Czech Defense Firm's $1.33 Billion Junk Sale to Cut Debt Costs

Bloomberg25-06-2025
Armaments maker Czechoslovak Group AS is marketing $1.33 billion of junk bonds at a much lower yield than its last debt foray, highlighting the clamor for defense sector investment among credit money managers.
The Czech company, a supplier to Ukraine in its war against Russia, set initial price talk of 7% to 7.25% on a $750 million dollar note and 5.75% to 6% on a €500 million ($580 million) euro bond. Both tranches are much larger than originally intended, suggesting that the company received strong indications of demand during investor calls this week.

Russia says low global oil stockpiles prompted OPEC+ to hike output

(Reuters) -Low global oil stockpiles were a major motivating factor in prompting OPEC+ members to raise production by 548,000 barrels per day in August at the group's meeting on Saturday, the Russian government said in a statement. The group, which pumps about half of the world's oil, has been curtailing production since 2022 to support the market. But it has reversed course this year to regain market share and as U.S. President Donald Trump demanded the group pumped more to help keep gasoline prices lower. "Taking into account the robust global economic outlook and current market conditions reflected in low oil inventories, they (eight OPEC+ members) agreed to make a production adjustment of 548,000 barrels per day in August 2025," the Russian government said. OPEC+, which groups the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies led by Russia, wants to expand market share amid growing supplies from rival producers like the United States, sources have said. The group will next meet on August 3. (Writing by Lucy Papachristou; Editing by Sharon Singleton)

Farage Ally Resigns From Reform UK Over Business Probe

A Reform UK lawmaker has temporarily stepped back following a report of alleged business impropriety by companies he owned during the pandemic, marking a setback for the right-wing insurgent party led by Nigel Farage. James McMurdock 'has removed the party whip from himself pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations that are likely to be published by a national newspaper,' chief whip Lee Anderson said on Saturday. The allegations pertain to a time before he became a member of parliament, he said in a statement on the social media platform X.
