KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 (Bernama) -- Both national men's doubles pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and national women's pair Pearly Tan-M Thinaah made it through to the semi-finals of the Indonesian Open today.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun had no trouble beating Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty 21-19, 21-16 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta while Pearly Tan-M Thinaah beat Japanese pair Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi 21-6, 21-18.
Wei Chong shared that his victory came from fully focusing on the gameplay and strategy outlined by their coach.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, in conjunction with the sixth edition of the 'Rakan Muda Turun Kampus' 2025 programme at UPNM, Kem Perdana Sungai Besi, here. The collaboration focuses on developing work-based learning (WBL) academic programmes to enhance competitiveness and improve the employability of athletes and coaches through the recognition of their skills, experience, and expertise. bootstrap slideshow This initiative also includes mapping career pathways with existing academic curricula. According to Hannah, the collaboration is in line with the Youth and Sports Ministry's (KBS) efforts to empower the national sports development ecosystem holistically, including the education aspect. 'We want to empower students who want to pursue sports, while also helping athletes continue their studies and build a career after retiring from sports,' she told reporters after the event. Also present were UPNM vice-chancellor Lt Gen Datuk Arman Rumaizi Ahmad and NSC director-general Jefri Ngadirin.

Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani defeated Japan's Hiroki Midorikawa-Kyohei Yamashita, 21-19, 21-18 in a match that lasted 38 minutes. However, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun were made to slog for 65 minutes to overcome China's Huang Di-Liu Yang in three games – 21-19, 14-21, 22-20. With these wins, six Malaysian men's and mixed doubles pairs have so far made it to the quarter-finals of the lucrative World Tour Super 750 championships being played at the Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo.
