UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism holds meeting with Oman's Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion to strengthen bilateral ties in competition regulation and fair trade practices
During their meeting, both sides discussed mechanisms to monitor monopolistic behaviour in digital markets and the activation of legal enforcement tools aimed at fostering transparent and fair business environments. They underscored the importance of stimulating private sector investment and highlighted the vital role of technical knowledge-sharing and human capacity-building in reinforcing their respective position in regional and global competition policy forums.
The UAE side presented its regulatory framework governing competition in the digital economy, highlighting best practices in handling complaints related to eCommerce platforms, in accordance with Federal Decree‑Law No. 36 of 2023 regarding Regulating Competition.
Mohammed Sultan Janahi, Director of Competition at the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism, emphasised that reinforcing collaboration with Oman's Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion reflects the commitment of both countries to develop a fairly competitive trading environment by adopting global best legislations and criteria. He highlighted that the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in collaboration with its partners, has intensified efforts to build an integrated legislative ecosystem that promotes competition and enables fair business practices. Additionally, Mohammed Sultan Janahi expressed the Ministry's aspiration to expand coordination with Oman through joint studies and private sector awareness programs.
The Oman's Competition Protection and Monopoly Prevention Centre representative reaffirmed the importance of the partnership with the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism, underscoring its strategic value in leveraging UAE's experience in competition regulation and fair-trade practices as well as enhancing competition ecosystem at both the bilateral and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) levels.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to strengthen collaboration during the upcoming phase by developing an action plan, which includes organising technical workshops on the digital platform economy and facilitating data and expertise exchange to support cross-border studies and research.

Egypt PM inaugurates Real Estate Registry and Notarization Complex in New Alamein - Society
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, alongside other ministers, inaugurated the Real Estate Registry and Notarization Complex in New Alamein City on Thursday, launching an integration system between the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Housing in 16 urban community real estate registry offices in new cities. The new integration system links the Ministry of Justice's Real Estate Registry and Notarization Authority and the Ministry of Housing's New Urban Communities Authority. The real estate registry offices are responsible for registering all transactions issued by the New Urban Communities Authority regarding lands, buildings, and units within their jurisdiction, as defined by law. In a cabinet statement, PM Madbouly highlighted the recent development efforts in New Alamein City, where numerous projects are still underway. He stated that the newly launched services aim to bring about a tangible improvement in the quality of services provided in the area, in line with Egypt's development objectives for the northwest coast. He stressed that this reflects the state's comprehensive vision for developing this promising area to attract more investments. During his tour in the new complex, Minister of Justice Adnan El-Fangary briefed PM Madbouly on the facility's capabilities. He said the complex is equipped with modern electronic tools to ensure fast and accurate transaction processing. El-Fangary also detailed the workflow and procedures of the state's digital transformation system, particularly the one-stop shop model designed to ease procedures for citizens. The minister added that the Distinguished Notarization Branch in New Alamein City consists of three service windows, in addition to two digital service windows available via the Egypt Digital Platform. Consequently, the new urban community real estate registry office features five windows for receiving real estate registration requests for properties within the jurisdiction of New Alamein. This initiative, which is part of the integration system between the Real Estate Registry and Notarization Authority and the New Urban Communities Authority, is facilitated through the G2G (government-to-government) digital hub and supports Egypt's Vision 2030. The move will enable the retrieval of all text, digital, spatial, and licensing data related to land, properties, and units within these communities, as per Law No. 177 of 2022, which regulates real estate registration in new urban communities. For his part, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat emphasized that the opening of the complex is part of ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Justice to digitize various services. It also aligns with broader efforts to implement the Digital Egypt initiative nationwide, he stressed. Talaat clarified that the partnership aims to modernize and streamline services through technology, reducing burdens on citizens. He further explained that the Ministry of Communications is responsible for providing the digital infrastructure, overseeing technical and engineering support, and training staff to ensure the success of the national Digital Egypt project. Egypt, ATON Resources Sign Preliminary Agreement to Amend Abu Marawat Concession Terms
Ahmed Emam On the sidelines of the Egypt Mining Forum 2025, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi witnessed the signing of a preliminary agreement to study the amendment of the Abu Marawat concession agreement. The proposed amendments aim to allow ATON Resources Inc. to increase its foreign investment in the concession areas, thereby enhancing returns for the Egyptian state. The concession, originally issued under Law No. 96 of 2007, is located in Egypt's Eastern Desert and is considered a promising site for gold and mineral exploration. The agreement is a direct result of the Letter of Intent previously signed in London between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and ATON Resources Inc. (formerly Alexander Nubia) during the Egypt-UK Business Day. Signing the agreement were Yasser Ramadan, Chairman of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA), Dr. Mohamed El-Bagoury, Head of the Central Legal Affairs Department, and Tonno Vahk, CEO of ATON Resources Inc. Minister of Petroleum discusses mining cooperation with Saudi Arabia
Karem Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a meeting with Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer, Saudi Arabia's Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs, and his accompanying delegation, to explore avenues for cooperation between the two countries in the mining sector and to promote sustainable development that serves their shared economic interests. During the meeting, Badawi reviewed recent steps to advance Egypt's mining sector, underlining the Ministry's efforts to create an attractive investment environment built on clear legislation and a competitive climate. He highlighted several strategic projects, foremost among them the phosphoric acid project, which reflects Egypt's commitment to maximising value added from its mineral resources. The Minister also praised Saudi Arabia's organisation of the International Mining Conference, expressing interest in learning from the Kingdom's successful experience in mining sector development. He pointed to the promising potential of southern Egypt, where preparations are underway to conduct seismic surveys to identify new exploration and investment opportunities. For his part, Khalid Al-Mudaifer expressed his pleasure at attending the Egypt Mining Forum, commending the strong turnout and the high level of engagement from industry stakeholders. He emphasised the significant shared potential between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in the mining field, noting that the geographical proximity of the two countries creates opportunities for greater integration and collaboration with international partners. Al-Mudaifer further praised Egypt's serious efforts to develop its mining sector, highlighting the Red Sea region as a promising destination capable of attracting global investment and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
