Hot and Dusty Weather Expected in Kuwait on Wednesday and Thursday

KUWAIT CITY, June 17: The Meteorology Department has forecast hot and dusty weather for Wednesday and Thursday, with conditions expected to remain relatively warm at night. Dust levels are anticipated to gradually decrease by evening. Acting Director of the department, Dharar Al-Ali, advised motorists—especially those driving on highways—to exercise caution due to the potential for sudden drops in visibility. He also warned beachgoers of high waves and urged individuals with asthma or allergies to wear protective masks when outdoors. Al-Ali encouraged the public to stay informed by regularly checking weather updates through the department's official website, mobile app, social media platforms, and the "Sahel" government services app.

Kuwait Faces Intense Heat as Temperatures Soar 51°C Across Several Areas

KUWAIT CITY, June 15: Kuwait experienced extreme heat on Saturday, with temperatures soaring to 51 degrees Celsius in Al-Rabiya, Al-Jahra, and Al-Abdali, while Kuwait International Airport recorded a high of 50 degrees Celsius, according to Acting Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali. Speaking to KUNA, Al-Ali explained that the severe heat wave is due to the country being affected by an extension of the Indian monsoon depression, accompanied by a very hot air mass. This weather pattern is expected to persist until Monday. He noted that the current conditions include light to moderate northwesterly winds, occasionally active, which may stir up dust — particularly in open areas. Weather maps and numerical models indicate that the country will continue to experience extremely hot daytime temperatures, and nighttime conditions will remain hot to very warm. Al-Ali forecast a slight drop in temperatures starting Tuesday, with highs expected to range between 46°C and 48°C. However, active northwesterly winds will likely continue to cause dust storms across parts of the country. The meteorological official emphasized the importance of taking precautions during this heatwave. He urged the public to avoid direct exposure to sunlight, especially during peak hours, stay hydrated by consuming adequate fluids, and use sun protection to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses. Citizens and residents are encouraged to stay updated by following official weather forecasts through the Meteorology Department's website, mobile app, social media accounts, and the government's 'Sahel' application.

Humidity in Kuwait to stay until Friday

KUWAIT CITY, June 10: Kuwait will continue to experience dusty conditions and high humidity through Friday morning, according to the Meteorology Department. Dharar Al-Ali, acting director of the Meteorology Department, said on Tuesday that the country is under the influence of a surface low-pressure system bringing hot, humid air and strong southeasterly winds exceeding 50 km/h. The winds are expected to persist until midnight, reducing visibility particularly in open areas and causing sea waves to rise above six feet. Tuesday's weather will remain hot and relatively humid during the day, with higher humidity levels along coastal areas overnight. Daytime highs are forecast between 39°C and 43°C, with lows ranging from 28°C to 30°C. Al-Ali urged the public to stay updated through the department's official platforms and the government's 'Sahel' app for the latest weather alerts and advisories. (KUNA)
