#SHOWBIZ: Sheila Majid announces November concert at Axiata Arena

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Sheila Majid is set to grace the stage once more with a highly anticipated concert, "Sheila Majid 40 Years in Music," at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, here on Nov 8.
This event isn't merely a tribute; it's a grand celebration of a living legend whose illustrious career continues to thrive.
According to the concert's main organiser, Altus Prohouse, the show will honour the significant milestones and enduring legacy of one of Malaysia's most cherished performers.
At a press conference yesterday, Sheila Majid expressed her gratitude: "Forty years is a long career. I never imagined being blessed with the love and support of fans who have stood by me all this time."
She added, "This is a gift. My longevity in this industry isn't something I achieved alone — I've been lucky to have so many brilliant people, the architects and magic hands who've helped shape my career. 'Sheila Majid 40 Years in Music' is a tribute to all of them — and a sweet marker in my journey that is still being embraced by today's generation."
The legendary singer's most recent solo concert, "Sheila Majid BIG BAND Live in Kuala Lumpur," took place in 2023 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
She also performed at Zepp KL in June last year alongside Indonesian DJ duo Diskoria.
This upcoming concert will be Sheila's first-ever mega-concert at the Axiata Arena.
Her long-time musical director, Mac Chew, revealed that the show will feature a distinct retro vibe.

#SHOWBIZ: Sheila Majid urges celebrities to be wiser on social media

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Queen of Jazz, Datuk Sheila Majid, is urging fellow celebrities to use social media with more thought, warning that too much time online can harm their emotional well-being."We need to be smarter about how we use social media. I'm old-school, so when I post, it's purely to share useful information or raise awareness," the 60-year-old singer told Berita Harian today. Sheila added that she takes her time before posting anything, especially photos, to avoid any negative reactions. "Not everyone is going to like us. I always think very carefully before uploading anything." To protect her mental health, she also steers clear of reading harsh comments. "I don't bother with hurtful remarks. Who knows who they are; it could be an eight-year-old. There's no need to argue; they just want attention." Sheila also manages her own Instagram account and never uses it to vent her frustrations. "There's no benefit in posting when you're angry," she said, though she acknowledged that every celebrity has their own approach. "If someone wants to post eight selfies a day, that's entirely up to them."
