A social media influencer who gained a following sharing his picturesque Gulf Coast lifestyle with his wife online has been sentenced to five years behind bars for child pornography.
Georgia native Joshua David Stapleton, 39, received a 20-year sentence, with five years served in jail and another 15 years on probation after pleading guilty to 20 counts of sexual exploitation of children, according to court documents obtained by Fox 5 Atlanta.
Stapleton and his wife run the 'Gulf Coast Stapletons' social media account, which has racked up more than 86,000 followers and over a million likes on TikTok and Instagram.

He was initially charged with 15 counts of child porn possession, but was later indicted on 40 counts of sexual exploitation of children. He entered a non-negotiable plea deal in which he pleaded guilty to just 20 counts.
The 'Gulf Coast Stapletons' lifestyle content features the couple working out, eating food and going on vacations.
Just last week they posted several videos from their trip to Orange Beach, Alabama.
Stapleton's wife, Brittani Morris Stapleton, has been attempting to correct what she's called 'misinformation' online about her husband after news of his case spread.
The pair were married in 2023 after he'd been charged.
'Josh was absolutely up front with me about everything in the charges, there were no secrets,' she said in a recent TikTok post.

She also pushed back on accusations that the pair were projecting 'fake lives' on their social media accounts.
'There's nothing fake about it. It was our lives, we are still happy, he and I have no issues,' Brittani posted.
Stapleton is currently being held in the Bartow County Sheriff's Office Jail.

Man accused of facilitating terrorism used quarry outside Quebec City for target practice

One of the men accused of creating an anti-government militia appears to have used a commercial sand quarry in the Quebec City area as a makeshift firing range. CBC's visual investigations unit has geolocated images posted to Raphaël Lagacé's Facebook pages where he poses with multiple high-calibre sniper rifles. The images were taken at a quarry in Saint-Joachim, Que. The quarry is owned by Les Entreprises LT Ltée/Béton Lagacé. It overlooks the St-Lawrence River and is just south of Mont-Sainte-Anne, a ski resort. In photos, Lagacé appears at the quarry with numerous rifles. Excavation equipment is visible in the background of some of the photos. Lagacé wears ear protection and lies prone, with his hands wrapped around the rifles, aiming at a target off-camera. In the photos and other videos that CBC News has verified as being filmed at the quarry complex, it is not clear if Lagacé is firing the weapons, but there are boxes of ammunition positioned near the weapons. In posts on his Instagram account, Lagacé said he was training for an "extreme long-range" shooting competition. In another video posted to Lagacé's Facebook in 2013, he does fire at a target located in a sandpit. CBC News was unable to verify if that video was taken at the same quarry. The force of the gunshot shakes the camera, and a man uses an expletive off-camera when the gun is fired. CBC does not know the context in which these photos and videos were filmed. Lagacé has been charged with facilitating terrorist activity. The RCMP allege he and three other men hoarded weapons, engaged in military-style training and intended to forcibly take possession of land in the Quebec City area. An RCMP news release issued Tuesday included a photograph showing a group of men engaged in "military-style training" that was taken in a quarry. CBC News was unable to confirm if the quarry in the RCMP photo was located at the Les Entreprises LT Ltée/Béton Lagacé location, but the company's sand quarry site is extensive. Les Entreprises LT Ltée/Béton Lagacé declined requests for comment and declined to answer questions, including whether there is a familial connection between the company and Lagacé. A woman who answered the phone at Les Entreprises LT Ltée/Béton Lagacé said "no comment would be made. No response to any question." Yannick Lagacé, one of the shareholders of Béton Lagacé, said he would not comment. Here is how we found the exact location of Lagacé's social media posts: First, CBC reporters found, and confirmed, his social media profiles. Then, a scan of his Facebook feed revealed multiple images featuring LT Ltée/Béton Lagacé trucks and machinery. A search of the company's website revealed that they operated multiple quarries in the Quebec City area. We tried to see if any of these quarries matched the locations where Lagacé appeared to be handling his weapons. We knew from the photographs that we were looking for a sandy area and, in some photographs, background hills and a river were visible. One of the company's quarries was located on a hill, advertised on their website as having a vantage point over the north shore of the St-Lawrence River. Using Google Earth and satellite imagery, we scanned the quarry and matched the terrain features to the features behind Lagacé. Then, in another video posted to Lagacé's Facebook, we see a man handling a rifle. Again, we see features that seem to indicate a quarry. This time, the video is taken from a different angle, and, in the background, we see Mont-Sainte-Anne, the ski resort. Again, using Google Earth, we matched that same angle of the ski hill to the quarry. The four men appeared in court virtually on Tuesday and remain in custody. Their next court date is July 14.

