Brunei to open tender invitation for premium vehicle number series from June 14 to June 27
Participation in the tender will be opened through the NomborKu website, www.nomborku.gov.bn. The list of VRN series available include KH, BU, BAA, BAB, BAC, BAE, BAF, BAG, BAH, BAJ, BAK, BAL, BAM, BAN, BAP, BAQ, BAS, BAT, BAU, BAV, BAW, BAX, BAY, BAZ, BBA, BBB, BBC and BBD.
For single digit VRNs, the minimum bid price is BND5,000, with a BND1,000 participation fee and a BND25 non-refundable service charge.
Meanwhile, for double digit VRNs, the minimum bid price is BND2,500, with a BND500 participation fee and a BND25 non-refundable service charge.
JPD said the reimbursement for the bid participation fee for unsuccessful bidders will take 30 working days after the department receives the reimbursement application.
Payment of the participation fee and the non-refundable service charge for each single and double digit VRN bid can be made online where the bidder must have an active email address and a valid payment card (debit or credit card).
Cash payment at counters are also accepted, where the bidder must have an active email address. Payments can also be made at a JPD service counter (excluding JPD Training and Driving Test Circuit Complex Sungai Akar) to obtain a voucher code and access the NomborKu website to complete the bid participation. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN

MCMC probing offensive post on royal institution

GOF Seizes Cannabis Flowers Worth RM690,000 In Padang Besar
KANGAR, July 21 (Bernama) -- The General Operations Force (GOF) seized 23 kilogrammes (kg) of cannabis flowers believed to be smuggled into the country with an estimated value of RM690,000 at the Malaysia-Thailand border area in Padang Besar at 5 am today. GOF North Brigade Commander SAC Shahrum Hashim said the seizure was made by a GOF team who managed to detect movement based on infromation gleaned from closed circuit television camera (CCTV) footage. "Checks of the surrounding areas led to the discovery of a colourful sack containing dried leaves believed to be cannabis flowers,' he said in a statement today, adding that the sack was handed over to the Padang Besar district police headquarters narcotics crime investigation department for further investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

35 arrested in major anti-drug operation in Brunei
Drug items that were picked during the special operation by Brunei police. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The Narcotics Control Bureau (BKN) arrested 35 individuals and smashed a major drug syndicate during 'Operasi Tokek', a large-scale anti-drug operation conducted from June 29 to July 14. The arrests, comprising 25 local citizens, nine permanent residents, and one foreign national aged between 17 and 59, were made in various locations across the Brunei-Muara and Belait districts, with the majority taking place at Jalan Nenas Sanggol, Kampong Katok. The operation uncovered 38.67 grammes of syabu (methamphetamine), 9.2 grammes of Ganja, and smaller amounts of ecstasy and Erimin 5 pills. Investigations revealed the syndicate was allegedly orchestrated by a 27-year-old local man, who employed several individuals, including minors, for drug smuggling and distribution. One family was also found to be involved, with each member playing a different role. Authorities also discovered that some members had been misusing their monthly welfare assistance to fund their drug trafficking activities. As part of the operation, two suspects were apprehended at the Sungai Tujoh Control Post in the Belait District while attempting to smuggle drugs into the country. They are being investigated under Section 5 of the Misuse of Drugs Act for importing controlled substances. Four other individuals are under investigation under Section 3A of the same act for possession of drugs with the intent to distribute. The BKN stated that the operation reflects its ongoing efforts to eradicate criminal activity in the Jalan Nenas Sanggol area. The bureau reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its crackdown on drug-related crimes to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
