9.5 – Wiaan Mulder
Runs: 531, Ave: 265.5, HS: 367 not out, 2x100s & Wickets: 7, Ave: 15.28, BBI: 4/50
The undoubted Player of the Series, Mulder, had a dream Test series in Zimbabwe with both bat and ball where he led the inexperienced squad with distinction. The 27-year-old broke records as South Africa whitewashed Zimbabwe. 9 – Corbin Bosch
Runs: 136, Ave: 136, HS: 100 not out, 1x100 & Wickets: 10, Ave: 13.9, BBI: 5/43
Bosch, having last played Test cricket in the Boxing Day Test, impressed with both bat and ball, scoring his maiden century and taking his maiden five-wicket haul. 9 – Lhuan-dre Pretorius
Runs: 235, Ave: 78.3, HS: 153, 1x100, 1x50
South Africa's newest batting prodigy had a dream start to his Test career, scoring 153 on debut, the highest Test score by a debutant, and followed it up with a half-century in the second Test as he proved that he can hold his ground at the highest level. 7 – Codi Yusuf
Wickets: 10, Ave: 12.20, BBI: 3/22
Like Dale Steyn alluded to on social media, Yusuf's national call-up was well deserved, and the quick proved it, taking 10 wickets in the series as he became the joint leading wicket-taker in the series.
6 – David Bedingham
Runs: 117, Ave: 39, HS: 82, 1x50
Having gone under the radar in the first Test, Bedingham came out guns blazing in the second Test, scoring a half-century in the first innings and built a big partnership with Mulder to help set up South Africa's innings victory in the second Test. 6 – Prenelan Subrayen
Wickets: 4, Ave: 19.5, BBI: 4/42
Subrayen certainly gave Conrad a lot to think about in the series as he took a four-wicket haul in the first innings. South Africa have two subcontinent tours later this year and he might have convinced Conrad that he is the man to operate alongside Maharaj. 5 – Kyle Verreynne
Runs: 88, Ave: 44, HS: 42 not out
Verreynne had a quiet series by his own standards. His unbeaten 42 in the second Test was his highlight of the tour and his glovework behind the stumps was as flawless as ever. 5 – Dewald Brevis
Runs: 84, Ave: 28, HS: 51, 1x50
On debut, Brevis had a solid start to his career, scoring a half-century in the first innings of the first Test as he showed glimpses of how his attacking game could fit into the full-strength Proteas Test squad.

Chelsea's Fifa Club World Cup triumph 'a big statement', but what might be the cost?
Captain Reece James and Joao Pedro celebrate Chelsea's Fifa Club World Championship final victory over Paris St Germain. Picture: AFP Image: AFP For Chelsea, victory in Sunday's Club World Cup decider completed a fine first season under Enzo Maresca, and also finally brought the curtain down on a marathon campaign that they must hope does not catch up with them down the line. The Cole Palmer-inspired 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at the MetLife Stadium outside New York was Chelsea's 64th game of a season which lasted 11 months. By any measure it was one of Chelsea's best ever campaigns, with their Club World Cup triumph -- placed on a par by Maresca to winning the Champions League -- following victory in the Uefa Conference League and a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League. Maresca, an ex-assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, could not have asked for much more after arriving off the back of leading Leicester City to promotion. "It has been a fantastic season but I am especially happy for the players," said the Italian, who has succeeded in putting together a coherent team out of the endless line of new signings being brought in by the club's owners. "We have said many times that talent alone is not enough. You need to find a way for them to all fit together." Video Player is loading. Next Stay Close ✕ It all represents considerable progress from just two years ago, when the Stamford Bridge side finished in the bottom half of the Premier League. Maresca incorporated more new faces during the Club World Cup, with Joao Pedro making a remarkable impact -- the Brazilian forward cut short a holiday to complete a £60 million ($79 million) transfer from Brighton and Hove Albion, and went on to score twice in the semi-final against Fluminense and once in the final. Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Andrey Santos all joined up ahead of the month in the United States, while Jamie Gittens has since arrived from Borussia Dortmund and fellow winger Estevao Willian now joins from Palmeiras in Brazil. Chelsea will hope those signings, added to a squad led by the likes of Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, can make a real push for the Premier League title off the back of their impressive triumph at Fifa 's new tournament. "It's a big statement," captain Reece James told English media shortly after lifting the trophy alongside US President Donald Trump. "I'm happy with how much the club has progressed and how next season you know we'll be competing in the Premier League, to win the title and compete, and to go far in the Champions