‘You know I'm a kid right?': Man imprisoned after luring GTA teens on Instagram with drugs, money

A young man who promised girls, as young as 14, weed, vapes, acid and money in return for sexual favours on social media — some while he was on bail for the same type offences — has been sentenced. Hesham Mahbub, 23, was handed five years and three months after admitting to a laundry list of offences, including child luring and death threats, among others, against vulnerable teenagers. In some cases, he followed through and sexually assaulted the girls. When he didn't get what he wanted from the females, he made threats to their lives, in one case resulting in an Aurora high school going into lockdown, involving threats against a girl and images of a gun being posted to social media, according to court documents On March 23, 2022, he contacted a 14-year-old girl on Instagram and asked if she wanted to do acid with him. When she replied she was 'grounded', he persisted, offering her $50 for oral sex, to which she replied 'stop.' Then he offered $100 and she didn't respond. He kept asking and, according to court documents, the girl at one point responded: 'You know I'm a kid, right? Ur just a horny 19-year-old boy who can't get girls his own age, so he preys on kids with addictions.' Months later, when they continued to communicate, now on Snapchat, the girl eventually promised to meet, agreeing to perform oral sex on Mahbub in return for a vape pen. She grew nervous upon meeting Mahbub and refused to enter his vehicle. Following this incident, he was charged and then granted bail under conditions to stay away from children. On March 23, 2023, he began communicating with one teen who originally told Mahbub she was 16, but later admitted she was 15. Mahbub picked her up at her Aurora high school and drove to a secluded area where the pair made out and took a picture of his hand on her breast. During this time, Mahbub was on conditions not to speak to or be in the presence of anyone under 16. Mahbub wanted to go further, but the girl refused, court documents reveal. He would proceed to send death threats and photographs of him holding a gun, which was in fact a BB gun, and also a photo of a hand holding a bullet stating it had one of the girls' names on it. His actions prompted the school to go into lockdown. The judge said Mahbub's behaviour struck at the core of Canadians' beliefs. 'He threatened to shoot a child,' Justice Amit Ghosh told the court. 'The photographs he sent of the handgun and bullet support that he was able to carry out his threat. Such threats strike at the heart of Canadian values and jar and disrupt our collective sense of safety and security in schools.' He also pointed out how, while kissing and touching the breast of the 15-year-old may not fall at the serious end of the spectrum, he 'reminded himself' how detrimental it might have been to the youth. 'Any sexual contact with a child is both inherently violent and harmful,' he added. 'The degree of intrusion does not necessarily correlate to the degree of harm to the child.' While there were many aggravating circumstances, including the age of one victim (14), Mahbub's persistence, that he attempted to procure a child for sexual service and his behaviour with other minors while on bail, the judge also mentioned some of the mitigating factors, including Mahbub's guilty plea, the fact he was sexually assaulted as a child, he's been gainfully employed at a pizzeria and was enrolled in university. His lawyer, Nader Fakih, said he also lost his father at a young age and he was sexually assaulted during much of his youth by educational tutors. 'He's a lot more than these charges as a human being … clients can be painted as the sum of their worst actions,' he told Metroland, 'but it's a lot more complicated than that. He loves his mother, for example, his face lights up when he sees her, that's the human element I saw that readers would not see.' In all, Mahbub received three years for child luring, 18 months for sexual assault, nine months for uttering threats, all consecutive, and three months for failure to comply, concurrent. He will also receive a DNA order, weapons prohibition, be added to the sexual registry for 20 years and banned from public parks, working with children under 16 and is not to access social media sites including Twitter, Tinder, Bumble, Snapchat and Instagram.
