Cop held for filming women in hospital toilets
Listen to article A serving police head constable of the Punjab Police, who was allegedly caught filming inappropriate images of women in the toilets-cum-restroom of the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Gujar Khan of Rawalpindi district, has been formally arrested and booked in a case. A citizen intervened, caught the suspect on the spot, and handed him over to the police along with his mobile phone. According to police sources, a case has been formally registered, and an investigation is currently underway. The suspect has been identified as a police official affiliated with the Training Wing in Lahore. The First Information Report (FIR), filed by a citizen named Bilal Hussain, states that he had visited the hospital for medical treatment when he observed a man capturing images of women inside the restroom. The same individual was also reportedly seen photographing women elsewhere within the hospital premises. It allegedly contained inappropriate photographs of women. The suspect was then detained by Bilal and handed over to the authorities. Police officials confirmed that the accused was dressed in civilian clothing at the time of the incident. A case has been registered under Sections 354, 292, and 509 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), and further investigation is in progress. Saddar SP Nabeel Khokhar confirmed that the accused is indeed a member of the Lahore Police's Training Wing. According to THQ Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Sarmad Kiyani, there are no cameras in the hospital's restrooms, and the only cameras in the hospital are in the corridors, not in the toilets. Listen to article In another incident of corporal punishment at a religious seminary, police in Swabi have arrested a madrassa teacher for allegedly beating a six-year-old boy for arriving late to class — just days after a child died in a similar case in Swat's Khwazakhela area, Express News reported on Thursday. According to police and local media reports, the incident took place in Chota Lahore tehsil of Swabi district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, where Qari Muhammad Sohail allegedly subjected a young student to severe corporal punishment. The child's father, Muhammad Asim, told police that his son, Muhammad Essa, was regularly attending religious classes at the seminary when he was beaten with a stick for being late. A case has been registered against the Qari under the Child Protection Act, and investigations are underway. Speaking to reporters, SDPO Nauman stressed the importance of community vigilance, urging parents and bystanders to immediately report any such incidents. 'Children are not just the responsibility of their families; they are the future of our society and must be protected,' he said. The incident follows closely on the heels of a tragic case in Swat, where 12-year-old Farhan died earlier this week after being subjected to hours of torture by his teachers at an unregistered madrassa in Swat. Authorities said that approximately 160 children enrolled at the seminary have been handed back to their families.