League as well." Chelsea have also pocketed a stunning $115 million in prize money from the Club World Cup, but what if there comes a point in 2025/26 when their exploits of this season catch up with them? While Chelsea have been competing at the Club World Cup in draining weather conditions, Premier League champions Liverpool and runners-up Arsenal have enjoyed extended off-season breaks. Manchester City were also at the Club World Cup but they went out over a week earlier. Global players' union FIFPro has been the leading voices expressing concerns about the demands on the game's biggest stars in an ever-expanding calendar. One of the safeguards it proposed in a study published before the tournament was a mandatory four-week off-season break, along with four-week retraining periods before returning to competition. Chelsea's off-season is drastically reduced, with their first match of the next Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace slated for August 17, exactly five weeks after the Club World Cup final. They have a friendly against Bayer Leverkusen on August 8. "Tomorrow I have three weeks of holiday which is all I want right now because I have not stopped in 15 months," said Maresca on Sunday. It remains to be seen if Maresca and his players come back sufficiently refreshed before attacking a season in which they hope to go far in the Champions League, and which will end with the World Cup in North America. PSG face an even tighter squeeze after a historic campaign for Luis Enrique's team, capped by their triumph in the Champions League final. Their first competitive match of next season will be the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur in Italy on August 13, exactly one month after their defeat in New York -- a chance to win more silverware, but at what cost? - AFP

Preparations have been 'very positive'
'We are training hard to be ready for the upcoming season,' said the Chiefs winger. Glody Lilepo believes Kaizer Chiefs' pre-season in the Netherlands is going well. 'We played really well in our last game,' Lilepo told the Chiefs official website. 'So far we have focused a lot on physical training, having two sessions a day. The physical aspect always comes before the tactical and technical aspects of the game. That's typical pre-season.' 'The preparations in Holland have been very positive,' Lilepo added. Next step on a ‘long journey': Rubin Hermann delivers on Proteas debut
At the age of 28, Hermann shone in his first international match against Zimbabwe in Harare. Rubin Hermann, seen here during a domestic match, made 45 runs for the SA team in the opening match of the T20 tri-series against Zimbabwe. Picture: Dirk Kotze/Gallo Images Top-order batter Rubin Hermann believes his experience at domestic level has given him a strong foundation as he embarks on his international career, after playing a key role for the Proteas in their five-wicket victory over Zimbabwe on Monday. Playing his first international match at the age of 28, Hermann top-scored for the SA team, hitting 45 runs off 37 balls as they got their T20 tri-series campaign off to a winning start in Harare. Hermann has played top-flight domestic cricket for more than eight years, and though he admitted he had followed a long path to the top, he was pleased to stand up in his first game for the Proteas and he hoped to continue delivering for the national team. 'I don't see any tournament or innings I play now as pressure. Obviously there's expectation to perform, and it's more highlighted here (at international level) but my mindset doesn't change against any opposition,' Hermann said. 'I've obviously had a longer journey than most, but I'm very thankful because it built certain characteristics in my game and maybe gave me some mental resilience that will stand me in good stead. 'This is the first step, but hopefully there are a couple more and I can have a decently long career playing for South Africa.' Rubin Hermann receives his first T20 International cap for South Africa! 🇿🇦🔥 From the domestic grind to the international spotlight, Rubin's journey has been one of hard work, grit, and relentless determination. 💪🏏 #WozaNawe — Proteas Men (@ProteasMenCSA) July 14, 2025 'I want to win games for South Africa' Though he shone alongside the likes of Dewald Brevis and George Linde in the tri-series opener, Hermann said he was a little disappointed that he fell five runs short of a half-century. And even more so that he didn't carry his team across the line. He fell in what turned out to be the penultimate over of South Africa's innings, with the Proteas just 12 runs shy of their target. 'That was effectively my role, just to be there at the end, so I'm disappointed I couldn't do that,' he said. 'Maybe I'm just nitpicking. Probably anyone would have taken that, but I want to be a guy who wins games for South Africa.' The Proteas will face New Zealand in their next match of the T20 International tri-series in Harare on Wednesday (1pm start).
