TAMPARULI: Parents waiting to pick up their children after school hours were shocked when a lorry lost control and crashed into vehicles outside SK Pekan Tamparuli here on Tuesday. The 1pm incident happened in front of the school and fortunately there were no fatalities or injuries to the public. Tuaran District Police Chief Supt Noraidin Ag Maidin confirmed the incident after viral footage of the crash started making its round online. Initial investigations found the 10-ton lorry carrying a load of stones from Kota Kinabalu to Ranau when it lost control at the scene. 'Upon reaching the site, the lorry lost control and crashed into a lamp post at the road divider as well as a parked Perodua Alza on the opposite side of the road,' he said in a statement. The fallen lamp post also hit another vehicle, though both cars were unoccupied at the time of the accident. He said the lorry driver was attempting to avoid a Perodua Myvi that had stopped suddenly in front of him. A urine screening test conducted on the truck driver returned negative. Health outreach or ‘gay party'? Kelantan urges facts before judgement

Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Fadzli Hassan ( pic ) said in a statement that all parties must remain open-minded, and everyone must be afforded the right to justice with wisdom and fairness. Advertisement 'To resolve this matter, the Kelantan state government calls for a thorough and comprehensive investigation to ensure that no party becomes a victim of misunderstanding, slander, or public judgement before the truth is fully established. 'If investigations confirm that the police's actions were justified and based on facts, stern measures should be taken against those involved,' he said in a statement here. 'Conversely, if the NGOs' and individuals' claims are proven true, corrective steps must be taken. The principle of justice must prevail,' he added. However, he insisted that anyone planning potentially controversial events to seek proper approval from authorities. He added that if participants were from outside Kelantan, this should be clarified to protect locals from undue blame. 'Transparency is essential to prevent baseless assumptions and unwarranted judgement within society,' he said. Fadzli's remark came as some locals blamed the media and the police for casting Kelantan in a bad light by falsely claiming that a 'gay sex party' had taken place in the state. On Friday, the MAC confirmed that it conducted a night outreach session here on June 17 under the Differentiated HIV Services for Key Populations model. MAC said the session was in collaboration with Kota Jembal Health Clinic and part of a strategic approach introduced by the Health Ministry. It said the session was held from 8pm to 2am and had reached over 70 high-risk individuals, with services scheduled outside office hours to improve accessibility. This comes as a coalition of civil society groups had also urged Kelantan police to revise their statement on a June 2025 raid of an alleged 'gay sex party' here, which they clarified was in fact a health outreach event. Man missing after boat capsizes near Kinabatangan estate

District Fire and Rescue chief Hairi Utuh said the station received a call from the local police at 11.49am before dispatching a team to the scene, located 115km away. Advertisement A search and rescue operation was launched using a villager's boat, focusing on surface searches in the area where the boat sank. The missing man has been identified as Adzly Kassim, and the search efforts continued throughout the day. Klang road rage: Hilux driver released after arrest, says he was rushing to injured mum
KUALA LUMPUR: The pickup truck driver who went viral for tailgating and threatening another motorist on the North Klang Straits Bypass is believed to have been rushing to his mother's home after she reportedly suffered a fall. Klang Utara police chief Assistant Commissioner Vijaya Rao Samachulu said the 29-year-old man came forward to lodge a police report last night, accompanied by his lawyer, at the Klang Utara police headquarters' Traffic Department around 10pm. He said the suspect was subsequently arrested early this morning and taken for a urine test. "The test results returned negative for drugs, and he was released on police bail at about 3am. "According to his statement, during the incident he was on his way to his mother's house, as she had fallen and he wanted to take her to hospital," he said. Vijaya Rao said the case has now been reclassified under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, which carries a penalty of up to five years' jail and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM15,000 upon conviction. Yesterday, it was reported that police are investigating a viral altercation involving two drivers, in which a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle sideswiped and collided with a car on the New North Klang Straits Bypass. In the more than three-minute-long video, the man was seen punching the driver's side window of a Perodua Myvi and behaving aggressively, even as a police officer attempted to intervene. The incident, which involved two vehicles, occurred about 6.15pm on Thursday. The driver of the Perodua Myvi was unhurt and has chosen not to pursue the case further, saying that he only wishes to make an insurance claim for the accident.
