William pays tribute to rangers protecting snow leopards in wildlife series
William's comments are made in an on-screen introduction for the latest episode of his new wildlife documentary series, Guardians, highlighting the work of rangers across the globe.
The future king says: 'Snow leopards are such beautiful creatures, known as the Ghosts of the Himalayas, and just having sight of one is so rare that it feels incredibly special.
'These elusive, big cats may be rarely seen, but they share a deep connection with local people, and as the snow leopards' natural food sources have become scarce, they have ventured closer to human settlements in search of prey, killing livestock and leading to conflicts with local communities.
'In this episode, we meet Kalzang — a ranger bridging the space between tradition and progress.
'His work protects these animals, powers scientific discovery, and helps turn fear into understanding – while guiding a new generation towards sustainable coexistence.'
Veteran broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough is William's 'inspiration' for the six-part series he hopes will help nature's wardens be 'valued, respected, seen' and promote the 'wonderful' regions they protect.
Ranger Kalzang Gurmet and his team working in the Indian Himalayas are featured in the episode called the Guardians of the Spiti Valley and seen trekking in the mountains.
Mr Gurmet, field manager for Nature Conservation Foundation, said: 'In the context of conserving wild animals, it's said in our stories that wild animals are the jewel of the forest.
'So, for this reason, conservationists are essential. Ultimately, it will benefit us and our region.'

Jennie's comments come after news that Prince Harry will 'never be forgiven' by two major royals despite reconciliation hope. The royal expert told the Mirror that despite the joyous news of the baby girl's birth, the Duke and Duchess could be caught in the middle of the warring brothers if they are considering either prince for a role as godfather. Jennie said: 'As with a marriage break-up, many of William and Harry's friends have been left feeling obliged to take sides. Hugh was good friends with both William and Harry but, since the brothers' dramatic rift, the Duke Of Westminster has had to navigate a tricky path. 'And it seems he has largely sided with William, (at least in public). It was William who was invited to the big wedding, he was an usher, and William who stood alongside Hugh and his new wife Olivia cheering on Aston Villa in their exciting Champions League quarter final." Given the Duke's long history with William, Jennie believes: 'If there is to be a royal godfather to the couple's newborn daughter, the likelihood is that it will be William. There's already lots of 'cross pollination' between the families as far as godparents are concerned, so it seems likely that William will be asked.' While Harry is likely to be upset if William is chosen to the be the baby's godfather over him, Jennie said the decision would've been made easier by the Grosvenors due to Harry's current, and possibly ongoing, situation with the Firm. Jennie said: 'These awkward decisions are made slightly easier by the fact that Harry lives so far away, with no prospect of ever moving back to the UK. And that's not the ideal way to carry out any godparenting duties. 'So I think Harry will understand if he is left out and William is chosen as godfather. But it must still be rather sad for him to see his once close friends carrying on their lives without him, while William continues to enjoy the warmth and fun of their friendship. It is, however, the price he has to pay for making such damaging allegations and causing such a bitter rift with his family.' The Duke and Duchess of Westminster welcomed their baby daughter last week, announcing that the little girl's name is Cosima Florence Grosvenor. After revealing they were expecting their first child back in March, the couple announced the birth of their first child in a statement, saying the baby was born in London, adding: "Both the Duchess and Cosima are doing well. The Duke and Duchess now look forward to spending this special time together as a family." Cosima is of Greek and Italian origin. The name carries a beautiful, elegant meaning and is derived from the Greek word kosmos (κόσμος), which means order, harmony, or the universe.

