England under-21s will be ready for the heat when they aim to reach the Euros final today.

Kick-off is at 6pm local time, or 5pm BST, with early-evening temperatures set to pass the 30deg C mark.

Albion's James Beadle will be in goal for the Young Lions with Jack Hinshelwood expected to start at left-back.
Both the English and Dutch will be tested by the conditions as well as by each other.
England boss Carsley said: 'We've not shied away from the heat.
'We've exposed the players to it fully. We're ready for it. We're fully prepared now.
Defender expected to move as revamped Albion squad takes shape
'We've trained at some of the hottest periods of the day, not on purpose but just the way that it's worked out with our training time.
'We've been here long enough now to acclimatise to the heat. We've definitely got hydration strategies in place in terms of what the players need to cool down quickly and hydrate quickly.

'I think our use of the substitutions has been effective in terms of our timings. We've probably gone a little bit earlier than you would in normal circumstances, based on how hot it's been.'
Hinshelwood switched to left-back during the 2-1 defeat by Germany in the final group game and remained there as Spain were defeated 3-1 in the quarters.
A similar role this time could see him up against Stoke City winger Million Manhoef.
Cahill told to think long-term as he links up with ex-Albion keeper at new club
Devyne Rensch, the right-back who played for Ajax against Albion in the Europa League, also operates down that flank for the Dutch.
The tie is being shown live by Channel 4, as is the second semi between France and Brajan Gruda's Germany in Kosice at 8pm.
The final takes place on Saturday evening.

FIFA Club World Cup Round of 16: Benfica vs Chelsea preview, potential lineups and prediction

By Aman Shukla Published on June 28, 2025, 10:48 IST The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Round of 16 is heating up, and all eyes are on the blockbuster clash between Benfica and Chelsea at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on June 28, 2025. This all-European showdown promises fireworks as both teams battle for a quarter-final spot against either Palmeiras or Botafogo. Let's dive into the match preview, potential lineups and our take on who'll come out on top. Match Details: Benfica vs Chelsea Date : Saturday, June 28, 2025 : Saturday, June 28, 2025 Time : 4:00 PM ET (9:00 PM BST) : 4:00 PM ET (9:00 PM BST) Venue : Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC : Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC Where to Watch : Stream live for free on DAZN globally : Stream live for free on DAZN globally Referee: Slavko Vinčić (Slovenia) Benfica have been the surprise package of the tournament, topping Group C with a stunning 1-0 win over Bayern Munich. Chelsea, meanwhile, finished second in Group D behind Flamengo but showed their quality with a 3-0 rout of ES Tunis. With history favoring the Blues and Benfica riding a wave of confidence, this match is anyone's game. Benfica's Road to the Knockouts Benfica have turned heads in their Club World Cup debut. They kicked things off with a gritty 2-2 draw against Boca Juniors, clawing back from two goals down. A 6-0 thrashing of Auckland City followed, before they pulled off the upset of the tournament—a 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich, thanks to Andreas Schjelderup's early goal and a masterclass from goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin. The Eagles are led by the evergreen Ángel Di María, who's bagged three penalties in the group stage, and a rock-solid defense anchored by Nicolás Otamendi. But Chelsea won't be an easy task—Benfica have lost all three previous competitive meetings with the Blues, including the 2013 Europa League final. Can they rewrite history? Chelsea's Group Stage Journey Chelsea's group stage had its ups and downs. They started strong with a 2-0 win over LAFC, where Pedro Neto and summer signing Liam Delap shone. A 3-1 loss to Flamengo exposed some cracks, but they bounced back with a commanding 3-0 win over ES Tunis, with goals from Tosin Adarabioyo, Delap, and young star Tyrique George. Enzo Maresca's side is a blend of youth and experience, with Cole Palmer pulling the strings in attack and Enzo Fernández controlling the midfield. Despite missing striker Nicolas Jackson due to suspension, Chelsea's squad depth makes them a tough opponent. They'll need to be at their best to handle Benfica's attacking threat. Expected Lineups Benfica (4-2-3-1) Goalkeeper : Anatoliy Trubin : Anatoliy Trubin Defenders : Fredrik Aursnes, António Silva, Nicolás Otamendi, Alexander Dahl : Fredrik Aursnes, António Silva, Nicolás Otamendi, Alexander Dahl Midfielders : Leandro Barreiro, Renato Sanches : Leandro Barreiro, Renato Sanches Attacking Midfielders : Ángel Di María, Gianluca Prestianni, Andreas Schjelderup : Ángel Di María, Gianluca Prestianni, Andreas Schjelderup Striker : Vangelis Pavlidis : Vangelis Pavlidis Manager: Bruno Lage. Chelsea (4-2-3-1) Goalkeeper : Robert Sánchez : Robert Sánchez Defenders : Reece James, Tosin Adarabioyo, Levi Colwill, Marc Cucurella : Reece James, Tosin Adarabioyo, Levi Colwill, Marc Cucurella Midfielders : Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernández : Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernández Attacking Midfielders : Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke : Pedro Neto, Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke Striker : Liam Delap : Liam Delap Manager: Enzo Maresca. Head-to-Head History Chelsea has dominated Benfica in the past, winning all three competitive clashes: 2011-12 Champions League Quarter-finals : Chelsea 1-0 Benfica (away), 2-1 (home) : Chelsea 1-0 Benfica (away), 2-1 (home) 2013 Europa League Final: Chelsea 2-1 Benfica While those games were years ago, Chelsea's record could give them a mental edge. Still, Benfica's current form suggests they're ready to challenge that history. Prediction: Who Wins? This one's tough to call. Benfica's defensive grit and Di María's magic make them a real threat, especially after their Bayern upset. But Chelsea's squad depth, with Palmer's creativity and Fernández's midfield control, gives them a slight advantage. We expect a tight game, with Chelsea's quick transitions and clinical finishing making the difference. Score Prediction: Benfica 1-2 Chelsea Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . More than 1 million empty seats for Club World Cup group stage. Knockout rounds up next.

