Trump fans targets Crowds on Demand for alleged role in anti-ICE protests despite MAGA-friendly CEO's denials

Independent19-06-2025
Donald Trump have taken to social media to allege that a company called Crowds on Demand has been supplying paid protesters to the anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles and Saturday's nationwide 'No Kings' marches to bolster their numbers.
However, CEO Adam Swart has been busily making the rounds of MAGA-aligned media outlets to correct the false narrative around the 'paid protest industry.'
Right-wingers on X have insisted, without evidence, that the numbers turning out to oppose ICE and President Trump are routinely bolstered by hired operatives supplied by Swart's company.
Crowds on Demand is 'currently fielding high demands for the anti-ICE show,' one user confidently asserted last week. At the same time, another jokingly congratulated a liberal celebrating the 'No Kings' turnout by saying the company 'really came thru for you guys.'
Others have breezily suggested its activities are bankrolled by billionaire George Soros, a favorite all-purpose bogeyman of the right.
However, the official website for Crowds on Demand, founded by Swart in October 2012, promises only 'impactful advocacy campaigns, demonstrations, PR stunts, crowds for hire and corporate events.'
It elaborates: 'We are best known for organizing passionate demonstrations, rallies, flash-mobs, corporate PR events, and light-hearted events such as paparazzi, brand ambassadors, and PR stunts.'
Attempting to combat the misinformation, Swart appeared on One America News Network (OANN) last week and said flatly: 'The fact is that we are not involved.
'Of course we get contacted in regards to practically every social movement out there but that doesn't mean we take on these types [of assignments].'
He said Crowds on Demand had not sent any activists-for-hire to Los Angeles 'because it involves illegal activity and we do not engage in any form of illegal activity – of course, no violence, no vandalism, and no blocking streets without a permit.'
'I want to completely disassociate myself and Crowds on Demand with what you see going on,' Swart continued, adding that scenes of demonstrators confronting law enforcement were 'more like guerrilla warfare than protest.'
Pushed by OANN anchor Dan Ball to say who he believed was 'funding' the demonstrations, Swart evaded the question, saying only that, in his opinion, the participants were nihilistic 'psychopaths' bent on sowing anarchy.
Swart has also appeared on podcasts hosted by Newsmax presenter Greg Kelly and boxer David Nino Rodriguez, as well as local radio, to make the same points about this month's clashes in California, and has previously appeared on Fox News and NewsNation.
He appears to have an unlikely ally in Elon Musk 's artificial intelligence tool Grok, which recently debunked attacks on his company by ruling: 'The claim that liberals are paid to march lacks credible evidence of a widespread conspiracy.
'Paid protesting exists, with services like Crowds on Demand hired by various groups, including for liberal causes, but it's not exclusive to liberals.
'Most protests, like the 2017 Women's March, appear grassroots, driven by genuine sentiment. The claim is often used rhetorically to discredit protests without solid proof. While some paid participation occurs, no systematic evidence supports the conspiracy.'

Trump tears into his haters amid new Epstein revelations

Donald Trump is still trying to blame the Jeffrey Epstein files outrage on 'crazy Democrats ' as his base demands answers amid claims of a 'cover-up.' Convinced that his haters are trying to distract from his 'great' first six months back in office, Trump is hoping that his direction to unseal grand jury testimony will be his saving grace among MAGA loyalists who are growing impatient. During his 2024 campaign, Trump vowed transparency on the Epstein files and claimed his administration would release troves of government secrets, including in the child sexual trafficking case. Trump dubbed the entire ordeal a 'con job' and 'scam' as he again tore into the continuation of the saga in a Thursday night Truth Social post. It comes as yet another piece of evidence emerged that may shine additional light on Trump's relationship with Epstein. The New York Times reported that the president called Epstein 'the greatest' in a newly unearthed message he wrote for the disgraced billionaire on a copy of his 1997 book 'Trump: The Art of the Comeback.' The report comes as Trump is grappling with the fallout from a story by the Wall Street Journal claiming that the president signed a birthday note with a drawing of an outline of a naked woman to Epstein in 2003. Epstein's longtime girlfriend and British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell wrote an introductory letter to a leather-bound book of birthday notes, which the Times also published. Trump has fiercely denied ever drawing the picture and sued the Journal for $10 billion for libel claims. Shortly after the WSJ article was published, Trump shot back in a post to Truth Social saying: 'The supposed letter they printed by President Trump to Epstein was a FAKE.' The report claimed that Trump wrote in his birthday note to Epstein: 'May every day be another wonderful secret.' Trump's communications director has a standard statement he appears to be sending to all media who ask about Trump's connection to the Epstein debacle, and dismissing the reports as more 'fake news.' 'The fact is that the President kicked him out of his club for being a creep,' Cheung said in the statement sent to multiple outlets, including the Daily Mail. 'This is nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media, just like the Obama Russiagate scandal, which President Trump was right about,' he concludes. Trump is now all-in on his direction for the Justice Department to request courts unseal grand jury testimony. 'As things are revealed and, I hope will take place quickly, you will see that it is yet another Democrat con job,' Trump said on Truth Social in relation to the Epstein files. 'Hopefully, the Grand Jury Files will put an end to this hoax,' the president wrote on Truth Social shortly after the NYT piece was published. 'Everyone should see what is there, but people who are innocent should not be hurt.' Trump last week instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to request the grand jury testimony on the Epstein case amid mounting pressure from his base to release more information. However, his plan is already hitting a snag. The Southern District of Florida this week denied the request for the highly-sensitive materials to be made available. And the Southern District of New York asked Trump's DOJ to respond to a request for more information on why they are seeking the additional court documents. It's very difficult to get grand jury testimony unsealed as it's one of the more highly-protected and secretive pieces of court materials. In a continued effort to make a show of transparency in the case, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche flew to Florida and met with Maxwell on Thursday to find out what more she knows and can reveal. Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence for her crimes in Epstein's sexual trafficking ring. It's no secret that Trump associated with Epstein in the 1980s and 1990s. His name appears on flight logs for Epstein's private plane – known as the Lolita Express – and his family members are part of the 'black book' of Epstein's contacts. Trump and Epstein ran in similar circles in New York City and Palm Beach decades ago and were oftentimes pictured together or at the same events. CNN unearthed images this month that showed Epstein attended Trump's second wedding to Marla Maples on December 20, 1993 at The Plaza Hotel in New York. The photographs also showed Epstein alongside Trump's young children Ivanka and Eric at the Harley Davidson Cafe opening in New York in 1993.

