Kirk Herbstreit reacts to Lee Corso's last GameDay being at Ohio State
Perfect setting for one last ride!Coach's 'First Love' as he says!! https://t.co/GyCqZunjCc
If you've tuned into ESPN's College GameDay through the years, there's one thing that has become pretty apparent. Former Ohio State quarterback and current GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit has a very good relationship with host Lee Corso. The two have a chemistry and mutual regard for each other that has gone on for almost three decades. In fact, when Corso has been absent from the show for health reasons, Herbstreit has always been right there wishing his friend well and expressing his gratitude for what he means to him and college football.
So it will be with great respect and reflection that Herbstreit and the rest of the College GameDay crew pay tribute to Corso when the show hits Columbus for the massive collision between Texas and Ohio State on Aug. 30. It's the same location that Corso started the headgear tradition by donning the Brutus head in a game between OSU and Penn State on Oct. 5, 1996.
But not everyone is happy about it. Dan Corso, Lee's son, expressed his desire that his father's last ride be in Tallahassee on the same date for the matchup between Alabama and Florida State, where Corso played quarterback and cornerback and was also on the baseball team.
Herbstreit, though, responded to the confirmation that Ohio Stadium as the last location for his buddy as a perfect ending, showing support for his friend and for what it'll mean for GameDay fans and college football fans in general.
Not only should the game be much-anticipated, but you can bet the GameDay crew is putting together plenty of moments and reflections from what Corso has meant to college football through the years. What a poetic ending to Corso's career in front of the camera for ESPN and GameDay.

Michigan football picks up prediction for standout 4-star WR
The post Michigan football picks up prediction for standout 4-star WR appeared first on ClutchPoints. A big area of concern for the Michigan football team last year was the wide receiver position. The Wolverines struggled offensively, and not having the right talent there was a big reason why. Advertisement Michigan is trying to change that in the 2026 class, and one of its top targets is four-star Zion Robinson. Robinson is one of the top WRs in the class, and he was recently predicted to land with the Wolverines. '2026 4-star WR Zion Robinson has been predicted to Michigan by 247sports Sam Webb,' uofmcoverage said in a post. Michigan and Miami seem to be in the best shape with Zion Robinson, but Stanford and Nebraska are recruiting him hard as well. He has not set a commitment date yet. This would be a big recruiting win for head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff. Robinson is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #71 player in the 2026 class, the #6 WR and the #10 player in the state of Texas. Robinson currently attends Mansfield High School in Mansfield, TX. Michigan is pretty far away from home. Advertisement 'Tall outside target pushing 6-foot-3 with excellent multi-sport athletic context in basketball and track and field,' Robinson's scouting report reads. 'More polished pass catchers are out there but very few boast this combination of above-the-rim hardwood context, a state championship high jump gold medal, and corresponding high-level athleticism in pads. Frame and explosion foster contested-catch dominance.' Robinson is good enough to be a major impact player at Michigan, and he has pro potential as well. 'Displays sneaky run-after-catch effectiveness relative to frame and straight-line top-end gear,' his scouting report continues. 'Shows adequate acceleration that times requires a build-up runway, but leads to breakaway long speed. Advertisement 'Still developing hands consistency and route technique, but showed encouraging signs during junior season and Spring 2025 elite camp evaluation. A particularly high-ceiling outside receiver prospect who could become an impact player in college with long-term pro potential.' The Michigan football team is in position to land a commitment from Zion Robinson. Now, the coaching staff has to find a way to close the deal. Michigan football lands elite 4-star WR over Miami, Stanford
The post Michigan football lands elite 4-star WR over Miami, Stanford appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Michigan football team picked up a huge commitment on Wednesday as four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson announced that he will play for the Wolverines. Michigan has had trouble landing elite WRs in past years, but head coach Sherrone Moore and WR coach Ron Bellamy did not miss here. Robinson picked the Wolverines over Miami and Stanford. Advertisement 'BREAKING: Four-Star WR Zion Robinson has Committed to Michigan, he tells me for @on3recruits,' Hayes Fawcett said in a post. 'The 6'4 185 WR from Mansfield, TX chose the Wolverines over Miami & Stanford.' Robinson is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #71 player in the 2026 class, the #6 WR and the #10 player in the state of Texas. Robinson currently attends Mansfield High School in Mansfield, TX. Michigan is pretty far away from home. 'More polished pass catchers are out there but very few boast this combination of above-the-rim hardwood context, a state championship high jump gold medal, and corresponding high-level athleticism in pads. Frame and explosion foster contested-catch dominance.' Robinson should end up being a major impact player at Michigan, and he has pro potential as well. Advertisement 'Displays sneaky run-after-catch effectiveness relative to frame and straight-line top-end gear,' his scouting report continues. 'Shows adequate acceleration that times requires a build-up runway, but leads to breakaway long speed. A particularly high-ceiling outside receiver prospect who could become an impact player in college with long-term pro potential.' This is a big get for the Michigan football team, and more commits are going to be coming soon. The Wolverines are on commit watch for two other prospects, and their decisions should become public in the coming days. Michigan recruiting is heating up. Alabama beats Ohio State, Ole Miss for 4-star TE
The post Alabama beats Ohio State, Ole Miss for 4-star TE appeared first on ClutchPoints. Alabama football rose as one of the more aggressive teams on the Thursday recruiting trail. The Crimson Tide snatched five-star running back Ezavier 'E.J.' Crowell. But then boosted the offense further by beating Ohio State and Ole Miss for a four-star tight end. Advertisement Mack Sutter chose Alabama less than two hours after the Crowell commitment. The Dunlap, Illinois native turns down the national champion Buckeyes and Rebels for 'Bama. Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals also added in-state competitor Illinois was in the final running before Sutter chose the Tide. Sutter fired off this message to Tuscaloosa via Fawcett. 'T-town let's do ittt. ROLL TIDE!' Sutter told the recruiting insider. Sutter heads to Tuscaloosa as the nation's sixth-ranked TE by On3/Rivals. He's also the state of Illinois' No. 2 overall talent by the national recruiting outlet. And he adds to an impressive college football recruiting day for head coach Kalen DeBoer and his coaching staff. Alabama ending June recruiting in aggressive fashion Gary Cosby Jr.-Tuscaloosa News / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Crowell helped silence some DeBoer doubters. The head coach faced harsh criticism for his ability to grab five-stars post Nick Saban. Advertisement DeBoer and his coaching staff earned not one, but two major recruiting wins on the evening. While Sutter is No. 2 in Illinois for On3/Rivals, he's the best prospect in The Land of Lincoln by 247Sports. The 6-foot-6 Sutter even drew comparisons to one TE who played in the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. Except Sutter got compared to Jared Wylie, not Travis Kelce. Hudson Standish of 247Sports made that critique of the new 'Bama commit. 'Dynamic athlete hovering around 6-foot-5, 230 pounds who can create effortless separation before the catch and climb the ladder at the catch point,' Standish wrote in his evaluation. Advertisement Sutter became sold about DeBoer for this reason: The head coach is a Midwest native like him. Sutter loved that aspect about his future head coach in a conversation with Brett Greenberg of Bama 247. The Tide are asserting themselves more on the trail to close out June. Alabama flipped former four-star Illinois commit Javari Barnett on June 23. Ex-Rutgers safety Rihyael Kelley also turned to Alabama on the same day. Alabama is climbing nationally too for the 2026 recruiting rankings. Now standing at No. 20 overall after spending time between 40 to 50.