Total announced attendance was 1.67 million from 2.95 million capacity, an average of 34,746. Just 44.9 percent was filled for five matches at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., the site of next year's World Cup final, and 50 percent at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., where the 1994 championship game was played. Among other 2026 sites, 81.8 percent of capacity was filled in Miami Gardens, Fla., 61.6 percent in Philadelphia, 52 percent in Seattle, and 44.3 percent in Atlanta. Advertisement FIFA spokesman Bryan Swanson did not respond to a request for FIFA President Gianni Infantino to discuss the tournament and attendance. FIFA issued a statement that said: 'The appetite of the tournament speaks for itself: fans from 168 countries have already purchased tickets . . . a clear sign of global anticipation and reach.' The 12 games televised with English commentary on TNT, TBS, and truTV averaged 360,000 viewers through Monday, including 409,000 for seven matches on nights and weekends. Advertisement The second round opens Saturday with an all-Brazilian matchup of Palmeiras and Botafogo, followed by Chelsea-Benfica later in the day. Sunday starts with the high-profile meeting of Inter Miami and Lionel Messi against European champion Paris Saint-Germain and is followed by Bayern Munich-Flamengo. Inter Milan-Fluminese and Manchester City-Al Hilal are on Monday, and Real Madrid-Juventus and Borussia Dortmund-Monterrey on Tuesday. European teams won 16 of the 17 previous editions of an eight-team Club World Cup, the lone exception a 2012 victory by Brazil's Corinthians over Chelsea. Manchester City is the only team that went 3-0 in the group stage. ⋅ Five of the 12 stadiums being used are sites for next year's World Cup, which will have 104 matches instead of 64 and many more games lacking prestigious teams and players. There were five weather delays in the Club World Cup group stage and temperatures at times rose well over 90 degrees, a sign that climate change could impact next year's World Cup. However, four of the stadiums for next year's tournament have roofs and climate control. ⋅ Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe, among soccer's top stars, didn't play a minute of the group stage, 'I don't want to be optimistic and get ahead of myself, but we need him because he's a top player, one of the best in the world. We hope he's back soon,' Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso said Thursday. ⋅ Messi, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner who turned 38 on Tuesday, has helped Miami reach the knockout phase with moments of brilliance. He hit the goal frame twice in the opening draw against Al Ahly, then scored his 68th free kick goal for club and country in the 2-1 win over Porto. Advertisement Next up is the game against PSG, Messi's team from 2021-23. ⋅ All four entrants from Brazil have advanced to the round of 16, with Botafogo beating PSG, 1-0, in a matchup of current European and South American champions. Flamengo, Palmeiras, and Fluminense are also through to the next stage.

