ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority have issued prevention and safety guidelines for the Eid Al Adha holiday.The guidelines urge community members to adhere to precautionary measures during the celebrations in support of the continued protection of lives and property in the emirate.The prevention and safety guidelines call for members of the public to comply with traffic laws and reduce speed when driving, give right of way to emergency response vehicles, and avoid stunts and other reckless behaviour.The guidelines further advise the public to refrain from using or handling fireworks, to ensure that chargers, extension cables, and other electronic devices comply with safety standards, ensure that children do not play near main roads or cross the street without supervision, choose an open and safe barbecue site away from flammables, and extinguish charcoal or firewood well after finishing. In the event of and emergency, the public are to call 999 immediately.
Based on international best practices, the guidelines form part of the shared efforts of Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority to enhance emergency response preparedness and ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the Eid Al Adha holiday.

He explained that it offers educational resources on cybersecurity fundamentals, guidance on reporting cybercrimes, and tips for identifying phishing attempts. 'The platform emphasizes the importance of being cautious with suspicious links, using strong and unique passwords, and regularly backing up data. Additionally, users can access essential cybersecurity tips and awareness videos on "staying safe" while using apps and websites,' he continued. Protection MechanismsFurthermore, Al Shehhi indicated that the platform is dedicated to educating users on protection mechanisms against cybercrime, which includes securing phones, computers, and smart devices and promoting safe browsing practices, account protection, and strategies to avoid online fraud. Threat AwarenessHe added, "The platform raises awareness about various threats related to website usage, including phone scams, deepfakes, phishing, SMS fraud, voice calls, and QR codes. It equips users with the knowledge to avoid becoming victims, identify different types of malware and ransomware, and safeguard their devices. "Additionally, it offers guidance on strengthening defenses against social engineering attacks and identity theft, while helping users recognize identity impersonation tactics on social media and other platforms." Abu Dhabi Police share video of horrific accidents due to sudden halt in traffic
Abu Dhabi Police, in collaboration with the Monitoring and Control Centre and as part of Darb Al Salama 2 campaign, released a video of an accident caused by driver distraction and lack of attention during a sudden halt in traffic. The video released Abu Dhabi Police on X account, shows a white SUV driving on the fast lane, oblivious to a long queue of stationary vehicles ahead. The driver tries to swerve to the right at the last moment, but fails. Instead, it crashes into another SUV in front of it, badly damaging it from the rear. In the same video, a black SUV on the fast lane crashes into an another vehicle in the adjacent lane, causing it to turn over on its side. The police warned drivers against the dangers of distractions, such as using mobile phones for browsing the internet, social media, making calls, taking photos, and other behaviours that can result in serious traffic accidents. Abu Dhabi Police reminded drivers that the penalty for being distracted while driving in any form is Dhs800 and 4 traffic points.

Abu Dhabi Police urge motorists to stay focused to avoid serious accidents
Abu Dhabi Police have released footage of accidents caused by motorists failing to slow down when traffic ahead of them is at a standstill. The video, shared on social media, shows drivers approaching busy traffic, before making sudden manoeuvres to avoid them and colliding with cars with other lanes. "Drivers are warned against the dangers of getting busy due to phone use to browse the internet, social media sites, making calls, taking photos and other behaviour that could lead to serious traffic accidents," police said in an Instagram post. Police also reminded drivers that the fine for being distracted while driving, in any form, is Dh800 ($218). Motorists will also receive four black points. The post came a day after motorists were urged to take care on the UAE's roads after an increase in the number of deaths from traffic accidents during the summer. The amount of people killed in summer road accidents in Dubai rose from 27 to 34 between 2023 and 2024. The figure was announced at a press conference to mark the emirate joining the UAE-wide annual summer road safety campaign.