There has been speculation that the Prince and Princess of Wales might want to leave their Adelaide Cottage home for a larger property - but Jennie Bond has ruled out one potential new home The Prince and Princess of Wales appear to have set up a relaxed home life with their children at their cosy Windsor cottage. But with their three children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - getting older and William in particular being handed more royal responsibilities, could a house move be on the cards? It has been suggested that in time, the Wales family might want to upsize from Adelaide Cottage to something a bit bigger - with the historic Fort Belvedere being one of the mooted properties. It comes after reports Prince William was 'human shield' in tense moment between Kate Middleton and Meghan. However, according to royal expert Jennie Bond, if a move in the future is on the cards for the family it will all come down to one thing - what is best for their children. The former BBC royal correspondent told the Mirror: "Well, the first thing that has to be said is that this is just a rumour. William and Catherine have been so set on giving their children a more 'normal' upbringing than royal youngsters before them that it's hard to imagine them wanting to move to what is, in effect, a castle — albeit it a relatively small one. "However, it may well be that they feel they are outgrowing Adelaide Cottage - four bedrooms for a family of five doesn't leave much room for visiting relatives or friends, or for kids' sleepovers. "Whatever they decide, William and Catherine will have their children's happiness at heart. For them, preserving a relaxed, cosy family life - as close to some sort of normality as possible given their status - is a top priority." When it comes to Fort Belvedere, it is a a stunning gothic revival mansion in Windsor Great Park, built in the 18th century, and was the preferred home of Edward Vlll before he abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson. It was renovated by Edward who put in a swimming pool, tennis court and stables and it is a huge property which has a long path to the entrance and even has a moat running around it. And Jennie added: "Fort Belvedere — where Edward VIII signed his abdication papers — would certainly be a step up in terms of grandeur. With up to eight bedrooms, acres of garden, a lake, a swimming pool, tennis courts and a polo stud its appeal is obvious. Charlotte and Catherine love playing tennis, and the whole family would enjoy the outdoor pool. "Although it's still pretty Gothic looking, the Fort was elegantly renovated by its private tenants — the late Galen Weston, a Canadian billionaire, and his wife Hilary. They were great friends of the royal family. "There are also about three cottages in the grounds, which could be useful for staff or protection officers." Although an imminent house move is not believed to be in the offing, another royal home the Waleses have also been linked to for a future move is Royal Lodge. The house is currently occupied by Prince Andrew, although it is reported the King would prefer him to give it up in favour of the smaller Frogmore Cottage - a former home of Prince Harry and Meghan. With its 30 rooms, Royal Lodge would certainly provide William, Kate and their children with more space than their current home. But Jennie warned: "There's been much talk of the Wales's wanting to move to Royal Lodge, but that is already a cause of bad blood within the family as Prince Andrew refuses to budge. Fort Belvedere could be an inspired alternative which would be less provocative than taking over Andrew's home."

Prince William's unexpected response after Oscar-winning actress's cheeky request
When one Oscar-winning actress was awarded her damehood at Buckingham Palace, her bold request of Prince William left the royal bashful and laughing Iconic British actress Emma Thompson has had several memorable encounters with Prince William over the years, including being asked to be a presenter at the first annual Earthshot Prize Awards, and a hilarious video call between the unlikely pals. But arguably the most unforgettable moment they shared happened in 2018, when Thompson was invited to Buckingham Palace to receive her damehood for her outstanding contribution to the arts and entertainment. Reflecting on the moment while on the press tour for her 2021 film Cruella, she revealed that she cheekily asked William for a kiss. Speaking via a video link, Ms Thompson joked about her unique request to Prince William, who has a knack for forging friendships with A-list film stars, as he handed over her award. She explained: "Prince William was absolutely fantastic. I wrote him a fan letter afterwards. His face and body language, so kind and generous to every single person. I've known him since he was little really. I've always liked him. "I couldn't believe how tall he'd got. I did say, 'I suppose I better not kiss you' and he said, 'Probably better not.' I asked him about him and he said, 'Will you please stop talking about me, it's about you.' What a nice man." Both William and Princess Kate had another memorable moment with the actress several years ago, as the Waleses spoke with Emma Thompson and her Cruella co-star Emma Stone in a video call. The group discussed plans to host NHS Charities Together and NHS staff at a unique drive-in cinema screening of the new film at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and got side-tracked as they joked about behind the scenes secrets. Speaking to the couple ahead of the screening, Thompson said: "Wait till you see the clothes, it's unbelievable." Then, gesturing to Kate, the actress said "you're going to want all of Emily's [Emma Stone's] clothes, they're so amazing. Obviously you won't be able to wear them in public but they're so brilliant." Thompson - who played the role of The Baroness in the film - also shared an excellent story with the royal couple about the time she didn't want to wait in the traffic and decided to travel on the London Underground in her eccentric movie costume. She revealed: 'One day when we were shooting there was a demonstration on in London and our car couldn't get to where we were shooting in Covent Garden so I said we've got to get out and we've got to go by Tube. "I was in a wig and huge make-up, you'll see my eyelashes, I look like a llama. And we got on the Tube to go to Covent Garden and I thought it's going to be fine, it's 9 o'clock Sunday morning, there won't be anyone on the train. It was rammed, rammed and no-one took the slightest bit of notice, they all clearly thought I was a drag act on the way home!" Kate then asked the pair whether or not Cruella was a fun film to shoot, with Emma Stone revealing: "It was so much fun, we were all over London, we were in front of Liberty. "They transformed Carnaby Street into 70s London which was amazing and then we were in front of Buckingham Palace at one point. I was riding a motorcycle around The Mall." Prince William joked that "we should have had you stopped, Emma, that's very dangerous!"