At Cooper Flagg's Dallas introduction, the talk is he won't be a lone star

Flagg was deferential to the history of European stars Dirk Nowitzki and Luka Doncic — the latter being Advertisement The Associated Press men's college player of the year quickly declared his love for Mexican food and barbecue — the same question all the Texas newcomers get — and easily rattled off Mount Rushmores for the NBA, and the WNBA. Get Starting Point A guide through the most important stories of the morning, delivered Monday through Friday. Enter Email Sign Up For those wondering, Flagg's NBA picks were Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant, and he appropriately skipped the last names of the last two. The WNBA choices were Candace Parker, Brittney Griner, A'ja Wilson, and, after a brief pause to think, Caitlin Clark, 'because she's changed the game so much.' Of course, Flagg is about to join quite a collection of names: Advertisement Although fellow Duke alum Irving won't join Flagg on the court until possibly January as the nine-time All-Star recovers from a torn ACL, the Mavs are expecting a return to the playoffs after falling short in 2025, a year after Irving and Doncic led Dallas to the NBA Finals, where the Mavs lost to the Celtics in five games. Throw in third-year player Dereck Lively II — another ex-Duke player, and one who visited Flagg going into his only season with the Blue Devils last fall — and there are plenty of reasons to believe Flagg gets a softer landing than many top picks who end up in rebuilding situations. 'He's very lucky to have veterans, future Hall of Famers,' said coach Jason Kidd, a Hall of Fame point guard who was the second overall choice by the Mavericks 31 years ago. 'When you talk about Kai and Klay and then AD, just understanding the vets are going to protect him and help him, and they're going to push him.' Related : Flagg flew to Dallas with Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont and both of their families. Among those at the team's practice facility near American Airlines Center was Mark Cuban, the high-profile So was Mark Aguirre, the other No. 1 overall pick by Dallas in 1981. The 65-year-old was just a few seats from Shawn Marion, who played with Nowitzki on the franchise's only championship team in 2011. That row also included Rolando Blackman, a former player who represented the Mavs when they won the draft lottery. It was the first time in franchise history that Dallas had moved up in the lottery. Advertisement Nearly the entire history of the 45-year-old franchise was represented when Flagg was asked about following Nowitzki, who has a statue outside the arena, and Doncic, whose departure was a heartbreaker for countless Mavs fans who no doubt got a boost with the arrival of the third one-and-done Duke player on the Dallas roster. 'I'm coming in just trying to learn and trying to get better every single day,' Flagg said. 'And I think if I can do that to the best of my ability, I think expectations and pressures that other people will put on me and our team, that will kind of work itself out. So I'm just trying to come in and be the best that I can be and just win at the highest level.' Related : The 6-foot-9 Flagg's position is one of the more intriguing questions on the court, and the Mavs will have a void at point guard until Irving returns. 'I want to put him at the point guard,' said Kidd, who sat to Flagg's left on a stage, with Harrison on his right. 'I want to make him uncomfortable and see how he reacts.' There wasn't anything that made Flagg look uncomfortable on his first day in Dallas as a Mav.
