Page sequencing error: SC directs manual evaluation of NEET-UG aspirant's answer script

New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the manual evaluation of the answer script of a NEET-UG 2025 aspirant, who alleged erroneous page sequencing in his question paper. Page sequencing error: SC directs manual evaluation of NEET-UG aspirant's answer script A bench of Justices B V Nagarathna and K V Viswanathan ordered the result of evaluation to be placed on record. "He will have the satisfaction of getting his papers manually checked," the bench said. The aspirant said claimed wrong sequencing of pages in the NEET-UG question paper. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency for admissions to MBBS, BDS and AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country. Additional Solicitor General Archana Pathak Dave, appearing for the respondents, put of a copy of the question paper on record to explain that the mistake arose due to incorrect stapling. "However, in order to satisfy ourselves, we direct that the petitioner's paper shall be evaluated manually and the result of the evaluation be placed on the record. The said exercise shall be carried out within a period of one week," the bench said. Dave said stapling of question paper was a manual exercise. "The least that could be done is to give the questions in seriatim," the bench said. It added, "Look at the panic of the candidate. It is not an ordinary exam." The law officer said only semi-skilled or semi-literate people were employed for the stapling work. "If we give it to a literate person and if he staples it, we know for sure that one or two questions he can memorise and they can go out," she said, calling it a "rarest of rare" instance. The bench, however, remarked that "17-18 year old" students were dying by suicide. "Please don't try to justify," the top court said and posted the hearing for August 12. NEET PG 2025 Results Likely By September 3, Over 2.4 Lakh Candidates Appeared

Last Updated: NEET PG 2025 was held on August 3 in a single shift for over 2.42 lakh candidates across 301 cities. NEET PG results are expected by September 3 at The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) successfully conducted the NEET PG 2025 examination on August 3 in a single shift across 1,052 test centres in 301 cities. Over 2.42 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the exam, making it the largest computer-based test in India to be held in a single shift, according to a press release issued by NBEMS. Originally scheduled for June 15 in two shifts, the exam faced strong objections from aspirants over concerns of unfair evaluation due to the multiple-shift format. The matter reached the Supreme Court, which on May 30 directed NBEMS to conduct the exam in a single shift, while allowing it to retain the June 15 date. However, NBEMS later sought additional time for logistical arrangements, leading to the exam being postponed to August 3. With the exam now completed, NEET PG 2025 results are expected to be declared around September 3. As per the official information bulletin, NBEMS typically takes about a month to release results. In 2023, the results were declared 12 days after the exam. Once announced, candidates will be able to download their scorecards from the official website at using their login credentials. The scorecards will be available for six months from the date of result declaration, after which no requests will be entertained. In the wake of recent controversies surrounding competitive exams, NBEMS implemented several security and surveillance measures to ensure transparency and fairness. More than 2,200 faculty members from medical colleges and NBEMS-accredited hospitals were deployed to monitor the conduct of the examination and report any irregularities. The board also worked in coordination with the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, to prevent cyber fraud and malpractices. Nearly 300 cyber commandos were stationed at sensitive test centres, while over 200 personnel at the NBEMS headquarters continuously monitored live CCTV feeds from all venues. Senior medical faculty, deans, and members of the NBEMS Governing Body also participated in surprise inspections as part of flying squads. Tie-Breaking Criteria For NEET PG 2025 In case two or more candidates secure the same score, NBEMS will follow a four-step tie-breaking process: The NEET PG 2025 is a gateway for postgraduate medical admissions across India and is conducted for candidates holding MBBS degrees and seeking entry into MD/MS and PG Diploma programmes. view comments Location : New Delhi, India, India First Published: August 04, 2025, 16:17 IST News education-career NEET PG 2025 Results Likely By September 3, Over 2.4 Lakh Candidates Appeared Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
