Ohio State football receiver Jeremiah Smith's rating revealed in 'College Football 26'

USA Today4 days ago

Ohio State superstar receiver Jeremiah Smith is going to be ranked as an overall 99 ranked player in EA Sports' popular "College Football 26" franchise, the game's first 99 ranked player since EA Sports brought the college football game back last season.
Smith is highly regarded as the best player in college football this coming season by many after introducing himself to the world as a superstar freshman last year. He hauled in 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns, helping OSU to a run towards the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. The rating was revealed in the Dynasty & Team Builder Deep Dive.
Smith was recently revealed to be on the cover of the game along with Alabama receiver Ryan Williams. The game comes out for everyone on July 10. Mark your calendars now.
It's going to be a lot of fun watching Smith do his thing this year and see how he continues to develop over the next couple of years. It's crazy to think that he still has two years of college football left.

Boom! Ohio State gets commitment from four-star defensive lineman

110% COMMITTED! GO BUCKS! 🌰 Boom! Ohio State has landed a verbal pledge from coveted defensive lineman Damari Simeon. The commitment came early in the weekend as the Buckeyes beat out Michigan, Penn State, and Texas to land his services. Simeon was somewhat of a late bloomer in terms of recruiting. He did not have a composite ranking as of February when Larry Johnson first offered the young man, but shot up the recruiting boards in recent months. By the time summer rolled around, Simeon had offers from many of the big boys, including Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and more. Simeon is a four-star prospect from New Jersey and is the No. 26-ranked defensive lineman in the country according to 247Sports composite rankings. Simeon is the 18th overall commit in the class and becomes the second defensive lineman in the class, joining Khary Wilder. Ohio State currently sits at No. 5 in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

UFC 317 video: Jacobe Smith taps Niko Price as historic betting favorite

Jacobe Smith remains undefeated with his submission win at #UFC317 😤Watch #UFC317 TONIGHT at 10 PM ET on ESPN+ PPV ➡️ Jacobe Smith was touted as the biggest betting favorite in UFC history against Niko Price at UFC 317 on Saturday, and though he had some struggles, he came through. Just prior to the welterweight bout beginning at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the broadcast announced that -2500 betting favorite Smith (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) had set a new record for odds against longtime octagon veteran Price (16-9 MMA, 8-9 UFC). Smith had Price in danger with punches, a big takedown and ground strikes, but he survived the round. It spilled into the second, where Smith eventually took the back and locked in a rear-naked choke for the submission at the 4:03 mark. Check out the replay of Smith's victory below (via X): Smith was nothing short of thrilled in his post-fight interview, but brushed off any talk about the historic odds. "It's a different ball game in the training room. Getting out here with all these people (is much harder)," Smith said in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. "I knew that's how it was going to happen." Up-to-the-minute UFC 317 results:

Bills' Josh Allen Influencing Longhorns' Arch Manning

Bills' Josh Allen Influencing Longhorns' Arch Manning originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Arch Manning has a lot of people he can turn to when seeking advice about the quarterback position. As he enters his first season as the full-time starter at the University of Texas, the former five-star recruit has mentioned that he stays very close with uncles Peyton and Eli and grandfather Archie. Advertisement This summer at the annual Manning Passing Academy camp - in which Arch and his relatives are volunteer counselors - the youngest Manning mentioned that he studies other star quarterbacks around the NFL to improve his game, too. 'I'm watching a lot of Josh Allen and Joe Burrow right now. Those are my guys,' Manning said. 'They're dogs. I've watched some of their college film. They're just good players, elite competitors and fun to watch.' Manning, unlike his uncles, profiles as a physical runner in along with his excellent arm talent. He can find a lot of inspiration from Allen in that regard. The Buffalo Bills' star may not be the fastest QB in the league, but he always plays with his head down and isn't afraid to crash into would-be tackers in order to get extra yardage on the ground. Advertisement There are a lot of expectations on the young quarterback with three NFL greats coming from the Manning lineage, but Arch has seemed to approach this position with rare poise and maturity for his age and situation. Manning redshirted his freshman season at Texas in 2023 and continued to sit behind eventual seventh-rounder Quinn Ewers last season. When Ewers was hurt during a non-conference stretch, Manning was able to play and show off some of that versatility. His most memorable highlight came on a misdirection run where Arch found a lane and stepped on the gas to blow by the defense for a 67-yard touchdown against UTSA. He also proved invaluable during Texas' regular season finale win over rival Texas A&M. Manning subbed in for a designed run where he showed great balance to stay in bounds and reach for the endzone for the first touchdown of the game. Manning spoke about how he tries to emulate the way Allen can make plays with his legs, especially during broken plays where he has to scramble out of trouble. Advertisement 'He's just the ultimate football player. If something's not there he's going to make something happen and do whatever he can to make his team win,' Manning said. In 2024, Allen was fifth among quarterbacks with 531 rushing yards and second in rushing touchdowns with 12. He has over 4,000 rushing yards and 65 touchdowns in his seven-year career in Buffalo. Manning leads the Longhorns with more than just the weight of his family's name on his shoulders. He is expected to guide Texas to another deep run in the College Football Playoff after Ewers appeared in the last two CFP semifinals before entering the NFL Draft. Whether it's in 2026 or 2027, Manning is expected to be one of the first quarterbacks taken in Round 1. Advertisement For now, he'll rely on the heroics of the MVP to help him improve his game in college before the two ultimately meet in the NFL one day.
