might be a prep away but has potential. SO YOU ARE (race 3, 2nd) This lightly-raced son of So You Think is still learning his craft and hit the line nicely over 1800m in the Highway. He will come into his own over 2000m plus. GLORIOUS MOMENTS (race 4, 1st) It was only a Benchmark 72 but it's easy to see the son of Brutal landing in better races soon. He's got stakes quality and will go through his grades quickly. SLINKY (race 7, 3rd) Put a line through her run two starts ago when she landed too close, she produced a far better run ridden cold. If she finds herself in a race with speed on next start she's worth backing. TRAVOLTA (race 10, 1st) He's won two of his three starts this preparation and can steadily go through his grades in his second preparation in Australia. Back him with confidence if the track is wet. STEWARDS SAY Open Secret (race 1): Did not feel comfortable on the soft track. Was found to be coughing post-race and will undergo further veterinary checks, including an endoscopic examination. Forecaster (race 2): Apprentice William Stanley was fined $500 for striking the gelding nine times before the 100m, four more than permitted. In Summer (race 3): Jockey Jason Collett felt the prevailing racing surface hampered her ability to close off as expected. Ruby Flyer (race 5): Did not travel comfortably on the soft track and failed to fire. Was found to be slow to recover post-race. Storm The Ramparts (race 8): A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding was slow to recover and lost his off-fore plate. He will be spelled. The Black Cloud (race 8): Did not let down under pressure and weakened in the straight. Another horse that was slow to recover post-race. Kazalark (race 10): Late scratching at 9.55am on vets advice after being found lame in the off-foreleg. CRUNCH TIME Nashville Jack (race 1): Surged home along the inside to finish his last 600m in 36.09 seconds. Wisnierska (36.08) and Koibito (36.03) both got home well in behind. Investment (race 6): She was last at one stage but relished the conditions as she was a race best split for every furlong from the 1000m to the finish. Her last 600m of 38.90 seconds was a clear best. Cigar Flick (race 8): Only had a couple of runners behind her in the run before doing her best work down the outside to finish her last 600m in 35.45 seconds. Her last 200m of 12.45 was the best of the race. Regimental Colours (race 9): Showed a terrific finishing burst, running the best final three furlongs of the race to win with splits of 11.62, 11.71 and 12.61 seconds. Her last 600m totally 35.94. TRACK TALK 'He is a nice horse, he has a bit of substance to him.' - Jockey Jason Collett on Nashville Jack. 'I was actually watching the race with Charlie (Duckworth) and said 'I don't know what this Tommy is doing, we said we were going to come through them and have the last crack at them'. Then I said after the race 'that's why Tommy is a jockey and I am a trainer'. - Chris Waller after Cigar Flick's win. 'He's a lovely horse. It's taken a fair while for us to get to this point but finally he's starting to show what we've known he has.' - Stable rep Keith Lam on Glorious Moments. 'If I get offered the chance I'll jump on a plane to come back and ride this horse. I'd go anywhere to ride him.' - Jockey Heavelon Van Der Hoven, who moved to Brisbane on Sunday, on Glorious Moments. 'I thought she could improve a bit today. I said to a few people she had a sneaky chance.' Joe Pride after $61 shot Investment saluted. 'Bit of a feel about her': New level Within reach for Baker filly

Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. Trainer Bjorn Baker is quietly confident exciting filly Within The Law can go to another level in the spring as he sets his sights on the upcoming Princess Series. Within The Law is one of several spring contenders set to step out at Tuesday's barrier trials at Rosehill Gardens with the filly set to line up in a 900m heat. PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The daughter of Lucky Vega is on the third line of betting at $8 for the Group 1 Flight Stakes with Baker keen to follow the tried and true three-year-old fillies path through the spring, which kicks off with the Group 2 $300,000 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) on August 23. 'She is going super,' Baker said. 'We will go through the fillies series and I think she has come back a little bit bigger and stronger. 'You don't get carried away but she has the temperament and everything about her suggests maybe she can be a filly that can go on to that next level. 'With two-year-olds, it's always a bit of a question mark but I have a bit of a feel about her.' It was a remarkable two-year-old season for Within The Law that could have ended in disaster. She won the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes before escaping serious injury when she went through the running rail and lost her rider in the Group 1 Golden Slipper. Within The Law was able to get back to the races to finish third in the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes and then came a close second to Nepotism in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes. 'She did a great job and is more of a raceday racehorse rather than a trackworker,' Baker said. 'From that point of view I think, she may be able to step up another level.' She won't be the only two-year-old stepping out on the morning with a plethora of youngsters lining up, including Skyhook, West Of Swindon, State Visit, Blitzburg, King Of Pop, Memo and North England. Baker also has last start Group 1 Sydney Cup winner Arapaho having his first trial over 1000m in a heat that also includes stablemate Perfumist. Group 1 performer Lindermann is among the Chris Waller-trained spring hopefuls set to step out while Canadian Group 1 winner Moira is in the same 900m heat. Waller will also saddle up his first trialist in the Godolphin royal blue with Commemorative in a 900m heat. Pinstriped on course for another memorable Memsie tilt

Don't miss out on the headlines from Horse Racing. Followed categories will be added to My News. The start will be the same but Enver Jusufovic wants a longer journey with stable star Pinstriped in his latest spring campaign. Pinstriped provided Jusufovic with his greatest high in racing when he won last year's Group 1 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield after a solid second in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes a fortnight earlier. Pinstriped beat a strong field fair and square in the Memsie Stakes but Jusufovic was keen for more attempts at Group 1 level with the exciting galloper this time in. Pinstriped has scored important victories at his last two second-up appearances in the spring. PUNT LIKE A PRO: Become a Racenet iQ member and get expert tips – with fully transparent return on investment statistics – from Racenet's team of professional punters at our Pro Tips section. SUBSCRIBE NOW! In 2023, he earned a Cox Plate ballot exemption when he defeated subsequent Group 1 winners Attrition and Deny Knowledge in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes at The Valley. 'History will show that he seems to go well in the spring at his first two runs and his form sort of tapers off a bit but I'm hoping this time in that I can get more than two decent runs,' Jusufovic said. READ: Beriman's appeal for concussion protocols to be strengthened 'He's due to win the PB Lawrence, I think, he's run second twice. 'There will be good horses in the Memsie Stakes, like there always is in Group 1 races, but it's a feather in his cap that he was able to beat the two highlight horses, Mr Brightside and Pride Of Jenni, and the new kid on the block Antino.' Cranbourne trainer Enver Jusufovic celebrating victory in the 2024 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield alongside jockey Ben Allen. Picture: Getty Images. The son of Street Boss ran in last year's Makybe Diva Stakes but pulled up with a problem before unplaced runs in the Cantala Stakes and Cranbourne Cup to round out 2024. 'He should be cherry ripe for the Memsie,' Jusufovic said. 'Hopefully he'll go to the Makybe Diva after that. 'Last year, I thought I had him right but he pulled a muscle or something after that. 'I think that was the end of his campaign.' READ: Big bets review: Bookies clean up as shorties go under Pinstriped had two unplaced autumn runs but Jusufovic quickly identified a back issue as the course of irritation for the rising seven-year-old. He said he abandoned Pinstriped's autumn campaign to give him ample time to spell before his latest preparation, which has moved into the jumpout phase. 'We identified that his back was playing up and it was hurting a bit,' Jusufovic said. 'For that reason, we pulled the pin and he was able to have a really good break. 'He's come back well. He'll have a jumpout on Monday at Cranbourne but we're happy with the way he's progressing. 'His back is great at the moment.'
