The Mets made a series of roster moves before the series began on Tuesday, with Starling Marte being placed on the 10-day injured list with a right knee bone bruise while Jesse Winker was activated from the IL. The Mets have added right-handed pitcher Alex Carrillo to the roster while designating Zach Pop for assignment.
As the Mets look to get their six-game road trip off on the right foot, they will turn to Clay Holmes to make the start on Tuesday. Holmes is 8-4 with a 2.99 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 17 starts. Last time out, the veteran righty allowed two earned runs in 5⅓ innings with one strikeout in a no-decision against the Brewers.
For the Orioles, rookie right-hander Brandon Young will be making his fifth start. He has yet to secure a major-league win, going 0-3 with 13 earned runs allowed in 16⅔ innings.