Starmer should give Trump a warm welcome - then a £14m bill

Donald Trump jets into Scotland today on a visit which is 'private', according to White House officials. Yet despite that label, he nonetheless intends to make you – the British taxpayer – foot an expected £14million bill. So here's my suggestion: Starmer should shake the man's hand and then pass on the invoice. It's simple. If the President of the United States wants to make a personal pilgrimage to his luxury golf resorts in Scotland, he's free to do so. But if he wishes to take advantage of our stretched to the limit public services so he can fund his circus during an onslaught of budget cuts, crumbling infrastructure, and exhausted police officers, then he can forget it. The bloke's a billionaire! He can afford it. He should pay his way just like any other showman on a world tour. Craig Munro breaks down Westminster chaos into easy to follow insight, walking you through what the latest policies mean to you. Sent every Wednesday. Sign up here. Trump's relationship with Scotland has always been strained, at best. Long before he was President, long before the MAGA hats, indictments, and the endless motorcades, he was already deeply unpopular here. His expansion of Menie Golf Course was met with fervent opposition from residents. Local farmers were threatened with forced purchase orders. And there's that glorious moment comedian Janey Godley welcomed then-candidate Trump to Scotland in 2016 by holding up a banner that read: 'Trump is a c**t'? This time around, we're being told his visit is unofficial, yet our leaders are queuing up to meet him. Starmer is to be flown up to Aberdeen to reportedly 'refine' a recent US-UK trade deal. I think the interests of Scotland are protected by billing Trump for police overtime, airspace shut downs, motorway closures, and operational disruption the visit will entail. After all, we're continually being reminded there is 'no magic money tree'. Chancellor Rachel Reeves is already warning she will have to make tough decisions (aka tax rises) in the next Budget again. And yet there's nothing tough about the decision of politicians to block their diaries and drain the public purse to accommodate a man who is extravagantly wealthy and extravagantly divisive. Trump does not need to be welcomed with sycophantic deference. Trump needs to be welcomed with boundaries. Because the minute you give him an inch, he'll take the whole fairway. Just ask Cole Palmer, after he intruded on Chelsea's Club World Cup trophy lift by seemingly refusing to move away from the spotlight. This OAP day out is a horrific incentive for a man whose name is much on everybody's lips when it comes to mayhem, corruption, and conspiracy. Epstein anybody? For a man under investigation for mishandling confidential documents and whose election has been based on authoritarian campaign rhetoric. When you think about it, Trump will probably respect being charged. He's in the WWE Hall of Fame for a reason – he loves conflict. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video So what better way to earn his grudging admiration than to stand up for ourselves, rather than grovelling? Our squeamish politicians need to stop bootlicking. Presidential away days never come without that hefty price tag, even when it's not a proper state visit like this one. Trump's last trip to the UK in 2018 cost the taxpayer £14.8 million, which was partly used for his jaunt around Turnberry. His four day visit saw thousands of police deployed, mass protests in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and a security operation of such size as to be comparable with that of a conventional state visit. This time also shall not be any different – perhaps worse, considering he has become even less stable. Scotland Police has already confirmed that this is a 'complex' operation, with extra resources being pulled from across the UK. That, alone, is dozens of precious hours our brilliant officers can't spend solving real crimes. A place where his name is emblazoned in gold letters on our landscape, despite sensational disapproval and ongoing concerns about how much these properties are contributing to the economy. We shouldn't dismiss the views of you and me, too. Everybody gets what he represents: division, authoritarianism, and a transactional politics in which loyalty is bought through economic self harm and truth can be junked. So why are we, as a country, so keen to appease him? We can respect his office, without the costly symbolism. More Trending If the PM wants to demonstrate strength on the world stage, it will not be from photoshoots alongside Trump on an exclusive golf course. It will be from treating him as what he is – an elderly grandpa on a private getaway. We need to be serious about financial prudence, we need to be serious about valuing our public services, and then we start by asking the most glaring question of all: why on earth are we spending millions to go and fetch the world's most powerful tourist? So go ahead and shake the man's hand if you must, Prime Minister. But then, after he hops back onto Air Force One, send over the invoice. Make it clear: the UK won't pick up the bill for foreign billionaires. Do you have a story you'd like to share? Get in touch by emailing Share your views in the comments below.
